DayZ Bliss Hive servers by JamesDeanGames
james_manring posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Hello Everyone! My name is James. I have been hosting a private server for a couple of months now. Please take a minute to look at what I am offering and to stop by. Hackers and script kiddies are not welcome here. If you do decide to play here, do it fairly. I would much rather have a good time playing with or fighting you than to spend all of my time being an admin and banning you. Hey guys, I updated the post to reflect the current maps I am hosting and the Teamspeak3 server. Thanks for playing! -
The Hive - We Want Support, Not Permission
james_manring replied to guidez's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So you want to spawn outside of your base or perhaps even several hundred meters away if there are enough structures around? I can see this becoming a problem in itself. This might work better if you changed it from "player placed structure" to be just "player". To be honest it is a lot of code just to minorly inconvenience a server hopper. I prefer to stop them completely. -

Amen, brother! If Rocket appreciates it so much, he could show it by supplying access to development material to Ayan4m1 at https://github.com/ayan4m1I am quite convinced that he will receive plenty of coded thanks in return :D -

You are trying to flame. If you see an admin abuse don't use their server. If you don't want to abuse, be an admin like me and don't abuse it! I don't cheat. I have never rolled back for anything but hackers. Your arguments rely very heavily upon your own cynicism! Customization is a bad thing? I don't think you have a clue what he is talking about. Most of the customization done by private servers is bug fixes that public DayZ has not bothered to even attempt to fix in the last 3 months! I think perhaps you need to start your own server, set it up, and deal with a public before you come here and run your fingers! -
I think you all need to learn to read and the difference between a complaint and a suggestion. The complaint is that this is in the wrong section of the forum for a video like this. The suggestion is to shoot zombies in the head so they don't get within 2 meters of you and are not able to continue to glitch through doors. I could not care too much less if you die, but if you are going to make videos showing off, perhaps you should actually try to show off! P.S. I would really like to see your videos, I just think they would be far better with more displays of skill. Constructive criticism was the intention. It seemed to me like you were trying to demonstrate how things are done.

Could someone upload the Takistan 1.2 files?
james_manring replied to BobDole (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Yeah, you pretty much do need it installed. The Vilayer guys don't want to play nice. It is a SMALL program. Just get it, have it download the files for you, and call it good. You can still launch with a batch file or however else you want to do it. If you are a server host it is a good idea to have it so that you can make sure your server name registers the options properly for players that do use it! I just want someone to take the 1 minute to download. It has the button to click. =\ -
Why moved here? This is more off-topic than private server material. @GFischer Seriously? How many times did you "reload" your magazine only to find a slightly emptied one was put in it? You don't "top off" in this game. Apparently you also don't take your time for head shots even when you have them canned and delivered!

Do you have any clue as to the history of the Lee Enfield? Mx weapons? You mean Mk. as in Mk.(Mark)48? That one could likely be here if US forces had intervened right before the outbreak, but should be removed just the like AS50 should be removed unless there is an actual US military camp on the map. You need to go read before you type here and make a fool of yourself by trying to be a dick to others. The only hurr durr of the day came from you. The only problems I have with the Lee Enfield are the ammo that it is chambered for here. It should be chambered for and using Soviet ammunition, although to be honest there are likely a lot of the imported variety too and that would be confusing. Your Desert Eagle on the other hand would be the rarest weapon in the game and ammo for it would be completely absent, especially being that not even intervening NATO forces would carry it. At least the Lee Enfield has a long history of being used for over a century in conflicts around the world. To be honest I think you just enjoy being a contrarian and hate that someone called you out on being illogical. If you want a Desert Eagle, fine, mod it in, but don't make the rest of us suffer through your Arcade experience. Did you even pay attention to my statement about finding NO ammunition for your gun? The other weapons, which for some reason you cannot understand, would logically have ammunition for them around, especially a rifle that has been around for over a century and is commonly still used as a hunting rifle. Don't get me wrong, I love the Desert Eagle, but it has no place in a Post-Soviet State. There would be no ammunition for it and you would be extremely lucky to find one on the whole map with a single clip in it. There have not even been that many of the gun produced. The likelyhood of a gun showing up on the map should be somewhat proportional to the amount produced and how many of them were in the Soviet Union. Chernarus being a Post-Soviet State was actually part of the USSR, and thus would have actual Soviet hardware, not just Warsaw Pact knockoffs. .357 would still be hard to find in a Post-Soviet State. Not quite as bad, but still not common enough to rely on it. Also, how often do you find the DE chambered for that round instead of the .50AE? It would be nice to have a magnum round if it was logical. Weapons that could be added right now are a great suggestion. Aren't there any mods where the guns could be borrowed from? I'm pretty sure I have seen one or two with these pieces in them. It looks like we'll have DayZ as our own personal playground soon to combine with other mods as Rocket is pretty much abandoning this in lieu of the stand alone. I read that pretty much this mod was going to be given away to the community soon. Some talented folks could put together some of the scripts from a few other modders and make a DayZ+ that had sensible weapons, proper flashlights, and a bit larger of a map.

