Spawn 1-2 zombies near a player at all times. Would keep him looking around as he runs from city to city.
-
In real life I would be spawning with a handgun, 2 mags, a knife, pepper spray, compass, whistle, flashlight. and lighter as well as with a %50 chance of spawning with an 870 and about 75 shells. Just saying...

Players camping towns for new players
vision1776 replied to John Johnson's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Its the threat of PVP that always keeps me in suspense. When you first spawn you can either risk it and go to a big city for loot or you can head for the hills and look for food and water and deer stands. Some of the combat tactics you will learn in Dayz are the same tactics you might one day have to use in real life. I like to play this game doing things that I would do in real life, for example, before entering a town I search the hills for any enemy snipers and if possible I let one of my friends watch as I enter the town. Or if we dont have snipers then we both enter the town and one player will hide outside the building watching for enemy players while I search the building and vice versa. I try not to shoot on sight unless the player is armed and is coming my way or if I hear a heart beat (bandit signal) when I aim at them. -
You can have groups of zombies patrolling cities, forests, or any area for that matter. The trick is not lagging the server by adding too many. You could also add zombies that respawn near survivors every so often, not many, just one or 2 zombies, that way you are never safe no matter where you go. If you fire a sniper rifle atleast 1 zombie will come towards you.

the reason people shoot on sight is because they dont need each other whatsoever and the risk of the other player shooting you first is always there. thats why you end up shooting them and not worrying about them cause they are of no use to you. what if you could start off with 1 special skill that you choose at the spawning. These skills would allow you to do things that others without the skills cannot do. These skills could be taught to other players by interacting with them thus sharing knowledge. Maybe an action you use on a player and over time of being around them the skill would be learned from being around that other player. Some of these skills could be: Starting a fire (without matches) Gutting and cleaning an animal Mechanics (ability to repair cars and vehicles) Water Purifying (The ability to fill water bottles with water) Melee fighting (the ability to kill zombies with one strike from a melee weapon) Medic (The ability to perform blood transfusions) Sneak (The ability to aggravate zombies less frequently) Anyways. Im not saying that these have to be the skills or that other skills wouldnt be welcome (these are just examples). All I am saying is that it would be a really good reason to promote player interaction when you really need each other to help make things easier for each other. This is just an idea and I dont think its perfect. It's the concept I am trying to promote. Maybe the mechanic to teach a player your skill would be an action you select that enables the teaching and then performing the actual action. For example: If I meet a player and then click on an action on his character called "Teach Fire Starting" it allows the other player to acquire that "Fire Starting" if they are around me when I start a fire.

Skills - A way to promote cooperation
vision1776 replied to vision1776's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
so be it, you can still ID bandits by the heart beat so dont trust them -
Increase pvp difficulty so its actually takes skill.

Get rid of weapon damage as realistic = running and gunning without fear of death. Might as well add new items called "Over Shields" while we are at it. -
It would be sweet to be able to add motion detection around a tent or camping sight that would alert you via Text on screen or whatever to movement near your base or tent giving you time to go and check it out. This could be used in countless ways including posting a couple up on a hill before entering a town that would alert you to snipers posting up or something. Maybe have them run out of batteries after a while and disapear.
-
Military loot. Motion detection isnt that rare in residential areas now a days either.
-
I see what you mean and you make a good point. The reason I think this would be good is because in real life who wouldnt be able to leave a bag somewhere so that they can enter a town and grab new loot. Limiting a player to carry only a few items on his person is very limiting and not realistic. But I do understand your concern of how you can basically skip the newbie session if you die. Then again a bag doesnt really hold that much stuff as like a tent.

Which map would you like to see for dayz?
vision1776 replied to liukang168's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
What I would like to see is DayZ fully functional on Arma 3 on any map. -
Find the grocery stores and you will most likely find matches. The other day I had 3 sets of matches so that I can share with people or trade. Its too bad that players arent fans of trading anymore...

