  1. Eating beans should make you fart randomly with a possibility to alert zombies and other players of your presence.

I've become attached to my gear.

Normally I don't attach to my gear but damn, I never got the chance to fire from my newly acquired M249...

    Day Z Urban Legends

Once, I was walking into a bandit ambush when a loud noise blew his cover. After a brief gunfight his AK finally went silenced. Carefully approaching his location revealed three other corpses and a can of beans lying there on the ground. This had to be my luckiest day cause I was starving to death and had no food left on me. I immediately ate the beans and was excited even more to see the can still sitting in my inventory. Was it a glitch or a bug? Must be I thought, as I ate from it few more times to replenish my health. Then, all of a sudden, I hear footsteps not so far away from me. Instinctivly I go prone and crawl to the side to get a better view. And there I get the sight of another unaware survivior walking right into my trap. Being in a perfect position for an ambush this great day was just about to turn into a fucking great day. Just need to let him come closer few more steps....PppffffferrrrrrRRrrrrrt!!!

    dayz pvp complexity

Right now it is player enforced and it turned into a FFA DM. There must be some mechanic enforced if you want to see cooperation or it won't happen.
  5. Every single person placing their tent on the edge of the map deserves it. Keep up the good work OP.
  6. Against it. Make the ammo for sniper rifles scarce and problem solved.
  7. Humans evolved faster than animals because we early realized that survival is easier through cooperation hence the formation of tribes... We wouldn't grow into a society if we were different in nature. Even many animal species live in herds/packs to survive.
  8. Too much paranoia among players. Every single person I let live shot me in the back, that was before I became bandit and began KOS everyone. As bandit I survived much longer and it is the only viable way to play unless you have some rl friends you can trust. If I had friends playing dayz I wouldn't care about mod turning into a deathmatch. As the other guy said, the game is what we (the community) make of it and we made shit, especially around the coast.

not fun to die to campers

Being impatient and lazy gets you killed in this game.
  10. Yesterday, I found a Winchester in the barn with no ammo and decided to keep it. Went out and logged out. Today I immediately went back inside and saw another guy in there, sneaked up on him and click-click... remembered why I had to check the barn.
  11. When I focus on survival it is about a week or two until I do something silly and get myself killed. As the other guy said, few canteens and hunting/cooking equipment is all you need really, and weapons and ammo can be obtained from deer stands.

    Ghost flies?

The other day I found a dead body which fell into ground by itself while I was looting it. I guess after some time dead bodies slide beneath the ground on their own.
  13. Most people kill on sight because there's nothing else to do once you stock on supplies and get decent gear, which doesn't take very long.

    Logical suggestion - Remove NVG?

I like it. It's not that it is too hard finding or looting them from others but the fact that almost everyone playing during nights use them so its damn hard to find anyone. If we were all forced to use flashlights and road flares it would be much easier to spot and be spotted which would make things a lot more interesting.

    Solo play + recovering blood

I'm on the opposite side of the fence here. I think healing yourself with stakes is far to easy to ever need anyone for help. I've been down to less than 3000 health and healed my self back up in less than an hour hunting animals and cooking meat. Why would I be risking getting shot around hospitals searching for medpacks when I can heal fast enough cooking steakes deep in the woods?
  16. Killing other players is an integral part of Dayz. It makes this mod thrilling and fun to play, and in my opinion shouldn't be removed, restricted or penalized in any way. What is missing is an incentive to cooperate with others. I've been alive for many days now but tbh I'm growing tired of surviving alone in the wild. For a change I want to play with others yet I don't feel suicidal to do so. So, what I think we need is some type of a common goal. Something that is easier to achieve with a group of people but not impossible on your own, if that is how you like to play. And one such thing could be killing Zeds. Lets say we need a certain amount of Zeds killed before we can use a better type of weapon. Wait, don't leave yet and think about it. We already have kill counter in place which serves no purpose besides placing your name on leaderboards. We have Zeds which present challenge only when aggroed. And we have scarce ammo which we almost never run out of since we rarely fire a weapon. Killing Zeds with such a purpose could change all that, make the game more challenging and limit the amount of pointless PKing in several ways. First, killing Zeds is now our common goal and easier to do with someone watching your back. Second, PKing makes less sense now if we're not qualified to use that other guy's weapon. Last, getting to use top tier weapons means staying alive long enough to achieve required kill count (which could be days) as opposed to swift run to your buddies' camp to resupply in less than 15 minutes after dying (I'm watching at you bandits). So, would you still rather kill the guy standing next to you whose weapon you can't use (or is just slightly better than yours) and can help you survive and kill more Zeds instead, or would you actually group with him this time around? What say you? :)
  17. @Shorttallguy Its funny to imagine what would become of that random group of survivors that managed to reach that one special rare item. Who gets to take it? :) Not a bad idea though, defenetly not artificial as mine.
  18. @wolfsburg62 There needs to be something to keep PKing in line with reality in order for this mod to be a real simulation of apocalypse. Right now its more a PvP deathmatch than a survival simulator because you're better off at surviving on your own which should not be the case. @Dazbuzz Might be wrong here but it sounds to me you're not doing much grouping with strangers yourself either. Talking to other players and grouping with them becomes a problem when all they need you for is that sweet loot in your backpack.
  19. They tried that with bandit outfits but the problem was that a survivor killing a bandit in self defense would appear as bandit to other survivors later on. Also, committing a murder out of despair (hunger or thirst) would permanently make you a bandit which is also a form of limiting the ability to play the game from that moment on. In reality no one would know you killed some poor guy deep in a forrest two days ago. The problem is the game still didn't achieve that level of realism, which is relying on others for a better chance of survival instead of shoot everyone on sight.
  20. Well nothing prevents a group of bandits attacking a sole survivor now anyways. Fear of getting killed should make group of bandits think twice before attacking though, if death resets you back to using low tier weapons. I do agree it feels a bit arcade-ish but could make the game more fun to play without sacrificing too much realism imo.
  21. Sorry my mistake, could you please move the thread there?
