One minute wait til disconnect seems fair without being annoying. Ideally accompanied by a one minute wait before being able to join the same server.

Amazed at people who are supposed to be 18+ coming up with all these reasons not to have their DC fest fucked up. From sick daughters being ignored in favour of dayz (at least until they reach critical condition at which time the guy might exit the game) to shitty Internet connections being blamed for dc in combat. I admit to server hopping, I tried it out for loot but then started to use it to hunt other server hoppers. Far more fun. And I'll be stoked when rocket finally fixes all that Bullshit in dc'ing or alt f4 on death.

Originally alt f4 was disabled in arma2. Anyway to redisable it? Why do you feel server hopping to get loot is more of an issue than disconnecting to avoid death? I am not bitching, just curious. See I like to hunt server hoppers who do it for loot in nw airbase. Easy prey and gave good loot but being morally suspect they tend to altf4 a shot load when shot. So maybe stopping bodies from melting on disconnect woulbe sweet.

I have farmed helis in previous major patch. Trick was to remove unwanted weapons and then wait quite far away for about 15 minutes. The far away bit is because I read it only respawns when players are a minimum distance aeay. I got a bizon where there once was a akm. In recent patch i have had no luck farming but that's probably because I don't need anything the hell can spawn as I have as50, bizon, m14, nvg, range finder etc. Nvg and range finder I took from someone else's very full tent on us338. Tested? Thought that's what we were doing with the alpha? Afaik for a more finished version you're going to have to wait a while for the alpha testing to be done - and that's being done by us. Now.

Right now many SOBs disconnect on being attacked or even killed. Why? Because they can and their is no incentive or punishment involved. So why not give an incentive. Starting loot is arbitrary anyway., determined by Rockets mood and musings, so why not have the chance if keeping one thing when you die. It might be the awesome M249,, m14 or the matches or maybe a pile of wood if you had it in your inventory when you died. If you disconnect or change servers when dying or wounded or even dead you do not get this spawn perk

You as a player are potentially way more dangerous than the zombies. Even if you think you are peaceful you have that capacity. So its natural for others to try and negate the threat. Not being able to communicate at sniper rifle distances doesn't help either as that is the distance cautious players engage from if they can.

You actually can cook twice on a fire pit, the option to cook meat comes up for a second so you need to be fast.. It worked for me last night.

Maybe you want the zombies to make you a cup of tea, hold your hand and perhaps give you occasional words of encouragement while you fumble around looking for a gun? Hard is fun but you need to raise your game not lower the games standards to meet your ineptitude.

How to survive. 1. Crouch or prone on spawn depending on your level of paranoia. I prone then crawl to where I can see my surroundings. 2. Looks clear? Yes then crouch and run away from the ocean. Head north. Avoid contact with everything and keep huge distance from any humanoid living or dead. 3. Avoid big cities. at least until you have a good rifle. 4. Search for barns and deer huts. Loot them all for firearms and then really useful hatchet. 5. Now you are no longer totally helpless. 6. Now you can start raiding towns.

Wait until you loot your own dead body.. Disturbing in a detached way.

I use as50 as loner. carry out a bizon with 2 rounds for zombie work and a m14 for general movement. Alice pack is full of those 2 weapons. I find them essential, the bizon especially. Then i have meat, meds and 2 water bottles. The way I play I rarely see other players and if I do they don't see me. But I often scavenge towns looking for the bigger backpack.

Dig the new patch. Zombies are trickier for sure.. My tactic is shoot the ones close to me or facing in my general direction. I then crouch run behind some building. The check around and repeat. Doable. . My criticism of the zombies is that they are still predictable. Some should have this new eyes ability, And others should be like before and others almost blind and others blind and almost DEAF but deadly silent. plus some % should never despawn but wander randomly because zombie presence is a easy way to see if a town is visited or not Game feel stable, smooth. Lost my camo but no big deal The biggest problem not being dealt with is the... Logging out to avoid death Server hopping for gear or cheap kills. I'd like to see no more army grade weapons or associated ammo spawn for a while but more Lee Enfields and lower tech rifles like m14, sks, etc. Then see the leet gear guys being hunted for their exclusive gear. Oh, and a ghillie blanket would be great. And camo but only with preparation needed.

Well I learned something new today.. Now all I need are friends on dayz that don't shoot on sight.. Actually I will not do this shit but am sure many will.. Better exposed to all though than harboured and exploited by a merciless elite.

No. I think they have been fixed. I put one on this morning, and still have my Alice backpack, bizon and as50. But it's a alpha so you do realise that while this is okay now you still will lose all your gear eventually.

Way off topic this thread has gone.. To continue the meander, 6updater is quite good once you get around its clumsy ui. And most importantly it's the best way to get and update ace2 for arma2, and that is the best realism mod and makes arma2 what it should be. On topic.. I saw no experimental servers with an acceptable ping and I leave among the snakes and spiders in the continent near rockets home cuntry.
