I already said i would like the mod to be as hard as possible so i would not be dissapointed. I know which statements from dean you refer to, but lets have a look at two other facts: 1) What you imagine the standalone to be like is basically dayz 2017 (from loot perspective). I dont have access to my gaming client at the moment but i am sure if i check the population on dayz 2017 servers the results are disastrous. 2) Dean still plans to release Dayz Standalone on consoles in the future. Maybe not cross platfrom multiplayer but still the same game. Combining these two facts give me the impression that you might not understand Deans intentions 100%. I do not think the standalone will be an ultra frustrating starve-to-death game, instead my impression is that Dean just gives us much more tools to change the focus on survival. More medicine, infected food and water, etc. I think we will not all starve to death but instead we will just have to loot more basic items to fullfill our virtual needs and not grab a can of beans and coke on the way to the next firestation. The focus on the game will change, but not by making it "more hardcore" but by putting more weights on the survival side of the scales. This is my impression and time will proof one of us wrong. And based on my perspective of the standalones focus i`m sure 3rd person will not be erased from the game. And i can almost guarantee you this means in no way that standalone will be watered down to something us long running fans do not like. One more thing. Please, PLEASE, do not confuse internet polls with democracy in any way. If Dean sets up an official election, this election is made popular and aware to EVERYONE playing dayz and planning to buy the standalone, the results of THIS election are a democratic decision. A poll on one of the many dayz forums, as well as a poll on reddit, are in no way represenative of anything. As stated before, polls like this gravitate the group of people raging about a certain topic MUCH MORE than the people who are happy with state of the art. Thats human nature. -

OK in this case i have to admit i understood this sentence wrong (english is a foreign language for me.. but i think as you wrote your sentence it was easy to misunderstand...). Sorry for that. But i still dont share your thoughts on this matter, but i think i have expressed my thoughts enough ;) Please just dont see things just black and white, most of the stuff out there is grey. Dayz is not either hardcore-1st-person-so-hard-it-makes-you-cry or spawn-in-heli-with-sniper-battlefield. Its the thing in between and i have faith in rocket to find the best spot. Do I want it as hard as possible? Hell yeah. But i also want world peace, endless dope and a giant sandwich right now. We cant have everything and have to make compromises. But as i said, i trust in rocket to find the best ones. -

Lets just wait and see. I expressed myself rather worried about the direction of standalone after the e3 footage was released. I did not like some of the changes and the lighter tone of the gameplay (brighter colors etc). But in the meantime i read about the recent changes and saw new gamescom footage and i am convined again rocket will find a way to please the masses and still bring us an awesome game. Just look at his way to address kos, shooting players will destroy parts of their gear. This is by far the best idea to stop kos while staying true to the game. And to be honest i think his ideas of handling the 3rd person issue are way superior to just disabling 3rd person completeley. -

i dont know why everyone thinks that only the hardcore elite veterans will be playing the standalone. The veterans are not even the only ones playing the mod, there are still newbies bying arma for dayz mod more than 1 year after the release. And the standalone is trimmed to make dayz more accessable, thats clearly one of rockets goals. Dayz standalone was just voted IGNs peoples choice award at the gamescom over Witcher 3, Battlefield 4, Titanfall or Watchdogs. Dean tried to calm the masses down by lowering the expectations but if they dont fuck it up completely the standalone will be a big seller. Do i like this? I`m not sure. But its a fact which should not be ignored in this elitist discussion about if "we" hardcore veterans want 3rd or 1st person. It`s not all about "us", its about balancing the standalone between the veterans and the masses. -
To be honest the best moments of early dayz for me where running through the woods not knowing if i was anywhere near a high populated area, constantly looking over my shoulder and concentrating on every bush and crazy logs gave me heart attacts. If i would imagine my first experiences in dayz would be riding my bike into cherno while a group of bandits tried to outrun me with crazy bmx styles... it might not exactly have been what dayz was supposed to be... Also i dont know why everyone is complaining about the running speed in arma 2. Its as realistic as possible while adjusting some things to fit into game mechanics. Otherwise you wouldnt have to eat a steak every 30 minutes. And if you really compare it to real life, 18 kph is not even impossible, people run half marathons with 20 kph. Yes they do not wear backpacks full of engines but you get my point. Its not totally unrealstic and tweaked to be enjoyable.

This! If you remember back when you started palying dayz, what where the little things you talked about? Why cant we enter more buildings? Why are there no spawns up north near Berezino? Why is performance going crazy when i enter cherno? Why are loading times so incredibly long? Why can i loose a zombie by standing in a bush? Everything i would have liked to be changed was changed in dayzero. And everything was done in a way 100% respectful to the vanilla mod. And with an amazing focus on detail. While most mods tried to fit in as many changes as possible, dayzero is vanilla reloaded. I`m looking forward to aftermath but until then dayzero is the number 1 mod for me. But as others have already stated, no mod of the mod can be compared to the standalone, modding can only work with the tools the engine allows while editing / rewriting the engine gives endless possibilities.

