You need to take a bullet first. Most guns take more than one shot to kill (unless to the head), and yeah, the system isn't perfect. But that's why they give you some leeway.

If you take a shot from someone and then fire back and kill then, it won't count against your humanity. Obviously the system can never be perfect, so that's part of the reason there's a pretty big limit before you turn into a bandit, as well as ways to increase your humanity.

1. have you ever owned a scope? this should be common sense. If you have evidence otherwise (other than reverse engineering--which is extremely difficult and takes an entire professional team), please post it. 2.-3. it should be clear that "everyone" is an exaggeration. the last few weeks there's been a huge influx of players into the game, so the problem isn't as bad as it could be right now. still, it's pretty easy already to see the effects of inflation. About 50% of people I run into on cherno/elektro sniping hills have these items right now. Once new players stop coming into the game in droves, the problem will get even worse, because there's no current way to deal with inflation. 4. you're just side-stepping here. this is not a thread about ghillies or .50 cal, it's about the thermal scope. that said, I disagree that ghilles and the .50 cal are "imbalanced" or whatever you were trying to say....ghillies are pretty easy to spot if you know where to look, and as most people have said, the as50 only really gives you a significant advantage against moving targets. -

the points that have been mentioned: 1. realism - scope would 99% never survive crash 2. duping/hacking - until fixed, everyone has one 3. economy - until they get rid of inflation, everyone will have one 4. gameplay - it takes away skill from having to actually use your eyes/ears to locate people only one of those has anything remotely to do with balance. The game will never be "balanced," but it will/should always reward players with higher skill. Every time a point gets countered that you don't like, you just switch to another one. -

Agree. Thermal takes away 90% of the skill involved with sniping. Unless duping/hacking get fixed (which will likely never happen until standalone), the best fix would just be to remove it from the game. I also agree that in the long term, something needs to be done to "bleed out" items from the game. Right now, unless a body is hidden, items continue to remain and spawn into the game, making the average value of everyone's items go up. The fastest way to get rare items now is to kill other snipers rather than try to find them yourself. Items in this game have an economy, just like any other MMO. Long term, something should be done to deal with inflation, or it will only be so long before everyone has the highest end gear in the game (even if it's legitimately obtained). -

can we please stop talking about realism, and instead just talk about what's good for the game? advantage of no indicators right now is that "risk" factor every time you meet a new person. this risk means that it's extremely to trust anyone that's not in your out-of-game group. advantage of having indicators would be that it makes "friendly" play a little bit easier, while still maintaining a fair amount of risk in approaching people. -

If you're having problems, watch a couple streams/youtube videos of experienced players and you'll see that they're pretty easy to deal with, if you know what you're doing. -

The problem isn't that snipers exist in the game (although their power and accuracy is highly unrealistic, given that the engine is based off of a MILITARY SIMULATOR), but that zombies at this point are just too easy. If zombies could actually, once in a while, pose a threat to experienced players, more than just a irritation, then people might actually feel the need to work together rather than killing each other for fun. Note: I do not want this to be LFD -

I think an updated version of Chenarus would be cool. But even more than that I'd like to see completely NEW maps, designed specifically for DayZ -
most of the fps lag is server side. Try switching servers until you find something that works well. Also check the optimzation guides/threads already in large quantities on here

yeah I got the joker face to work on most servers. When I first changed, though, it spawned me in the debug plains so I had to starve myself to death and then respawn. luckily I made sure to save my gear before switching. Other players can see as well -
