Gonna have to give the Medal to Elektro. Not only sniper hill but the high density of military loot next to medical and residential and survival loot all right on top of each other makes it a very frequented spot. Though a good counter sniper will take out those pesky bandits on the Hill :D

Well, coming from a hero he has not only run with bandits at one point (we all skeletons in our closets) but has also been a hero for about 5 months. Deal with them like you do every other player. Unless your a KoS'er then well... I guess it does't matter. A lot of people boost for Hero status just to troll with people. The some are the TMW's or like me, they ran around on a server with people who were bad at gun fights :P and Medic'd there little butts off. But that was way back when, now I maintain Hero by NOT killing survivors, though I am a bandit hunter. I have 43k humanity and I always come across people who just shoot at me, then when I explain I am a hero they either A. don't know what that means, I have even had people try to kill me for my clothes or B. they think I boosted and am Just a bandit with a nice suit. Very rarely do I meet someone who just goes "oh hey your a hero let me help you" even though I ALWAYS advertise that I am a medic and invite people to my TS/Skype or Steam chat to discreetly find a location....sorry got a tad ranty there. Anywho Approach a Hero like you would any other player. Smartly, try to see what they are doing, and who they are with. If you see a hero sitting in a crowd of bandits, odds are he is a booster or a bandit medic. You see a lone guy alone in a building looting? talk to him through a wall or something. It all depends on the situation.

Two sections I would like to see are things I'm always helping people with such as Handling a person to person situation i.e. you just randomly bump into some one or you find yourself on the wrong end of an AK barrel. Basically how to NOT KoS and how to handle a sniper without a sniper either by escape or elimination.

Problem number one, You didn't aim for the head. nope thats about it. When it comes to the Dayz Mod I don't suggest using pistols in PVP unless its absolutely needed. I've scored a few Kills with my PDW and a G17 but they went down in two to five hits because I got them with either a DMR first or a headshot.

I'd say the only problem you made was shooting this man on site, you had the drop on him you very easily could have sighting him and started talking to him and if he tried anything funny taken him out. Ya never know he could have had a truck with extra fuel in it.

Holy shit thats the flashiest ad for a server i've ever seen. But to the OP, I don't play on private hives either (don't feel like working back up to 42k humanity). But it is true, if you are going to play public the Hackers and SK are a risk that you have to take, I would suggest going on lower populated servers I jump off a server when hit hits 20+. Not because I'm afraid but generally SK's like to ruin as many days as they can and so they usually don't go on servers with less people. Other then that I'd say get a home server on a private hive.

What are you rules on Play time? I currently am able to play only a day or two a week as I have College and Work and other facets of life that require daily attention.

Check DayZDB if your playing on official servers. And a common place for a camp of vehicles is Grozovy Pass the very very top left corner of the map

I am also in the St. Louis area I cannot play Dayz as often as I'd like to due to college but add me on skype at eliteskittle and maybe at some point we can slay some zambies together!

Sometimes when I know I'm going to DIe I AFK and alt+tab and open League of Legends fucking long as loading time for some reason AI in both games needs work

Is Hacking bad? Yes hacking is bad. Is hacking FUN would be a far better question. I assume to those that get to hack they would say yes. I on the other hand dislike 99.9% of hacks i've seen, with exception of a one flying PBX me and a friend found on a server after a hacker's client crashed Some people will view all hacks, be they fun or otherwise as an evil vile scourges and some people will view some hacks (such as flying PBX) fun. But yes hacking is bad But on the note of your friend, yes he did infact deserve his ban as the rules are VERY clear, and I am sorry to hear about that. But he should have done his research :/ Leave.

Welcome Firstly to Gaming via PC and secondly to Dayz My tips would be find forums for whatever games you plan on playing and frequent them! You'll meet awesome people and get pro tips. And also STEAM. I would also suggest League of Legends and Team Fortress 2. Both of them are Free to Play and amazing games that are easy to get into but offer a lot in return. Secondly Disregard anything about upgrading your pc every year. Unless you plan on playing the newest Crisis on ultra you should be fine for at least 2 to 3 years I can play everything on High on my PC (sadly my laptop is out of date by far) Thirdly, for the love of all thats Holy get a headset with a microphone, you will have so much more fun and the game will be far better.