That was pretty much what came to my mind, too and what i wanted to point out in my previous post. There WAS progress made on the zombies and we could see it in previous devblogs. But if people did not see it and only read the latest news (e.g. in germany some of his reddit posts are often presented as news on one of the biggest gaming news sites!) that there was zero progress on zombies in a zombie game but motorcycle helmets and trolling radios are in the game, this is bad PR! In my eyes they should really think about hiring a PR person, they dont need a fulltime jobber just a freelancer who communicates with the devs, keeps track of the progress and puts out some information in a professional manner. In my opinion rockets attempt to be 100% honest is absolutely honarable and he deserves props for doing so but the majority of people wont read all of his information bits but only some. And if you dont get the full view of someone being 100% honest you can get a hell of a wrong impression. Thats why some people still dont understand that there never was a release date last year for THIS version of the standalone we will get now. So in an information bit like this a PR person would emphasis on the progress they made while saying that there would still be a lot of work to do. Which is even truer than Rockets statement but would not have the potential to upset people. And lets be real here, people like me are still defending the standalone and telling people to be patient, but the perception outside of this hardcore fanbase is getting worse and worse. Please dont pretend thats wrong or that its absolutely enough if only the hardcore fanbase will buy the game. People are putting hard work in the standalone and they should be rewarded. But there is a problem that has to be dealt with and in my eyes thats pr related. -

Hm but did they not show a video some months ago with the new zombie pathfinding? I remember seeing a dev version with the pathfinding indicators on screen and if i recall correctly Dean talked about the progress and how zombies could now run inside because of the new pathfinding. I mean its good to hear the progress but after seeing the above + devblogs where they did motion capturing for the new zombies and seeing the new zombie animations in game... to hear that they are 0% done is a little bit strange to me. -

I generally play friendly and only shoot people who try to kill me but sometimes i just logon to a server to see if i can get a balotta / cherno / elektro spawn and try to have fun with some urban warfare. So I know how good the pvp in this game is. But honestly, do we have to discuss why people dont like bandits? I know young people often cant understand it but as soon as you start a job you will not have endless amount of time to play video games. And in DayZ it can take hours to find all gear you want, specially when youre a lone wolf... and you really think people should not complain when they get shot after they spent their whole week gearing up but be happy that there are bandits to keep the game tense? Its just human nature that they complain. I dont know how many discussions of people complaining about pvp this forum has already seen. And how many discussions of people complaining about people complaining about pvp. Both sides have valid points, both sides will never be happy. So just accept and shut up. Both sides.

You asked us for opinions and what you could improve. I think you can find it in our answers. Most people here play DayZ constantly, do you really think a montage of you with an assault rifle spraying defenseless players would impress a lot of people? If you want to make bandit montages sneak and follow players, play smart, choose groups or people with better weapons or at least a weapon AT ALL, aim precisely and fire single shots at a time. Or rob people without killing. Or approach players and let them decide if they trust you or fire the first shot and only act in self defense.That would be something to watch. And please choose better music ;)

Nope im talking about Mr Braveheart in the Cherno Apartments. Maybe he is doing inventory tetris, maybe hes afk. Anyway there is no skill involved. You can blindly bandit if you want, i dont dig it but im okay with that, but if you want to show something to people show at least the good stuff

Dude, i watched 2/3 of this and all i saw was killing a friendly, an afk and several dudes with hatchets by spraying & praying with an assault gun. What do you think could be improved?

No no, we don`t have any real bans here in germany, there are games/movies which cannot be sold normally in shops and no advertisements for them are allowed. But to be honest i cant remember the last title that was treated so. Maybe manhunt if anyone remembers this. But there are still cuts in games to get 18+ ratings without problems. But thanks jebus we are seeing less and less of this crap, too. And if so we just buy our games in Austria for the same price. edit: Actually i forgot there are a few games which are forbidden to be sold in germany. But its still legal to buy them in another country and bring them to germany. And most of them is related to showing nazi-stuff. -
I was just about to open a new suggestion for this but i found this so excuse me for digging it out. I think the suggestion is valid for one major reason: The huge disadvantage this gives solo players to teams. I know, in a perfect dayz world we would have strangers playing who are forced to group up to help each other. In reality we have groups on ts that will shoot everyone not in their team on sight and some solo players who have been shot a few times to often to help. Dont get me wrong, i like the challenges of dayz and i would be totally fine if everyone had to take them. But since groups will need 10 minutes to stack up on bloodbags and have infinite life as long as they are quick enough on the mouse wheel, the lone wolf has to search for an axe, knife and matches, get out of the city, find animals with his screen black and white and eat a few cows and pigs to be restored. It might be intended to increase cooperation but this does not work. So in my opinion we would need self bloodbags or at least more health from an animal to balance things out. And balance should be one of the things we should work towards at this state of the mod.
