Or like a hacker did to me one time, spawned in as a dog and dropped a tonne of really seriously legit gear :P high powered rifles, goggles, maps, food, ammo etc. Hackers who just kill everyone are stupid, there's no fun in that IMO. Like you I would freak people out or do weird shit

I still prefer the old way of "will they won't they" type of encounters, but this still gets my heart racing. When you see a dude and follow him for a while and gun him down. Still wouldn't do it to people who just spawn in or have no gear, seems like a rather useless thing to do.

Went into a session now with a totally different mindset and enjoyed it much more this time. I got an AK and shot every other dude that came my way, gunned down 4 dudes between balota and cherno :P then another guy's buddy got me

Granted I have made some blunders in the past and I can admit them, but what I experienced today happened straight after spawning so I had no way to defend or escape.I spawned and ran along, away from cherno cos that's a death sentence, I ran maybe 100m and a guy approached from behind me and kept moving to my back, after no replies on the chat directly or the side channel I trotted along and he followed and shot me in the back. After that I spawned in three valleys and met 2 dudes, one let himself die by zombies, the other I helped find a gun along with my gun and I gave him ammo and let him run off while I ran opposite, as soon as I left the shed about 500m from where I spawned, a guy just started opening fire on me and down me. I fired back but missed, and I only got the chance to fire off one shot. These two instances are in no way exaggerated and happened in the space of a half hour. Maybe i'm pissy cos it happened and it frustrated me but it felt like I was fighting odds. Who knows, I could spawn in later and have the best game I've ever had.

Perhaps I should change my view and adapt along with the game changes instead of pining over what it USED to be. I just found it frustrating how much things had changed, at least for me personally. OR it could be that I'm outta practice :P

And this is the problem with the DayZ community. All you guys have a "if you don't like it then leave" attitude. Rather than help people play or learn. In my case I learned and almost have to re-learn everything because of how pessimistic the users have become. I'm not whining cos I suck at the game, I can admit when I do something stupid or get myself killed. But when I just spawn and skulk along a few hundred yards and get gunned down when I have nothing of value is not fun, challenging or hard. It's just redundant. Think of new players coming in to join the large DayZ community and you have the vets who just gun them down over and over and say "get used to it" or "if you don't like it then stop playing" after they spend their hard earned money on the game. There seems to be no room for helping and teaching anymore in the game and it's more about who can shoot the other one faster. The DayZ community is one of the most hostile in gaming

I'm not raging, I'm not posting in caps or swearing left right and center. I'm just expressing an opinion

I just think there needs to be a few more incentives in the game. But by changing things you kind of spoil the novelty of the game and it's hard to choose what to do with it. Maybe I'm just having a bad day with it and some crummy luck since getting back into it, but what was once fun (and yes to other people the game is actually fun rather than "hard") is a bit ruined by people getting bored with nothing else to do rather than kill others. If there were objectives or incentives to go do other things then I think people would team up a bit more to help each other.

That's a horrible and very narrow minded way to look at the game.

I still love the game but it's becoming harder and harder to have fun in it now, and that's what every game should be "fun". It shouldn't feel like a real chore to play it.

Therein lies the problem, there is no consequence for stuff you do except for your attire. But if you punish them for being bad then it's not realistic and lots of people won't play then cos they can't kill willy nilly. But back in the beginning the game was really fun cos some guys helped you a lot and you could go exploring with them and it felt like you were all part of this world facing the same problems as each other. Now it's just shooting fish in a barrel for some people and it's turned the game into something totally different. When I talk to my non DayZ friend about it he always says "is there any nice people in the game at all, or even any zombies" because everything revolves around players killing each other. And I don't want to have to drag someone else into the game and play with them to enjoy it, the game shouldn't work that way

I didn't say I was the only one. I just think it's frustrating how much the game changed from the last time I was playing it properly, I used to meet a good few nice people back then. But now it's very rare

So I was on green mountian today and killed some zeds when suddenly a dog appeared out of nowhere, more zeds came so I legged it and I loved that the dog followed me. when I got to the woods I tried to interact with the dog but when he stopped he started dropping a LOT of gear. He dropped a silenced UZI and a tonne of ammo along with a high powered sniper rifle with a night time scope on it (sort of blue). He dropped a bunch of meat,bandages,tins of food,auto injectors, GPS,Map,entrenching too,toolbox,NVGs,Range finder etc. etc. In other words this dog gave me almost all the best gear in the game except a ghillie suit and when I was taking gear he ran away. So I trotted along nicely with my new overpowered guns and suddenly the dog came back dropping even MORE gear. It was here that I aborted and disconnected in case there was hacking or something going on. Im almost afraid to use the guns a lot now in case I get banned, I took down 3 zeds with them so far though. Anyone else have this happen yet? I knew dogs were being introduced but this was just crazy

When I first started playing it about a month maybe 2 months ago everyone was friendly and I met a few dudes who I ventured with and they gave me stuff and shared. Now everyone just wants to kill each other to the point where I almost do the same before they do it to me, and I think that's the mentality everyone has. They see you with a gun they WILL fire without thinking in case you kill them first. All in the name of getting slightly better gear. It's ridiculous. The humanity meter is a start but what's the point if it just makes dudes look different? needs to be a better way but you can't exactly punish them either cos it ruins the realism

I used to get this all the time when I got the game first so resorted to using six launcher and it worked great but because it didn't update as fast as manual updates I uninstalled it and tried to do everything manually and use the in game browser, some servers I got into on older versions of the mod and other servers I got stuck at "loading" for over 15 mins. I am still getting "Connection failed" all the time now and it's really frustrating. The whole implementation of this mod right from the very start has been really shoddy and it's one of the most frustrating mods to get running at all for a lot of people. They need to make an executable or something for this mod that does a lot of the work itself and has the most updated version of the mod because all the other outlets have issues too. DayZcommander disables the mod when I load it, six launcher doesn't update fast enough and the in game server browser has connection failed issues. It's all broken