Loot washing up along the shore line
vision1776 replied to FuzzyLogic (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The reason to leave the shore is because it is a wide open area where players can see you easily. Adding some items on the shores would be pretty realistic. We arent talking about high end military weapons or weapons of any kind. But what about random food or soda and car parts? -
Loot washing up along the shore line
vision1776 replied to FuzzyLogic (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Although you make a good point I feel that realism is why I like this idea. It is realistic to find things washed up on the shore. Probably not guns and ammo but crates full of food, empty bottles, water, car parts, etc... -
I was thinking that there should be a new item "Infection Cure" or just use the antibiotic item that already exists in the game. Everytime you get hit by a zombie there is a chance that he bytes you and you become infected in a certain amount of time unless you take the antibiotic. This will make fighting zombies much scarier since now you are afraid of getting their disease and need to carry around some antibiotic just incase someone gets bitten. If you transform into an infected you can either die and your character becomes an infected AI with all your items on it or you can allow the player to control the infected character. Im a fan of both so it doesnt matter to me.

Falling tree's - hatchet - choppin wood.
vision1776 replied to Vincenzo (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I dont think in real life you would have to chop down a whole tree to make a fire place. -
Give Waterpumps random chance to be contaminated
vision1776 replied to Denkkraft's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
If you are going to do this "contamination of water idea" then you should add a new item "Filter" so that you can drink freely from various sources. Logically speaking though in real life you would want to filter any water before drinking and also purifying it via boiling or chemicals. -
I'd love to see stack-able Bolts for the Crossbow.
vision1776 replied to jwurth83's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
What they need to do is add a quiver like backpack item that you wear and then allows you to stack up to a certain amount of bolts in it Say 30-50. It would also be cool if when you are in a forest you can make your own wooden bolts if you have the knife and hatchet on you. -
I agree. I also feel that the military zombies should drop military BDUs that you can wear.
-
you should get the DayZ map and learn how to use it. It becomes really easy to tell where you are going and such by using the clouds, since they always move from west to east.
-
Agree, get rid of thermo sighting altogether. I also think NVGs should be gone but ofcourse thats another subject. I just feel that night games would be fun knowing that no one has an OP NVG or thermo and that for lighting people need to use flashlights, fires, flares, and glowsticks.

attachments are coming in Arma 3 but Arma 2 actually doesnt have. There is a silenced sniper in Arma 2. But in the scenario we are dealing with chances of that gun being anywhere on that peninsula are slim to none

This happened to my friend and I, because people can spawn in wherever they want.
vision1776 replied to Gashed's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I wish they would lock characters to servers, that way you can have multiple characters and server hopping is gone. Also, the disconnecting logout timer would fix the problem where people disconnect to avoid death. It would also be interesting if they test out that when you logout your character pitches a tent or a sleeping bag and goes to sleep on the spot. You can be killed, robbed and eaten when you do this thus providing a more realistic survival mentality of having to find a location to disconnect safely. They could also add a feature taht allows you to enter one of the buildings that are not enterable and logout there as a safe house. I dont know but I think this would be interesting and would be a solution to the disconnecting to avoid death and even people just appearing out of nowhere (ghosting) because you would be able to spot a sleeping player and know that he can spawn there if he logs in. I think that since this is an alpha, something like that should be tried out. -
What should our next competition be?
vision1776 replied to mattlightfoot's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Log!n has the best idea. -
the player skillz idea makes sense. I like that idea alot. Add the skill to start fire without fire starters. Skill to gut and clean animals. Maybe after being around the players for so long the skillz get added to your character since you learned from them. I like that idea alot. What do you mean by auto run? Fishing should be more of an east coast and south coast thing. What are the chances that those ponds would have any fish? The server survivor ranking would be cool as well but not sure if that would be an easy add since Arma doesnt have anything like that to my knowledge. I like the idea of customuzable skins and is something I hope Arma 3 will introduce. Fire works are a cool addition. I dont think such items exist but something like a flare that shoots up when you light the item. I know there are already flares and granade launcher flares but a simple item that you light and creates a flare in the sky would be cool. More bikes and more vehicles in general would be nice. As far as the caves and underground chambers, that could be something they add in arma 3 but Arma 2 doesnt support anything like it. Would be awesome though.
