The only thing that can save the mod

I have only encountered a hacker once. It was on a US Seattle server and someone nuked the server... Really annoyed me but it was only once and I was new to the game, so I had little in terms of gear and weapons. Unfortunately any game where the risk and reward don't entirely jive, where the game doesn't have instant gratification and where the cost of loss is so high, there will be cheaters. If for nothing else, the cheaters will simply do it to grief those who enjoy the game for what it is.

    Finding a home server

Six launcher is much better for keeping track of a home server than Arma 2 is. With that said, if you know exactly how the server appears in Arma 2 you can filter for it: for example Dayz - USXX. That's what I use to get to my home server if Six Launcher doesn't launch me into server properly (9999 ping on six launcher and Wait for Host on login).

Not everyone is a potential enemy.

I have played this mod with the mindset of 'live and let live' due to the fact that we are all in the same boat: we need food, water and weapons to survive the zombie apocalypse. This mentality was chiefly due to fact at how easy it is to die, break legs and/or bleed out from zombies and otherwise and thus lose everything. You would think the vast majority of players would look at it the same way. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case in my experience. Its rather sad too because its getting to the point where I am so sick of losing the good backpack because of a trigger happy player that I am beginning to feel as though I should shoot anyone I see to simply save myself. It truly is a breath of fresh air to read about helpful players. I wish my experience was more like that.
