  1. You know how sometimes when you hit 'Z' your character will just drop into to prone on the spot from stationary, but other times he will run forward a little then drop into prone? What cause the run forward to occur before prone? I ask because after stealing a DMR from someone who wasn't watching their back in Balotta a friend and I headed to Cherno to loot the hospital. I was covering from the roof of the opposite apartments when I spotted two people running north up the open hillside. Eager to get my first ever player kill, let alone my first sniper kill, I went prone only to watch my character swan dive off the roof to an embarrassing and infinitely frustrating death. So what causes that movement forward before entering prone? Any help?
  2. I'm chronicling the journey of my friends and I in DayZ through a blog. I've enabled the ability to ask questions on the blog and I'll be posting narrative-like descriptions of our doings. I know some people (myself included) enjoy reading things like this, so I thought I'd drop the link in case anyone cares. Thanks, and happy hunting. PS. In the future when we play for longer periods at a time I plan to make the posts more narrative and gripping, I just haven't had a chance yet. EDIT*: I'm a moron, forgot the link XD http://dayzdiaries-briand.tumblr.com/

    Australian Squad Wanted!

Myself and another rifleman will be online in about an hour, we're kinda east of Stary. If we manage to find some blood packs and get healed I'll swap sever info with you and we might meet up.

    Australian Squad Wanted!

Hey we're a group of 3 well armed Aussie players playing on an American server at night, looting up north. PM me here if you get north of Drozhino and we might meet up :)

    Looking for Heartless people

    This.
  6. This is just a story of a victory for the little guys :) not a bragging thread. At the airfield in Balota I had just climbed down the control tower after logging in. I headed around to the hangar closest to loot it before leaving and as I left the bottom of the tower I spotted a plume of red smoke in the distance. I thought that maybe it could have been an accidentally deployed smoke grenade until I looked to my left and spotted a gun barrel poking out from the entrance. As I approached the played I noticed that he was equipped with a M16 and a grenade launcher; he'd set a trap. Knowing better than anyone that well equipped people cannot be trusted, I put two rounds from my G17 into his head. I looted him, taking lots of ammo, a new Czech pack and some food. Sure enough, this guy was in a group of at least 3. They were all watching the grenade and after I looted him I went outside and got lit the fuck up. We managed to escape into the foothills and meet with our friends but it was one of the most amazing experiences I've had in DayZ.

    Servers for Aussie players?

Good news. Using a Seattle server me and four buddies managed to make it from Elektro to an airfield and get some great loot. It was night time but we had an amazing time! Love this game! Thanks for all the advice.
  8. I was just in Elektro when I ran into a barn facing another player. A Winchester and a lot of ammo lay between us and we sprinted in to see who would get it first. I did. I told you I was friendly. I said I'd take you to Cherno to meet with my friends. I saluted you. I thought the jerry can you ran for was a hatchet. I panicked. I'm so sorry, I'm a coward. PS: Thanks for the beans!

    Servers for Aussie players?

Yeah the NZ ones are pretty good but alas, they are mostly full too. Ok well I might try the Seattle servers in an hour or two. Thanks!

    Servers for Aussie players?

But the Seattle ones are pitch black and it's so hard to play, especially since I'm still learning.
  11. I usually try to log on around now to play some DayZ but as you can see all the Australian servers are always filled to capacity and the rest are either in the dead of night or unplayable due to lag/inability to connect. Anyone have suggestions of servers to play on?
  12. So I was playing the other day after having recently respawned just east of Cherno. It was around 11 pm and I had just entered the city and was making my way toward the city centre to try and arm myself before heading in land away from the PVP haven that is Chernogorsk. As I round the corner and spot the statue in the centre of town, I drop to my stomach at the sight of two players armed with assault rifles all ghillied up. Bandits. Unarmed and in desperate need of a way out of the city to my friends waiting in the north, I decided to contact the other players. "Friendly!" I called, stepping out from my hiding spot and saluting. Right away the bandits brought their guns to their shoulders and I just waited to be sent back to the shoreline. "Armed?" one asked. "Nope. Got nothing. I've got allies waiting for me up near Vyshnoye." Suddenly, two zombies came tearing around the corner at me. The bandits downed them quickly and one threw a flare into the centre of town, bathing the square in a sickly red. The other approached me, crouched for a minute and then spoke. "I gave you a weapon. We don't usually do this but we feel like a fight. Run, we'll hold the horde. If we see you again, you better use that pistol." I thanked them both and sprinted away as the sound of gunfire rang out through the streets. About 15 minutes later I noticed one of the bandits had died, and his friend a bare 5 minutes later. I met up with my friends and a few days later we all perished in a Zed swarm while scavenging in Zelenogorsk but I think the chivalry of those bandits in Cherno will always stick with me.
