  1. another bump, these forums are filling up way to fast ;) I googled but could not find a lot about this server, no signs of a clan so far.

    Finding a Home.

    Thats a good question, in the beginning the North-West of Cherno was my Home, later i combined this with Balotta runs. The 5 apartments, the northern hospital and some quick runs to the supermarket... risky but fun. Later when I started moving North I discovered the North East for me, Polana, Berenzino, Krasnostav and the North East Airfield are almost ideal to live for a longer time. Supermarkets, Hospital, Airfield, Military Tents, Deerstands and Heli crashes are frequent enough and you tend to find players like me, solo, cautious, geared and slightly hostile but there are much less snipers or massive groups which can mean a sudden and frustrating death when playing solo. And Stary Sobor is near enough for a quick lootrun.

    First Murder

    "I finally killed my first non-bandit player." "I say, "friendly, don't shoot, I have nothing." No response from him. He then comes out and beings firing on me" So how exactly do you define a bandit? The bandit skin? Bullshit, you can get it in self defense situations and loose it again after a while if you commit cold blooded murder. It is defined by your actions and shooting a guy with lower gear yelling friendly is totally bandit. So basically you killed a bandit in self defense. Nothing wrong about that. Wait until you shoot your first innocent in the back from a rooftop just because you want to test your new cool weapon. I felt so bad i spent a whole day at the beach to help new spawns :)

    Humanity stays in self-defence?

    I totally agree, also i would like to see something implemented that draws more humanity if you shoot someone in the back than if you shoot him frontal to represent "self defense" without the other person shooting first. E.g. i was in a building at night and heard steps, shouted "dont come in" and tried to hide in the corner. The player came in with a shotgun pointed at me. He died from my AKM before he could open fire but i dont consider this a bandit action. Take away some humanity but not as much as if you shoot someone from side or back. Also you should loose more humanity if the person is further away. The bigger the distance the bigger the humanity loss. Like it is at the moment a cautious single player will get his bandit skin soon while groups of snipers bloodbagging theirself will not. Dont like that...
  6. While i like the idea i dont think this will ever happen. I know Rocket has balls but giving players the option to shoot someone and cut him to pieces to eat them and throw their flesh to attract zombies might be a little bit too far...

    100% agree. This is meant to be hardcore and you die if you dont eat or drink every hour. So having your character magically stay alive for 30 days just by doing nothing is soooooo not immersive.

    The Adrenaline Status - Stop ALT+F4ing

    I like this idea a lot, but with a much longer adrenalin status effect time like in your original posting. Why? Because I had situations like the poster above me where i just got into cover and waited for a very long time to make my next move. Why not 5 minutes? And honestly, i have played so many hours now and the only times i get disconnected is when the server restarts. In every other case when i got desynched this was gone after no longer than 5 seconds. Not a single pc crash or disonnect from my side. I wonder what you people are doing... So why not implement a solution to wait for 5 seconds if the player comes back to cover the short disconnects that may happen and set the adrenalin status time to something around 5 mins?

    Make weapon-holstering keybound

    I really like the idea, its fully immersive, would help friendly players to get identified and still leave the option to use the apocalypse as killing spree. Hurts no one, adds to the gameplay. Tasty can of beans for you!

    Prevent Spawn Point "Choosing" by Suicide

    Are you kidding? Even in the Cherno or Elektro Hotspots you can survive that long if your playing it safe and tactical (or in an experienced group) and in the North-East this is not a big deal at all. OT: Honestly I´m okay with respawning as it is at the moment, it would give starting another direction if you are "locked" to a starting point for some time but i see as many advantages for the one solution than for the other. I would just like to ask if someone could explain me why respawning should consume so many server ressources? I would think someone running in a building causing the server to calculate the loot and the zombies to spawn will cause more workload than choosing a spawn location from a small amount of possibilities and contact the hive to update the player inventory and coordinates. Everything else should be handled by the client?

    If you did not enter the building planning to log off then my opinion is: never. Wait, or clear the situation. Just my opinion, if waiting for minutes while thinking about all possible moves and consequences is nothing you like then in my humble opinion this is not the right game for you.

    But isnt that the fun of the game? Not ghosting of course, but not knowing what could happen and DEAL with it? I dont get why so many people use every single exploit or possibility to cheat, this takes all the fun out of the game. If you are in such a tricky situation, do your best and use your surroundings to give you cover in the best possible way. Thats all you can do. If someone tricks you, call him a dickhead and start again. Just like life.

    I had a similar experience, was approaching the same appartment buildings when a guy suddenly opened fire with a silenced m16. Only thing i could do is zig zag run into one of the apartments (one of the 2 stock buildings with two rooms you can enter) and while running upstairs to the top room i see in the corner of my eye another guy looting a dead guy in the lower room. So I ran upstairs, checked if someone was following me and made my way to the room in the back and proned. Staying there with the gun pointed at the door and having a look back every few seconds is 100% safe from ghosting, no one can get a position behind you and noone can enter the door without you noticing. So my vote goes for guilty :P What happened to me was that after 2 or 3 minutes of silence and a 160 pulse I direct chatted the guy in the lower room and after some time we decided to work together, bloodbagged up and when we heard shots outside he took his cz550 and snipered the guy who shot me before and made me run to the apartment. So in my opinion the situation could be handled without combat logging.

    Are you a solo player? I doubt it. Try to make it to 5 supermarkets without the ability to restore health and only canned food. It is an extreme disadvantage to playing in a team.