My suggestion is always be in control, Lie through your goddamn teeth if you have to, I've been reckless and gotten into some sticky situations and you would not believe how much saying "i've got a sniper watching" will slow someone down. Gives you time to either shoot back or run. But try to stack the odds in your favor, travel in a group, or bring a nice loud gun, or better yet flares and smokes. Nothing keeps a bandit off you like a horde a zombies.

I am in fact a Bandit Hunter who lives in Elektro, I only head to northwest airfield if I am with friends and thats simply because Bandits are not up there as often as you'd think. But yes there are many friendly people. Its more about finding a server though, be it a private hive or a public. Find a serer or two to frequent and get to know the people, if they have a TS or vent server join em! You'll meet all kinds of awesome people.

Then my suggestion to you is Join every private hive and respawn until you find a spawn you like.

i'm gonna have to say nope, it is quite possible you missed hip firing is blind firing basically and your gun does have a decently slow rate of fire it seems. That and if he was a hacker with god mode on, He wouldn't have taken cover.

I'm just going to once again point out, that on the regards to the nighttime thing, its not a matter of dying, its a matter of the game being completely unplayable with my POS monitor and my super low graphics settings that i require to play. Once Dayz gets realistic nighttime lighting i'll turn it down. Till then its not cheating, just as adjusting my render distance to be max is not cheating. And for the rest, its all based on playstyle and since the community patch cheating has been much less of an issue, especially on private hives. all of your other problems are play style, I don't like dying in Dayz so I carry a bunch of food on me what of it? I use a hatchet to kill zombies so? it attracts less zed.

When Dayz has a realistic lighting cycle for night, and the flashlights doesn't suck so hard, then I'll turn my gamma down till then not that it matters I have NVG's And if you are not bitching then what are you doing? what is the purpose of this post? It seems to me that you are pointing out a game mechanics you do not agree with, in some and just bitching in others. People call it as they see it. Seeing a car explode in Zelenogorsk (spelling?) and sprinting over to heal and revive all 3 people, keep the zombies off of them then help them get their gear back that day. And that warm feeling I get when killing a sniper hunting bambi's and then giving said bambi all the gear...minus the sniper

The Lee is a poor mans sniper rifle in my opinion. It is a nice gun, got all the benefits of a sniper rifle, minus the scope. Its accurate, got good range high damage AND with the added bonus of a dinner bell attachment. If i'm doing a medium ranged fight then I'd take a Lee over many of the other guns in game.

Also the radio's if you do ever find one, the coordinates that it spews out are the Deer Stands around the map. Never heard the morse code theory sounds like a lame Creepy Pasta if you ask me. Basically Its a can of soda, gives me headaches though, so I never drink it and in game, I blow them up as they are said to be cursed and I for one and not going to test that theory.

I agree with what I believe orlock was saying. Adding more depth to each task, making you WORK for that can of beans and that gun is not making the game worse. It is making it for more rewarding, while more difficult yes, but there is nothing wrong with working for your reward (or others if your a bandit). But its a suggestion thread at the same time, 99.9% of the suggestions are not going to be implemented or already have been in some way, the standalone will be its own game, that will be a work in progress hopefully I won't starve to death in 30 minutes, but I don't expect it to be easy.

So DayZ, we all know what it is. Its this big action packed survival experience that just gets better and better with each passing month and with the standalone looming in the distance I had to make a tough decision. Kill myself or not Kill myself? With the exception of the last month I have been playing almost daily for three months now and I have been alive the entire time. I have survived hordes of hackers, bunches of bandits, uncountable Kill on Sighters, glitches; bugs and even the dreaded zombie or two. Basically I've been alive for 90+ days with 45k humanity and lived through it all. I've dropped all my gear except for my trusty DMR I posted about a while back. But anyways the point is, should I kill my character? Just drive a car off a cliff or some such? Basically i'm bored, got full gear and i want the starting over experience and I sadly am weak willed and can't bring myself to drop all my gear.
