i fear that if you want military gear you will have to go there, if not you could see NEA, berezino as already suggested, or all those little villages where you could find a vehicle. i personally search for deerstands and if you go in a enough big number of them you can also find good stuff..

What am i to do with my pub hero when SA hits ?
Bludy replied to Hetstaine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
i will just keep living in the bushes.. -
maybe you updated your beta version and you didn't replace the arma2 beta launcher from expansion beta folder to the main arma 2 folder? you could try to update/reinstall dayz/beta manually...or update battleye manually..

zombie apocalypse can be a harsh place, you made a evil thing but i can't judge anyone.

Poll: Which gun is best in which situation?
Bludy replied to Science Jelly's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
ehehe you are right! once i couldn't find a side weapon and i had to fire the m14 in novy sobor..i think they came also from stary... in anycase i see that a lot of folks are stuck with sniper rifles..i see that in this game is a big advantage shooting from far unseen(always, more than in this game...) but i am a bit surprised from who placed the dmr like first choice in every kit, from long range to cqc..dmr for cqc? it works but not better than a winchester. and for cqc i mean you are shooting the guy in the pub from the cornershop/school in elektro. and then unless you play in a group it takes some hour to find a military sniper rifle, or even a cz..and before you find it i'm sure you still have preferences between the ''starting'' weapons..i mean, when you are on the coast and you used your only bandage, what weapon do you prefere to find? -
Poll: Which gun is best in which situation?

my favourite all-arounder is the m14: it works with night vision, shoots like an AR, but has a sniper damage, common ammo, a bit louder than you want, but it is the best for moving around a target or when you meet some hostile unespected or you are setting up an ambush. sniper: for my personal experience i know the power of as50 or m107 and they are easy to shoot, but i always feel uncomfortable with those long barrels sticking out from my bush, i think the m24 dmr are the best for ammo rarity and they are fine to shoot. i found that also the cz was good enough to get the job done, maybe you don't make epic longrange kills but it's good. the svd has an ammo drop too little, like the FNfals. AR: i generally stick around the same type i find first, ak or m serie..i usually prefere the ms because they work all with the same ammo and if you find a l85 or a machinegun you are good to go, and they generally have better optics, the sds are cool but i don't keep the ammo. shotguns: the remington is fucking good, when you are in town there are a lot of people that think you have only a falshlight and then they die. also the benelli (i don't remember the name) with the shells is really good(2000 damage x shell and it carries something like 10 shells) starter: the winchester is maybe the best, it works fine also in the north, because is not too loud and the clip with 15 rounds is really practical. for the shameless pvp, the enfield is the best choice, you aggro all the town(players and zombies) but if you can actually fire it efficiently you can handle groups or military geared players. hatchet: silent but dirty sometimes with players,AND they shoot you like you have an as 50 :-) double barrell: shells all life, if not is useless, but i always feel like jason bourne.. side: the m9 sd is the best if you want to deal only with the infected, but ammo is rare(unless you stick closeto military spots, or you make tours in deer stands.. m1911, my choice, it can put down a crazy-axe-man quickly enough and the ammo is everywhere g17, the flashlight is usefull until you find a nvg and there aren't so many people playing at night.. vehicle hunting: due to the amount of slots parts take, i carry only one weapon, something i can drop if i need to, like an ak/akm, 30 rounds clips and intimidating enough to feel a bit safe. pvp: a sniper and an AR, or l85 and a sniper. m9 sd helping noobs: something they can find relatively quickly on their own, so they don't stab my back to take my weapon... always in backpack: one food, one drink, one bandage, one morphine when i set my tent: one backpack, map, compass, matches, knife, blood, food, morphine, bandages, canteen, random weapons, one pistol, painkillers, some vehicle parts. thank for reading there is no poll... -
the best thing of the others map is changing the general environment, more military, less civilian, or viceversa, it's fun to adapt to the new map, the real need for a map or a compass. they are fun, but chernarus is the most balanced in my opinion