    I totally agree from a solo player point of view. There has to be a possibility for us to regain blood and I totally like the idea of hunting for it in the woods. But its ridiculously hard to find matches. The best spawn place i have found are supermarkets and without server hopping you have only two of them near the common player spawns. I have found 1 in a house and 1 in the cherno station, thats all.

    Locking server time to server location time

    Hm i`m not sure if I like this idea, I like playing in the dawn but in the night when its pitchblack you either have to cheat with gamma or be shot. Also I have to work a lot so Im only able to play when its getting dark here, so I only have the option to always play at night or accept a really bad ping. I get your point but I cant support it.
  17. Hi all, I do not want to make this a suggestion, I would just like to hear what you would think about and how it would change your way of playing if zombies could run inside buildings? I assume the reason why they do not run in buildings is just a limitation of the arma engine atm, so if Rocket wants to keep things "realistic" I think we will see running zombies in buildings in the mod or in the standalone. For me as a solo player this would change gameplay significantly, specially in the beginning of a new life where i like to speedrun balotta, cherno or elektro to gear up as fast as possible. Without getting rid of zs in building this is not possible. But also in later gameplay when i have my basic gear and become more cautious sometimes (specially now after the weapon nerf) my only rescue is escaping in a building to loose or carefully shoot the zombies. What do you think, will this change gameplay overall? Maybe in the direction of a more cooperative gameplay due to the bigger thread? Personally Im unsure, I like the method of gearing up fast and thinking about being only able to loose them by running in the woods or around buildings or to shoot them doing their zig-zag maneuvers is nothing i would like. But at the moment its just not immersive to see them slow down in buildings or steep hills. okami

    What if zombies could run inside buildings?

    Don`t know if that`s exactly what you meant but I just had the picture in mind of the player running into the firestation and close all doors. Zombies at the three front doors hitting and scratching the metal doors. So the player has the option to escape through the rear door or first try to loot the place before after a random time the zs are able to destroy the doors and invade the firestation. That would be pure horror, standing in the tower and hear the doors collapse.
  19. I totally support this idea and think melee weapons and tranquilizer bolts for the crossbow would be the best solution. Have my beans!

    PvE DayZ servers petition.

    I really dont understand most of you. Some people want pvp, some people dont. How can you even dare arguing about this, its personal taste and it cant be argued. If someone doesnt get bored by cooperating then why not? And what i also dont understand is why people on the other hand are all the time crying for pve servers. As i posted before you can do this on your own by hosting an own server and posting it in the newby section to attract as many friendly players as possible or just find enough people to protect a server against bandits. You can have small 40 people server so this should be easily done if just the people asking for pve servers in this forum TODAY would team up. This would not be a perfect pve where you cant get shot but it would create a server like i think most of you pve guys want. Or just try one of the private hive servers, they often have global chat enabled and i have seen bigger groups cooperating a lot. Its not my personal taste because global chat is just not immersive but its there and you can use it. Finally: The game is not pve or pvp, its sandbox. We can make of it what we want.

    'Save Character' Scroll wheel option

    What I really dont understand is why there is no saving when you exit the game properly. From what I experienced the game saves every few minutes to the hives and if you exit after collecting something and prior to the save you loose it? So why not just force a save when leave the game properly? Would solve all issues. At the moment this can also be used as an exploit, after lossing ALL my ammo for my M16 yesterday to this I tried if it can be abused and practiced my aim with my cz550 and wasted two magazines. I locked out and when I came back they were all still there. I will not use this for my own advantage but some people could.

    Simple fix to deathmatch?

    I have a little bit mixed feelings about this. On the one hand I have to admit I just like the pvp. Not just for the killing but for the adrenalin rush I have when getting hunted, shot or ambushed. Dealing with these situations and with the fear they could happen anytime is what makes this game so intense for me after I reached the part were i can handle zombies easily if I dont get unconscious in one hit. On the other hand I would like to see some more content which encourages teamwork. But I think the solutions you have would only help those people which are already organized in groups and make it harder for solo players because they still have a hard time to find someone they can trust. And one other thing I want to mention is that it also depends on the way you play yourself. I play a semi-friendly (avoid contact with armed people, if they see me i try to get away and chat if possible and shoot back if fire is opened, help unarmed if possible) on german servers and I had some really nice friendly encounters even with armed players and even when I had decent gear. And yeah, sadly I have to mention that I`m not a "carebear" or whatsoever, I just play immersive and would not kill every frickin one in a real apocalypse.
  23. From time to time i was bored and read some posts in the forum and every day the same suggestions are repeated over and over. Stop pvp, we need pvp free servers, punish bandits and so on. Followed by the usual bandit / carebear fight. So here is my suggestion: Dont change the game, change the way you play it. I`m playing games since the late 80s and this is the one of the most impressive games I came across so far. Period. What makes it so great (besides the setting and the ultra-realism i missed so much in games) is that it is totally sandbox. We the players have the opportunity to do everything we want. So instead of begging the developers to bend the game the way you want it, why not get organized and do it yourself? If you want a pvp free server go fight for it. Organize in the forums, choose a server and go fight the bandits! You can meet at certain times ingame, organize, report bandits, elect leaders, form groups to go out and get them. IF so many players want pvp free servers this should be no problem. The game offers all you need to do this! Maybe the server will never be totally free of bandits but it will be a much safer place as long as you keep cleaning it. So please stop complaining, stop hoping someone else will solve your issues. Do it by yourself. This is what sandbox is all about. Thanks okami
  24. Learn reading, thinking and understanding before trying to teach me. I´m just making a suggestion for players to start something on their own instead of asking the developer do do something rocket has told us he will not do.
