Did anyone else feel dayz felt cooler first time playing?

I liked it when it didn't feel like one giant open world deathmatch. I also liked it when not everyone knew every little thing about the map and the mechanics. Now everyone knows all the good spots for everything. I suck at the game because I can't devote enough time to it to get really good and everyone else just always seems to know where I am. Sure a lot of it has got to do with me sucking but I liked it better when a lot more people sucked too lol It's actually quite intimidating to play the game now
  2. "Don't notice anything different" OR "So What's new in the standalone?" OR "Should I get the standalone or just play the mod?"

Barbed Wire needs to go, or be fixed at least

Exactly. Seems rather pointless otherwise and is only used to annoy other players.
  4. I got to the Airfield down south and one of the hangars had Barbed Wire in the front but a little gap between, not enough to run through but I managed to aim a vault right and get though it fairly handy. But I couldn't vault back out. I was stuck inside the hangar and my only option was to agro zeds and respawn

    CZ550?

I found 2 in the same barn yesterday lol. Put one in my pack and brought one with me. They're awesome to use. Something I love about a good old hunting rifle design. Not high tech military rifles
  6. Tool are THE shit. Seriously cool band. New album coming soon, Woot!
  7. I want a full on hobo look with a beard and everything with flies constantly buzzing all around me
  8. I understand what the game set out to do which was player interaction. Of both kinds. They didn't want it being all out war where everyone shot each other on sight without trying to communicate. That's what it has become now, but rocket himself expressed how he was trying to change things to try stop some of this. There's nothing wrong with killing other players but when it's just for funsies or killing right after spawning in then it's ridiculous. It defeats what the game is trying to convey.
  9. Some bullet points on it: - Securing the game from hacking/exploits is the number one priority with the game. - New crossbow looks bad-ass, Rocket hints at a chainsaw. - The game will draw on assets from all of BIS's games, talks about the helicopter mechanics from Take on Helicopters. - Distribution will be a lot more streamlined, so they can push out updates a lot quicker/easier. - The game is going to be a lot more optimized, especially the zombies themselves, which will presumably allow a lot more zombies at once. - Content/Images/Videos to be up on the blog soon. - Focus on authenticity, tension and freedom. Survival vs Wild. He wants to make the players body and nature being the antagonist. Things like broken ribs, different walking stances depending on where you have been injured, diseases (Malaria, Dysentery, Cholera) - Locations with more players will have more chance of spreading disease. - New medical system. - Zombies entirely redeveloped, graphically, animations and AI. - Weapon will have durability, they can jam, NV Goggles will need batteries, if you get shot in the head, the night vision goggles might get damaged for example. - UI removed, talks about a vomiting animation and other cues to show you are sick. - Chernarus Plus is done, new towns, facilities, water fountains balanced, many more fully enterable buildings, eventually all will be enterable. - New Crossbow, new melee items (some may come to the mod) also talks about a bow. - More parts to vehicles, different parts for different effects, for example a battlebus created by adding certain parts to a normal bus. - Timetable (Stable build out this year, November/December for a very low price point, January/February a lot of regular new content. - Working with community to try out new ideas in the mod.

    Acceptable AltF4 Moments

I played once where all the people in the server were killed and teleported to a little arena area and told to fight to the death. At this moment I alt F4'd because even though I had nothing to lose or gain, I just wanted to go play normally on another server

    Acceptable AltF4 Moments

Even people with beefy PCs have trouble at times cos of how much power is required to render each zombie and when you have 200 spawning into an area it's a pain in the ass. Even rocket said it and they're drastically increasing the optimisation for the standalone. Don't condescend people and tell them to upgrade. Not everyone can upgrade willy nilly or are made of money

DayZ is a joke in its current form

I understand the novelty of it, I really do, but it gets boring very fast and I actually feel bad killing other humans in the game. Feels counter intuitive to what the game is about. Player interaction is more than shooting on sight. Best DayZ experience I ever had was spawning when I just got the game about 4 months ago, it was my fourth time into the game and I met a dude who was geared up with a pistol and he just let me team up with him and go on an adventure together and he showed me the ropes. Not once was there ever a "will he shoot me" type of mentality

DayZ is a joke in its current form

It was some terrible luck I think. And the server had 14 people on it :/ I found it odd. I spawned near cherno at the docks and ran about 10 yards (not very far anyway) and saw a guy with a turban and he had no weapon but kept going to my back and when I ran away he stopped but followed soon after and shot me in the back. Now he could have stopped to spawn in some gear or whatever to kill me but he was still right there when I spawned Then spawning in three valleys I met 2 dudes. One died from zeds, he allowed to spawn elsewhere I assume. Then After I helped the remeaining dude another guy with a shotgun started blasting me. It was so frustrating to be killed twice at spawn. I was killed more after that but these two stuck out the most

DayZ is a joke in its current form

There was a kill count, not everyone could see it but you could. Also the rest of your post kind of contradicts what you said before. You said you would shoot every person on sight? why is that exactly? Im hoping the new changes that rocket said would be in the standalone stop this shit