Items inside a backpack inside a tent.
Bludy replied to klesh's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
i didn't know about instadeathswith backpacks, is it a new bug? i know that items inside beckpacks inside tents last only untillthe restartof the server and that's al.. -
Despite it is an airfield, so with military loot, vehicle spawns (chooper, uaz) and the really close krasnostav has a deerstand, a market, high grade industrial building and a couple of barns..it seems to me not dangerous at all. i place my camp in the north and go there often to hunt a cow on the airstrip and loot the market and the control tower. i once stalked a guy and once i had a firefight against a group (they had a close camp with a hoard of vehicles and many tents) and died. all the rest of the time i felt almost like home. it's not far from berezino, where there is a good hospital and a lot of stuff. why anyone goes there? i camped the airstrip many times to see someone coming but nothing happened even it the most crowded server.

amazing,i'm far from home but there are definetly good news! big surprise coming to the forum from a shitty internet point! can't wait to play!

Bludy replied to zombiehacker595's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion

if you can live without that 10% of increased speed and the bulletproof vest(9mm) just avoid that skin.. -
The EASY way to repair a heli
Bludy replied to vukster@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
i tried to fly in arma 2 tutorial and i don't want to do it again in dayz..but i wouldn't stay in a heli that can go down with a makarov round..sure it can be better to have it soon and take some risk than coming back and seeing it is gone.. -
this happened to almost everyone who plays this game..don't worry, i'm sure he died a lot of times before.

-20000 players than yesterday??? -
zig zag up a hill, find a long barn, wait for them to come in, then exit the other way. always enter only buildings with 2 exits when chased unarmed and walk away on the other side..the hatchet is really good in taking them down. you should try, go inside a building, fix the range of the swing with the first guy and then keep swinging

beta is ok? did you replace the files from expansion beta folder in main arma folder? hten did you change the launch settings from properties in steam? have you tried to join from arma2 or with dayzcommander?

log in, fill canteen, drink, fill canteen, kill a cow, cook meat, eat, go back in the bushes, log out. always shooting everyone you can see. in this way you can do it up to 100 days, but this isn't ''playing''. avoinding big towns and military areas doesn't mean you won't meet anyone, maybe they are friendly, who knows? everyone takes his own risks and if you aren't pissed qhen you die you can enjoy this game a lot more.

this is HOW spread your opinion in a proper way

the guides are good, one of these tutorials has also the formula you want i think. I use the map, one little square is 100m so you set your firing range based on reference points in your vision and on the map. this is good when you are camping a spot, a bit worse if you find someone on the way and he's on the move, but can be done..maybe also better than making divisions per 1.80..anyway if you are under pressure you can also place waypoints or play on regular.
-
when i'm geared, my sessions become shorter and i just make some looting sessions in towns, or search for something in particular (tent, vehicles), do some hunting, go for antibiotics, camp somewhere to spot players...easy stuff. unless you play in groups when you can go to have fun in the military areas..

ehehhe i'm not exactly a noob, but this is a good topic, i like how you write. i agree with you about the enfield and winchester, they are easy to find and with a bit more caution and patience than an automatic assault rifle ,you can do easily the job. i add a pro tip advice that i got from many hours online. it's about looting: don't underestimate low level buildings, with particular attention to the civilians: in fact in high density of players areas, you can also find that every spot has been already looted. in this case, move to all those black houses, shacks, toilets, cabinets that are around the big towns. nobody goes there, because they are dangerous (one entrace, a lot of zombies around) and, as said, low tier, which means that they have less lootspawns, but considering that the rarest items (ghillie, camo, tent) have a difference in the loot tables of about 0.10% between a cornershop and a shack, you have almost the same possibility to find something good, and if you, with the due attention, search for every spot, a small number of buildings in the borders of cherno can be compared to the church. the same thing is for the other kinds of buildings, think to stary and a barrack in NWA: without considering those items that spawn only in the barracks, the military tents(15 with 2 spots each) in stary are more than 2 barracks(12 spots each)

you get a ''penalty'' to your humanity level and if you kill players with high humanity you'l turn soon into a bandit, with the dedicated skin and everybody shooting you on sight. and you'll deal with backpack's weird bugs. having the zombie kills increasing your humanity will turn a lot of players into heroes with the advantages it keeps, and getting the hero skin should be and is quite difficult..
