Was working for me until today. Now I have the same issue as you. Deleted beta and battleye. reinstalled battleye and let sixlauncher reinstall beta for me. Still no luck this is the crash report I get.. Same here. This is my bug report.. Well I take it you are from the US? :) The US is the most heavily armed nation on Earth with an average of 90 guns per 100 people. If you were talking about Ireland or the UK it would be a different story. The Uk has around 6 guns per 100 people and Ireland has far less than that. So if the Zombie apocalypse happened over here you'd more than likely be armed with a piece of driftwood if you washed up on the shore and had to fend off zombies :D

Just Ordered a new PC, give me your opinions!

Forget the FX-8150 and go for an i5-2500k setup instead. You'll need to change the mobo too if you decide to go for an i5 over amd. If you can afford it I'd recommend a GTX670 as your gpu and a good SSD. Arma2 likes SSD's :) -
Couple of suggestions to make it less of a deathamtch
maracusarillius_irl posted a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
These things might have been suggested before but this is just some ideas I've had after playing for a while. At present the zombies are more of an annoyance rather than an actual major threat if you play your cards right. It would be better imo if the zombies were as much of a threat as players. As it stands people are quite happy to be way too trigger happy and shoot someone else just for fun, even if the other guy has no weapon and poses no threat. If the zombie aggro radius was tweaked just right(maybe half way between 1.7.1.5 and the current build) and the number of zombies were increased 5x or even 10x(if it didn't completely degrade performance), then I think people would be a lot less likely just to go around shooting their guns off without any real fear of bringing a serious hoard down on themselves. Also random zombie spawns in the woods would tame down camping snipers. If this was a real life situation I think people would pick their fights a lot more than they are doing here. If the other person is not an immediate threat then pass on by. You should only shoot your gun as a last resort in a life/death situation, or else you will end up causing as much trouble for yourself as for them. If you saw someone walking down the street in one of the cities randomly shooting at anyting or anyone that moved, he would be quickly overrun by 100+ zombies. This would soon quieten the trigger happy death matchers and would make the game a lot more stealthy imo. The ability for zombies to run in building wll also help here. If you were actually afraid to aggro a zombie due to bringing down a swarm of them on your position, I think people would pick their battles a little more wisely. Just my impressions anyway :) Loving the game btw!! -
Firearms Should Not Be The Main Instrumentality Of DayZ
maracusarillius_irl replied to hoak's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I agree to this completely!! -
Personally I'd like to see a lot more melee weapons like you suggest but regarding guns and other gear, just a few pistols, couple of shotguns and maybe 1 hunting rifle. No military gear or camo clothing or hvg's or anything like that. That would really intensify the whole situation I think and make it more realistic. Instead of finding military gear at the airbases you might find medical gear, trucks and maybe a gps. If the majority of people were running around with melee weapons and guns in general were a lot harder to find it would change the dynamic for the better imo. Just my 2 cents though :)

maracusarillius_irl replied to maracusarillius_irl's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Yea I think that a lot of the high end military gear should go. Would be more realistic and challenging if only weapons were pistols, shotguns and hunting rifles :) Also depending in where the zombie apocalypse took place, these are probably the only weapons you would find, except at a crash site which should be as rare as hens teeth :) If it happened in Ireland for instance all you might find weapons wise are a few shotguns and maybe a hunting rifle, and you'd be lucky to find them. Maybe at the odd farm or something. Weapons in general should be a lot more rare imo. I don't think military grade snipre rifles and nvg's really fit with the ethos of the game to be honest. -
Don't see how that is stupid? Why ban someone for accidentally looting an item or weapon that they don't know isn't actually supposed to be in the game. The better option as the other guy said is have some script to just delete the illegal item/weapon.

Experimental 1.7.2.1 test patch
maracusarillius_irl replied to Ander (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Didn't think there was a need to manually update the arma beat patch if using six launcher as I thought that updated that as well as updating the mod, as long as you tick the box to do so in teh options? -
Performance on PC's that are good but FPS is bad.
maracusarillius_irl replied to Evito's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Should be no need to disable HT as cores are correctly detected now. The scene you tested, was it in arma2OA or day-z? If it was day-z then you had to log out and restart to change launch options, so there could have been other players in the area when you tried the test again(and more zombies spawned for the new players), which would account for the fps hit you mentioned. Best way to test it is to load up the single player scenario "counterattack", disembark the APC, take shelter behind one of the buildings and look towards the center of Cherno. Then do a few laps of the house and note the minimum fps. Then suspend, change settings and load back in and repeat a few laps of the house. If you can maintain a playable fps on this you should be good to go for day-z, as this is the best real world benchmark you can do to configure your settings. -
Had a few ati cards myself a few years ago, but after switching to nvidia I wouldn't go back. Had plenty of issues over the years with the ati cards and driver support is always lacking. Have a few mates that had ati cards recently and the same shit regarding drivers still happens. When certain games are released you have to wait for a bloody ati fix to play the damn things whereas nvidia tends just to work. Also regarding crossfire and sli, the latter is notedly better in compatibility and smoothness. 2 games running at the same frame rate on a crossfire setup and an sli setup will feel much better on the sli setup as nvidia has spent time to address the microstuttering issue, which ati doesn't seem to have resolved yet. Everyone that I know that has had both are all using nvidia these days, myself included as it is a smoother and hassle free experience. That's just my experience anyway :)

http://www.hardocp.com/article/2012/05/14/geforce_680_670_vs_radeon_7970_7950_gaming_perf/4 :)

