    Dont waste precious characters on someone talking about unfinished material in an alpha. You dont have to defend anything like a blind fanboy, but complaining about things beiing unfinished in an alpha is just a new level of stupidity.

    Who's idea was it to make spawns in Berezino?

    I have to agree that i liked the old progression from south to north much more, Balota, Cherno, Elektro and the barns between just offered enough for any playstyle, balota and elektro for the speedrunners and cherno / the barns for a more tactical approach and i would like to see balota nerfed and the spawns return to the south or the whole coast. But I`m sure this will be tweaked later down the line when all cities are done and the loot tables are configured. I guess this is something to consider for beta. And between, the new blue hospital are everywhere, so berezino doesn`t have the only one in the north.

I would really like to see the brightness and gamme sliders go, yes people can use external mechanisms to manipulate this but removing the ingame mechanic will help a lot because these people that like unfair advantages are lazy. On the other hand i think the default values should be tweaked, in reality if you are in the open and there and not much clouds it can actually be quite bright in the night even if you are not near civilization. But if i just want to travel at night on the roads, not in the forests, its with default gamma almost impossible to see the road. Just tweak it a little bit. And having played a lot recently at night, i really have to say that i have a problem with the flashlight indoors. Maybe its something with me but - especially in narrow building like the new sa appartments - it really makes me feel uncomfortable after a while. Even remembering the old flashlights we had when i was young you could change the focus to have a wider light indoors. The current flashlight seems to be focused on long range so the light indoors is just way to narrow. The modern, civillian led flashlight i have today... if i turn it on in a room the WHOLE room is illuminated. It doesnt have to be so extreme in dayz but i would like to see the flashlight adjustable or automatically adjusted indoors.

    Maybe its hard for some folks here to think a little bit more abstract. While the problem occured when the op did something he could have avoided by logging out in a better position it still is a problem. And some of us remember how it was in the mod where it could get worse with every update. Its the same engine modified so it could get worse anytime if noone tells the devs about it. We are playing an alpha, we are SUPPOSED to find and report issues. NOT to find workarounds. This is not to make it more convenient or less hardcore or give someone godmode, it is to address an issue with your character spawning in before you have control. Which could be avoided easily. I admit the op was not very clever in this situation and i don`t like the tone of his complaint but nonetheless the issue he brings up is valid.

    Multiple people already tried to explain to you that no one has a problem with games loading. Everyone understands that. The problem we have is with the processing order. And it should not be a problem to let the game load with all assets, report full loading and THEN spawn your character in. Regarding the discussion what causes the problem, if i recall correctly from the early mod times (anyone remember when the mod took 10 minutes to load and this was considered normal... hard times) it was worse the longer the server was up. Ping etc did not matter but if a server was not restarted frequently the amount of time it needed to load was hugely increased. I dont run a server myself but i think it might be something with ram beeing consumed and not released properly when its not needed anymore. And since DayZ SA servers still need frequent restarts (not for the loot but for performance) this might still be an issue. Then we would at least have some more time until it happens when 64 bit servers are supported ;)

    Totally agree with rick grimey. Yes, it was not the best thing to log out near a high pop area. BUT it adresses problem which has every right to be adressed, at least this is what i thought this forums where made for. It was a problem in the mod and it still is in the standalone (it has much improved but it is still there) that you are present in the games world before you can see and act. And this can be adressed to and sorted out by the developers. No need for all the negativity.

    Anyone else think DayZ should switch engines?

    What imho most people don`t understand is that dayz was not successful ALTHOUGH it used the rv3 engine but BECAUSE it used the rv3 engine. It has its problems, i think everyone can agree on this. But what made dayz unique was the massive map, the most realistic landscape i have ever seen in a game, the exact simulation of the players body (instead of beiing a stick with a gun mounted to the chin like in other fps/tps), the tactical element made possible by realistic (slow) movement and a huge view distance, and so on. So in my eyes improving the engine and not switching to another engine is key to dayz sas success.

    I would like to link a post which i made some time ago because i actually think its a problem which should be adressed and forwarded to the devs. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/144748-august-round-up-devblog-dayzdaily-gamescom/page-2#entry1431469 I talked about the necessity to hire a pr person, which i would at this stage of developement extent to pr person / community manager. I apprectiate what you mods do here but i dont think its the best way to channel information. There needs to be a single point of contact between devs and community to filter and forward useful information from the community to the devs and from the devs to the community and press. Personally i think that a lot of uproar and trouble could be solved with a person responsible for the information exchange.

    I would definetly like to see much more civillian clothings which fit the setting and i would like to see some rare civillian clothings to search for in order to have an "end game" for those who dont want to look military. Maybe they could be found in the camps in the woods dean was talking about or in another spot to gravitate end game survivors. Also i would like to see the fist knockout go to allow people to wear anything else than motorcycle helmets and military / un helmets to avoid beiing owned by a freshspawn. As much as i like to run around in civillian clothes with a radar cap i always have a helmet with me to swap it out. And i really liked the look of arma II dayz 2017, would like to see more of this and less yoloswag stuff added like payday masks or childrens backpacks...

    I posted something like this on the last shitstorm, dont even remember what it was.... i really like deans honesty and there are people who read and think and like the insight his open way to communicate gives us as community. BUT Most people dont and they will rip any little quote out of context to create a story. And you cant really blame people, in times like these where everyone is flooded with information most people dont have the chance to take the time to filter these information if they are not 100% invested in the subject matter. And this is why i said and still say that dean should reduce twittering and interviews and hire a pr person he can trust - not to turn his words into bullshit bingo pr phrases but to filter them and present them in a professional manner with the least possibility to be misinterpreted or ripped out of context.

Would be very interested in the context of this quote, i know rocket has a tendency to talk without any "business phrases" and he is very honest but i guess this quote is a bit misleading without context. But i have to agree this is nothing i want to read from a project lead in the early phase of an alpha i spent money for...

    To be honest I dont know whats wrong with some of you. If i recall correctly (and im pretty sure i do) he said that he would leave the project when its in a state in which his vision could be finished by others who have the skills to do so about a year ago. All things you are moaning about here (wrong priorities etc) are basically THE REASON why he wants to leave, he has a vision of the game but he is self aware enough to realize that he might be missing the experience to round things up in the end. Now all he tells us (since over 1 year) is that he will hand the end of the project to someone who has experience in doing just this 1 year in he future and everyone starts complaining about the alfa in its current state and rocket grabbing money and leave? Whats wrong with you?

    Maybe you should calm down a little bit and do some research before you demand something should be fixed. Please note that Dayz is in absolute easy mode in this stage of the alpha. You can find water bottles and cantines, cans of drinks, can even get water from some food like thuna. You can drink from wells and ponds directly and by filling water bottles and canteens. Later down in the progress of this game you will have to worry if the water is infected, what the condition of cantines and bottles is, if you have purification tablets or if you should risk drinking infected water before dying. THIS will be hard but I`m sure we will adapt. Right now you can reach a water supply from anywhere on the map in less than 5 minutes and spam F until your stomage is full.
  22. No. As others before me have stated, if you want a safe zone, create it. THAT`s the foundation of dayz. Nothing will be safe in the standalone as nothing is safe in real life.

    Hardcore vs Regular servers?

    Hey, with the new patch we will have hardcore and regular servers but i could not find out what the differences are in detail? 1st / 3rd person and "some other hardcore configurations", but what exactly? Are they on the same hive or splitted?
