So most people will probably guess what i am about to suggest. This has probably been suggested before(i tried searching for keywords, but no luck) or has been confirmed/denied by Rocket. Apologies if it has. We need more ways to recover lost blood. Especially for players who play alone. According to the wiki, tinned food recovers 200 blood, whilst cooked meat recovers 800. Compared to blood bags completely recovering your blood to full. This seems very unbalanced. Why are solo players given so little options for healing? Cooked meat is fine, but when you realise that you need 10 meat to recover 8k blood, thats a LOT of space to use up just for healing items, compared to 1 space for a blood bag(12k blood). backpack space is very important, as you all know. My suggestion is to add better solo healing support. For example... Medkit - Rare spawn in medical boxes/military piles. Heals 4k blood. Only useable when not bleeding/shaking/legs broken(for balance, so it cannot be used in combat). Medical station - A unit fixed to a building, like a hospital. Heals you to full, but has a long animation, leaving you vulnerable. The value of it, along with the fixed position would auto-balance, i think. A syringe..thingy - Not sure what they could be called. But it basically clots your blood, stopping bleeding, and grants some blood regen. Rarer than bandages. This is probably too unrealistic. That is all i got. This is mainly for people to throw ideas around, and raise awareness that we do(or dont) want changes to healing items for solo players. Please go ahead and add your own suggestions/thoughts. Not all of us play with other people all the time. Recovering blood solo is very harsh, but it also shouldnt be an easy task.

Seems abit much for something found in the supermarket, compared to hunting = 800 blood. Maybe if it healed less.

To each their own. The whole point of this topic is to discuss the pro/cons of this stuff. If yall do have any suggestions, feel free to throw them out. Be they buffs or nerfs.

I can agree with that. I certainly dont want hunting to be removed. It is a very interesting feature. Farming medkits would also have risk, hospitals would be higher value targets for players in general, and military spawns are already risky.

So you would rather carry 15 cooked meat rather than 3-4 medkits?

Lets take a look... Assuming you have the highest level backpack, that gives you 12 normal slots + 24 backpack slots. Thats 36 total. Assume the 12 normal slots are full of ammo/flares/heatpack/grenades. You would probably keep some painkillers/morphine on hand too, so one of those each. Thats 12 slots used up. The other 24 slots. Lets say you use two primary weapons. One sniper for long range, and an assault rifle for closer combat. One sniper + say 4 mags = 14 slots used. You have 10 left. Do you keep some spare pistol clips on your bag? Bandages? If so, thats more slots. But lets leave them out. No need to waste space, right? We will leave blood bags out too. 10 slots left. You need a water bottle, and some food, as you said. Lets say 2 slots. 8 left. 8 cooked meat = 6400 blood. Thats alot, for sure. But it completely takes up the rest of your inventory. This isnt even including several other items that use these slots, AND assumes you have the highest level backpack. Certainly, cooked meat is a fine way to heal if you take the time to do it. But it is nowhere near as effective as a blood bag. Which takes a single slot, and can heal any amount of blood. Remember guys, i am not suggesting the removal of cooking. Simply suggesting a more space efficient way for those who find these rare kits. For the record. I used the Dayz wiki to guess all this. Apologies if i have messed up my math somewhere. Ill assume ive said something wrong, i usually do.

Im a...noob? Well ok. I am well aware of the fact you need to cook meat. You have very nicely given the the noob(myself) a very detailed guide for the whole process. I was simply shortening my response, assuming you would understand we both know the process. i guess i should be abit more obvious when responding to you. Noted. I am not being argumentative. I stated many posts ago that i didnt want to continue to debate this, as its obvious you will not agree. I have no desire to turn this into an argument. So i shall stop responding to your posts specifically.

Because the medkits would simply be a space saver. 2 medkits vs carrying 10-12 steaks. If you both think cooked meat is too easy, how is a very rare medkit making it easier?

You yourself say finding cooked meat is easy, yet you dont want the devs to make it easy for players to heal? Seems contradictory. How much damage you take depends very much on the situation. Yes there are guns that OHKO, or times when you will take very little damage. But having a more efficient way to heal, that consumes very little space doesnt seem that overpowered. Remember, these medkits would be rare spawns, nowhere near as common as you claim animals to be. Think of it as a sniper being an upgrade of an enfield, a medkit is an upgrade of cooked meat.

Well, according to most, it isnt working. Team play is already infinitely better than playing alone, its just hard to find people who dont shoot on sight. Does this make it ok to handicap solo players who come up against organized teams? I dont think that is fair.

You did not read my opening post very well. Medkits would be unusable whilst bleeding/shaking/broken leg for this very reason. To stop people from using it during a firefight. If you give the other players enough time to go bandage/morphine/take painkillers, then its your own fault. Medkits wouldnt even give you full blood, like blood bags do.

Then we will agree to disagree, Hendrix. I do not feel the solo healing aspects are balanced enough. Doesnt seem like i am going to change your mind either, which is fine.

Look at all those step to get 8 cooked meat. Thats way too much for the amount of blood it gives you. Compared to blood bags... 1. loot a hospital(in which there are 10-20 blood bags usually) 2. Give it to a friend 3. Friend heals you to full within 6 seconds How is that as balanced as cooking meat? Yeah, it isnt. Supermarkets have not even 10 canned food most of the time. At 200 blood each, its barely worth the effort. Zombies carrying food, ok, good luck with that drop rate, and the fact with how laggy they are, you will probably take more damage than you will heal.

8 meat = 10 slots wood pile = 2 slots Thats 12 slots just for 6400 blood + the time required to hunt down a cow, gather the wood and cook the meat. Compared to standing near a teammate and being healed to full in 5-6 seconds.

I also do not know how to fire a 50 caliber sniper, or administer a blood transfusion. But hey, i can do it ingame. Slicing up what content each play can access in order to force teamwork is not the way to go. -

Which is the problem. What if i do not want to play with other people? Ill be unable to fix a car unless i play with other people? doesnt seem fair. People who team up would get an even greater advantage over solo players than they currently have. -

Having a delay before your character disconnects from the server is the idea Rocket seems to like best. But it doesnt seem to work with the alt+f4ing. It is a nice way to deal with the problem though, if he can fix it. -
The limitations on medkits would be for balance. So you cannot quickly hide during a firefight and recover large amounts of blood.

Not sure if its possible, but i like the idea. Anything to stop these cheaters(i suppose its cheating-ish) is a good thing in my eyes. The only problem i can see, is that if the client crashes, would it not be seen as alt+f4ing out of the game? Could be a problem for a few unlucky players. -

You can talk to these people you know. You want to team build? Build a damn team. There are several places you can go to find people to play with. Even ingame you can type/voice chat with other players. The only ridiculous thing is players killing other new, unarmed players. Which i do not agree with. -

The problem with rewarding team play, is that solo players get shafted. Not everyone wants to play their games with others. You cannot group with people 100% of the time. Multiplayer does not inherently mean "play as a group". -

Such is the natural order of a sandbox zombie survival game. Limiting the players ability to play the game seems like a not-so-good direction. Giving players the ability to discern survivor from bandit is a faster, safer way seems to be a much better way to deal with the "problem". I still fail to see the problem. I love the fact people can play the way they want. -

Unlocking the ability to use higher level guns seems too...arcade-ish. It wouldnt even help stop PvP that much. All you would have in the end, is teams on bandits with high level stuff killing all the solo players who cannot get any decent guns. I am fine with encouraging team play, but not if it also punishes solo players.
