Need Medical Assistance? We can help.

I broke my leg yesterday far from anywhere. I had a basic idea of where I was and knew it was a long crawl to the nearest hospital. I put a message up on the forums to find out what options I had and thankfully, Psychobob was willing to assist. After a private message, he jumped onto my server and made his way to me, sorted my broken leg and gave me some cooked meat. So I think he should be added to the list. Very nice guy. He also recorded the little adventure!

    Realism

This is like watching a film that is a bit gritty and trying to add a sense of realism while also adding in some action and you have a person constantly bitching that 'that wouldn't happen, that's so unrealistic'. Bottom line; it's a game. There are zombies, you can run for hours without needing to stop, my guy has been alive for 4 days and has yet to sleep, piss or shit and I can get shot and keep on running. Yes, there is a SENSE of realism, but you also need to open your mind some and accept some stuff. Don't be such a bitch.
  7. I'd be pissed off if this happened in a full retail release, something you spent hours, days, even weeks working towards and then BOOM gone. In a full, finalised retail relase, yeah, would anger me. In a game you are testing things of the this nature are expected. Yeah, it can suck, but that's how it. This is just some of the kinks they have to work out, assuming of course it was hackers

    Disconnect after being shot solution?

I think there should be a proper log out. If you don't log out properly (which should have a timer) and alt+f4, then you spawn down south with nothing again. Athough this wouldn't be very fair if you d/c...

    Ppl still play this? Lol

I'll reply to this to atleast salvage something of interest from this thread. It is amazing how a game is hyped and hyped and hyped and finally its released, everyone relishes in its release for a week or two and then they move onto the next big release. It's almost like people prefer being part of the hype machine rather than playing the game itself. It's best to avoid hype. Take Batman: Arkham City for example. I can remember they started revealing stuff for that game well before its release date, they've even said it's out at the end of 2011 but it was over a year before they started showing screenshots and telling people little snippets. I understand why developes and publishes need to do this, but getting people so hyped up is just setting them up for a dissapointment. Ignore the hype and screens and info and make your own call when its released. The best thing about the sheer amount of game releases is how quickly game prices come down.

    Day Z Urban Legends

    I'd be game for that.
  14. I don't know what you call the weapons that aren't military, I assumed its civilian/farmer stuff. But anyway... Currently I'm doing the best I've ever done since playing DayZ ie have been surviving a long time. I'm carrying a Lee Enfield and a Revolver and have plenty of ammo for each. So this got me thinking - why should I seek out military stuff? I came across a deer stand and found an AK47 with one clip. I debated for a time about taking when but realised my rifle suited me fine and I atleast had double the ammo than what I would of got with the AK. Plus ammo seems incredibly rare for military stuff and easy to find for civilian weapons. Plus to get the ammo, you'd need to go into military bases and airfields, notorious places for shoot on sight. I was crawling near an airfield earlier to investgate and I heard gunfire. After a quick look over with my binoculars, I just ran away. So the question is; is it worth it? My currently weapons can kill zombies with one shot regardless of headshot. Is it worth seeking out more with such a huge risk?

    Truth Time Rockett

Ah, I wouldn't try to rationalize with the guy. He overlooks logic even though he demands it, changes the conversation when he knows he's being childish and insults everyone and then claims everyone is insulting him. Let this die, the guy is just a troll.

Gotta be careful out there at night. Plenty of guys just waiting, clutching their shafts tightly so they can blow their load in your face.

  18. Don't regret buying Arma II for it one bit and will happily buy a stand alone version.

Why does it bother you though that other people like this Mod? Why does it bother you that people support it? And the way you descibed the game (Spawn, look, kill, die repeat), well, gaming is about repetiton. Mastering a task is about repetiton. Think back to all those old games where aim was 'jump, jump, jump, jump'. Still fun though. You can boil anything down into 5 word structure to show its simplicity and make it sound shitty. People forget though that this is a free mod for Arma II. They moan and cry and say it's a failure and they don't like, even though it's a free mod that is still being built. But again, if people like you don't like the game OR the community, why continue to hang around and bitch at everyone? Ok, lets talk the Call of Duty point, shall we? You say it's a slow CoD. Well, as this is mod for Arma II, Arma II is a tactical shooter. So, in a way, you're right. Except CoD is tiny maps with the emphasis on killing each and unlock stuff. The goal here is to survive and eat and drink and stay warm and yes, shoot if you have to. Some of the community choose to treat the game like a shooter but that is theire choice because, again, even if you can't see it, the game offers you to choose how you act. I really dunno what else to tell you. You don't like the mod, then go. If it really bothers you that much, go play something more for you.

Way to lash out... I think my post was polite as possible and and no ill was intended by it but you appear to have taken it quite personally. I never mentioned anything about you being upet, nor did I bring up the concept of the game being un/original. That's all you assuming I'm just a fanboy for merely liking the game. Yeah, I like the game but it's cetainly not without it's problems. "OMG HE ENJOYS SOMETHING WE DON'T! WHAT A SUCK UP LOL!!" If you really don't like the game then fine. Don't play. I, on the other hand, do enjoy the game. Why? Because I do. It appeals to me. Sure, recommed to me other stuff and I might try it, I'm always open to new suggestions in gaming and films and music ect. Because I prefer to do the things I enjoy, rather than bitch about the things I don't.

This is post is made under the assumption that everyone just camps and kills. I too, was naive enough to think that. But it isn't true. That's the players choice when doing this though. Look through these forums and look at the amount of stories that people have to tell. THAT is what DayZ is about. How people got through yesterday, or people get through today and how they'll get through tomorrow. The funny, sad, angry and even strange stories DayZ has brought out have shown what the community is like. Call it a slow Call of Duty if you like but explore more than Elektro and Cherno and you'll see its a big world out there. It may appear empty but there's always something waiting to happen.
  22. I do agree. Plus if death is going to happen I just accept it. Strangely, I found the times when I just risked it all and ran into a town have been the most rewarding. The other morning I ran into Cherno. It was quite empty since it was early and no one was around. I found a Enfield rifle and just sat on the roof of the fire station picking zombies off. Then I grabbed some gear. I was expecting to die any moment but I've found I've been surviving quite well. It it all started in a stupid risk!
  23. MeatAbstract

Staing alive. But how "old" are you?

When you log in it tells you where you are and how many days you have been alive. I think I've been alive 2 days, probably the best I've done so far! I can hunt and have loads of water bottles and have plenty of ammo, so no need to go into the cities.

Myshkino lights was probably the best story I've heard on here so far. Very well written as well! Let's keep the magic rolling, people.

    Eating & Drinking

Is it me or do we have to eat and drink with great regularity? Do now get more hungry and thirsty with the more you run, or is this how quick it is now?