Lingor Island's Anti-alt+F4 system
james_manring replied to Lightvision (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
This is precisely why I do like it. I want the zombies to eat you when you log out because it will stop all of the cowards that log out to the lobby then back in to avoid being eaten by zombies. Of course that will only work if they make it so zombies no longer despawn when you disconnect. -
Is this a christmas wishlist or what? How does that fit into a post-Soviet state? How are you ever going to find .50AE ammo for it?I want the Stechkin APS, because it already uses the same ammo as the Makarov but is automatic capable and would have the option of attaching a shoulder rest. http://en.wikipedia....ki/Stechkin_APS The TT-33 Tokarev Pistol, uses 7.62x25mm Tokarev rounds. 1.7 million produced. Versions made also by Warsaw Pact nations, China, North Korea, and so on. Still widely used. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TT_pistol The PPSh-41, because 6 million were produced! It also uses 7.62x25mm Tokarev rounds http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PPSh-41

To Joker and Co. on US 2581
james_manring replied to Stormcrowe's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The Joker says um.. hi and thanks I guess. He is a personal friend. DayZ forum sign up is absolute crap so he can't get a log in name and asked me to say something. They won't send him verification emails. -
ahhh.... but plate and mail would be an excellent idea. I personally wouldn't mind finding some darker plate armor and some chain mail as well as a sword or spear. It doesn't have to have a fantasy feel. If you make it seem realistic you would find it actually fits with quieter take downs and survival without being bitten. There could be an inhabited castle that has some on display by a wealthy tennant or a museum added to a new map.

http://www.jerrycan.com/products/c/lifesaver/p/lifesaver-jerry-can-20000.aspx I would like to see Water Jerry Cans like this implemented. They would not be used for storage of fuel so there is no worry there. The can should be able to attach to a vehicle and players should be able to refill their Water Bottles from it by going up to the vehicle and using the mouse scroll wheel.
-
The inventor talks at TED He talks about SHTF scenarios. It is worth looking at. Consider what zombie infected water would do to you. Suggestion to DEVs: Without capable filtering, some water sources should automatically make someone sick and give dysentery. Suggestion to DEVs: Add dysentery as a sickness symptom above and beyond coughing. :D

What? Care to give any supporting statements or facts here? How many carbohydrates are in water? To be honest the whole post seemed kind of dickish, but I wanted to attempt to ask you a totally easy question and get a fair answer back from you this time.Anyways, check out this site guys: http://www.lifesaver...ry-can-features You should be punished for your play style by dying of thirst or praying for a water bottle or sodas at the hands of a cruel and unforgiving game engine. In a real SHTF scenario the sodas would not be so plentiful after a short amount of time. To add any kind of end game dimension to DayZ a lot of people have come here to make suggestions. My suggestion is to make a resource that is truly valuable in this scenario behave accordingly. Right now someone that doesn't know much about survival can play this game without making a plan or a line from points and deviating from that to get supplies. If you can survive by stumbling around and living off of vending machine food this feels like an arcade game and not a simulator where the player must value anything.
-
Hence why a Water Jerry Can mountable with a slot on vehicles is a good idea. You can't find water so often in so many places. It doesn't require a lot of coding to use them, unlike the complex situation you are suggesting. You could leave water bottles the same and refill them 50 times from a Jerry Can. Refill the Jerry once every few days depending on your group size. Infantry trained people and survivalists understand that you do need to take much more water with you if possible especially in hot places for safety. They also understand using Jerry Cans for this purpose. This method would be much more common in an actual SHTF scenario. Future: This could be used by the DEVs as a trading currency in a way. Fuel, Water, and Meat should end up having some value to the greater good in some way or need to be items used in cooperative interest. Jerry Cans of Water could be used to fill a Radiator that is damaged on a car if you wanted to add a new item to vehicles for repair reasons. Water could be needed to clean wounds so they can be bandaged or repaired, such as certain broken bone or pain situations (would require an indicator that you require medical treatment from a nurse). There are a lot of uses for larger amounts of clean water. Also, check out this video of the lifesaver being used It requires pumping for a while and that makes noise. That leaves you vulnerable and takes time. You have a long filling animation I would suppose.

Don't Bother Buying 2nd Copy of Arma 2
james_manring replied to flerndip's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
As said above, the other player needs his own username for the Operating System and for Steam if you are using a Steam version of the game and sharing the same computer. You will need to install the game for each user only so that the registry will have your CD-Keys entered separately. The Illegal Copies May Degrade message is generic and sent to everyone. A quick search would easily have told you that and saved you a lot of stress. If you have further problems with this, please go to the ARMA 2 forum. This is not the Forum for the game you purchased! It is the forum for a user mod. Something that is free and has nothing to do with solving your 2 user problem. You should be asking for technical support for ARMA 2 from Bohemia Interactive employees. -
Just logged into server - been tele'd across map
james_manring replied to potplanty's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
He said he was logged in 3am AEST - 4/7/12. That would be on the other side of the International Date line, thus the date confusing you. It is in DAY/MONTH/YEAR format. -
It seems to me that it could be. Often I find that zombies don't go down properly and my friend Idan was unable to break glass at the hospital with his hatchet yesterday.

The server you played on where you spawned at the coast constantly was likely an unofficial server that was not connected to the hive. You will sometimes see servers that say things like [NO-CD KEY]. Those are most certainly not connected to the hive, as your character is connected to your CD KEY.