Well we are talking about gaming here not encoding :) The OP didn't ask do you think my rig is good for fast encoding :) Taken from HARDOCP review.. "we looked at the out-of-box performance, stock performance of each video card. The new GeForce GTX 670, at the same price as the Radeon HD 7950 was much better performing than the 7950 in every game. We experienced GTX 670 performance up to 30% faster than the Radeon HD 7950, for the same price. When we compared the GTX 670 to the Radeon HD 7970 we found the lower priced (by $50) GTX 670 to perform on par with, or better than, the Radeon HD 7970! The $50 less expensive GTX 670 was delivering the same gameplay experience, and sometimes a better experience, compared to the more expensive Radeon HD 7970! On page 3 we overclocked all four video cards and compared again. Even with the Radeon HD 7950 overclocked the GeForce GTX 670 overclocked was able to perform faster. In the second section, when we overclocked the Radeon HD 7970 the high overclock we achieved with that video card put it in the spot to take the performance lead. Even the GTX 670 overclocked was no matched for the overclocked HD 7970. The overclocked GTX 680 is clearly the competition for it, when you put high levels of overclocking into the mix. So? The Radeon HD 7970 seems to be rather limited at its factory clock speeds. We have seen some HD 7970 cards overclock as high as 1.3GHz. We have all known the 7970 to be an overclocking beast, hence one more reason to look at the cards in this light. In this evaluation, at 1260MHz you can see how much that helped the HD 7970's performance. It was the only thing that gave it an advantage over the GeForce GTX 670. At stock frequencies, the GeForce GTX 670 seems to deliver the same gameplay experience as a Radeon HD 7970. That means for a $50 savings you can get the same performance as HD 7970. But, you won't be able to match the performance of an overclocked HD 7970 as long as that HD 7970 can reach at least 1200+ MHz. If you are not one to overclock, it is clear the GTX 670 is the better value even when compared to AMD's $449 HD 7970. The $399 GTX 670 can deliver a similar experience for less money. When compare the price compatible GeForce GTX 670 to the Radeon HD 7950, the value delta is tremendous; it is simply an embarrassing scenario for the Radeon HD 7950. The GeForce GTX 670 clearly offers much better gaming performance at the same price. At the current prices the Radeon HD 7950 cannot compete in the market." I am running 2 x 670's in SLI and have them overclocked to just under 1300mhz on the core and 6700mhz on the memory and they perform great :) Also if someone decides to go for multi gpu config SLI wins hands down over crossfire any day. Driver issues aside, SLI provides a smoother more fluid experience. Any friends I knew that used to be red have all gone green these days :)

I reckon that board would bottleneck any new card as it's not even pci-ex2.0. Your chip isn't the best either so if you had the money I'd do a new build. Yea but my point was, the 670 isn't that much different price wise but performs better.
-
Never mind the 680, the 670 is 13% faster than the 7970 across the board. Look at the benches :)
-
Dunno how future proof a GeForce GTX 560 SE will be? Certainly not 8 years anyway :D Maybe 1 year for mid-high settings!
-
None of those tweaks are relevant anymore as they have all been patched, except -winxp, which can help performance, and -nosplash which skips intro vids. The only one that would be relevant would be -cpuCount=6 if he had an AMD hex core which he doesn't. Yea the graphics card is very old now so you can't expect much performance. definately disable AA as there is no way you should be running it. Try these settings.. visibility=1000-1600(absolutely no need to set it higher than this for day-z, most servers cap to 1600 anyways.) texture detail=normal-high(mileage may vary) video memory=default anisotropic filtering=high-very high(won't have any performance hit really) antialiasing=Disabled(frees up some much needed fps.) Terrain detail=very low-low(mileage may vary) OBJECT DETAIL=Very low-low(this has the biggest impact on performance. shadows=try disabled-high(can have different impact on different systems) HDR=Normal Post processing=Disabled vsync=Off If you are using six launcher to play day-z , go to options - additional startup parameters and input this.. -nosplash -winxp

Installation help, after 5 days of trying even i am turning into a zombie....
maracusarillius_irl replied to Occulus's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I'm using same as you, arma2 from amazon, OA from steam. I followed this tutorial and had no problems at all. Make sure you go to the arma2.exe and the arma2OA.exe, right click, select properties and under compatibility mode tick the following boxes. Disable visual themes Disable desktop composition Run this program as an administrator This should really be done for all games as it helps to eliminate possible errors by allowing admin rights and it frees up around 300mb of vram by disabling aero. Hope this helps. -

maracusarillius_irl replied to Evito's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
You mean six updater? six launcher doesn't have boxes. I use six launcher because I think it's a more streamlined interface. You can go to {options - additional startup parameters) and enter.. -winxp -cpuCount=6 and that will do the same. I find -winxp helps a lot, but your mileage may vary. Let me know how you get on. -

maracusarillius_irl replied to Evito's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Yea thought as much. I have never seen any difference with these tweaks but I run an Intel quad chip so that would explain it. Do you use.. -cpuCount=<6> or -cpuCount=6 Also are you using -winxp tweak? -
Performance on PC's that are good but FPS is bad.
maracusarillius_irl replied to Evito's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Are you using an AMD chip by any chance? I'd imagine you are due to the tweak -cpuCount=<6> If so I'd say remove all the other startup parameters you listed except -cpuCount=<6> and see if your performance increase remains. If so I reckon that the arma engine just has issues detecting hexcores, as the other tweaks should not do anything as they have all been fixed in patches. If this is the case the only folks that will see any benefit from this wil be AMD users. Interested to see if this is the case, let me know. -

maracusarillius_irl replied to Evito's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
None of these tweaks are necessary anymore. All these issues have been resolved in the latest patches/beta patches. If folks see any difference I reckon it's just a placebo :) The only launch option to add to see a performance increase is -winxp This will change renderer form dx9ex to dx9 This will improve performance slightly, especially for sli users as it will allow use of second card.
