Are you somebody who uses skype and see's nothing wrong with that too? -
I was just about to post his idea. Could make for interesting scenario's. I like the thought of stalking somebody, then placing their pics in their tent. Or perhaps being able to pin the pics on a notice board. You could post pics with writing. Because of the radio's, you could post radio frequencies with the pics... like maybe try to sell a car or a gun . A Marker pen could become a lootable item so you could write on the picture, like MS paint. Draw penis's or swear words? So what, there's more of that in the average high school anyways EDIT: Basic polaroid camera seems fitting. You could sell pictures of clan members to other clan members. Giving more accurate details and proof of weapons/ vehicles. Perhaps far-fetched but the more idea's the merrier eh?

DayZ Alpha won't launch until launched !

What's this? A person with a 'primate' style user name and a person pointing this it out while being condescending after being offended? Where have I read this before? If I had unprotected sex for every time that happened, I'd have Aids by now. Oh Internet, don't ever change  It wouldn't be a question of patience. It would be damn annoying regardless. I love how their's this image of a Buddhist Monk with total enlightenment, spiritual tranquillity and "Unlimited patience" surrounding people who are saying they don't mind waiting, they should take as long as they want and that they don't care etc etc. It's getting old and their's a slight smell of smugness to it and it's turned into a band wagon of some sort  (just saying it how it is, I don't know any of you and have no desire to offend any of you either, i'm just observant, like to compare things to things and share my insights as you'll see...) I watched a documentary that's touched on previous musings of my own, it's called, "What makes us human". At the end, it mentioned that we have a serious advantage because we're born premature, compared to other animals. Other animals can walk and talk within weeks or days.. while human babies are useless for a few years. This gives us much more time to learn, become aware of our environment and our existence long before we actually interact with it. Essentially becoming the Apex Predator. Animals have more of a gene coded memory than we do, so they know how to walk much sooner than us. It takes just weeks/months to leave a nest (Call of Duty> Every yearly games etc, Takes no time to leave a nest) We have a learning based memory, So we have to learn how to walk, instead of it being coded into our memories. Takes 18 years to leave the nest. (Games that release with Alpha/Beta stages) It really made me think about DayZ and the purpose of an Alpha release (considering DayZ is so superior, just look at how many developers have copied its model). It's catch .22 situation. If you say you want it now, it could be a crap alpha yet it would help to iron out the flaws sooner If you say you want it later, it could be a great alpha yet the flaws would have a delayed repair time. -

Let's remember that there are people testing it as we speak. There have been 100 keys released, right? I'm getting the impression that... If these 100 people did i better job of providing valuable feedback sooner, we'd be getting somewhere, in terms of what an Alpha Release is all about. Get the unborn baby out into the world sooner... so it can become aware of its surroundings and become a better person. If they released 500 keys, they would have proven their intentions.... but they did not. They used a 100 key system so that.. only the privileged may play. A friend of the president, per'say. Alpha Release???? I'm getting the impression that It's not alpha. I've seen Alpha releases before on other games and what dayz is doing is utterly scrappy. -

You guys have completely lost me with all this semantics babble. Perhaps Rockets plan to spin release info onto us that has no real meaning has worked, We're all completely confused and nobody wants to ask out of fear of being pointed out as an infidel. -
I've seen the weapon posturing in the DayZ alpha clips and it's nice to see a civilian use a gun in such a way. But I think It can be improved while adding depth to gameplay. A few Suggestions/ Ideas. Mix and match if you will. (I think After dying, all experience gained based on these idea's should be reset... keep the pain of death alive) After playing for a certain amount of hours (or survived a certain amount of days), you could > Gain Military Posture and stances. After Holding a Rifle/Shotgun/SMG for a certain amount of hours (or survived a certain amount of days), you could > Gain Military Run and stance with held weapon. The stances could gradually become more confident in posture. Say... Stage 1, 2, 3 and 4. Which would translate to, Fresh spawn, Survivor, Veteran Survivor and then Military Grade. It would basically show how loose a player is and how fresh they look which would show long they have been alive. For example: A player running with a tight posture, keeping the gun close to his body would indicate that it's a player who's been alive for a considerable amount of time. Mixed with the idea of adding blood to a players clothes/face, you can build a rough image a person. "He's running with a loose posture and he's covered in blood.. he hasn't been alive for long and he's already killing people... I'd better kill him" or "He's running with a tight posture and he's not covered in blood... He's been alive for a long time and he's barely killed anybody... I'd better kill him" (You get the idea if you interchange both types of player, depending on who's watching the other.) Noticing that it's a player who's been alive for a longer amount of time, could have an interesting effect on the KOS reflex or convince others they'd make a better ally (or trade partner) than a dead body. Considering the bandit/hero/humanity system has been scrapped (Hopefully) and players generally have random skins, it'll be harder to distinguish the difference between fresh player and veteran, and perhaps harder to build character and fondness towards your player character. So after watching your guy sweep through a town with his swift movements and military prowess, you could get used to it.. This would add much more pain and suffering to your death. I get that people might want to keep their civilian posture so why not make an option you can toggle in the main menu somewhere. I understand how the general idea is: You're a civilian, you should run, walk and talk like one. But after spending weeks with a gun and dodging zombies, It's obvious how this would effect your posture and handling of any weapon. [apologies if this is an old idea]

Even if this is true.. why are you so against the idea? why not think outside the box if you can? DayZ is not 100% PVP, such a shield might be good against... Ummm, i dunno, Off the top of my head... ZOMBIES, perhaps? If you get shot at... ~Why not stumble? ~Why not have to drop the shield after rapid fire against you? ~Why not have it protect you from 75% of the bullets damage and then have to repair it with certain tools? (Items are like Vehicles now, they have a damage gauge, a riot shield seems fitting for such a feature, don't you think?) I'd like to modify a riot shield with nails, more scrap metal, all sorts of blades etc. -

Riot shields have nothing to do with COD, relax, you're not in the wrong. It's the other way round, COD implements tools that are used in "real life".. If DayZ uses the same same tools, why should DayZ be related to COD? It's just that we're in a real life scenario and riot shields would be a tool that should not be ignored if you find one (in a police station or scattered amongst Police bodies in cities, towns). (But COD did it! Fuck COD) I swear, The hate towards COD from DayZ fans will only drag down the opportunity to create a realistic and enjoyable game. We're only dragging ourselves down by becoming fan-boys. -

You know what I meant. It's got a point now where I think on back every date given by Rocket and I wonder, "Was he just lying? Who would give out so many dates and not deliver what was predicted... Has every date given out by Rocket been a manipulative lie to achieve a shady goal?". I For one think he lied about the Christmas release in-order to rush WarZ into their own release, which inevitably caused their ruin, as well as it being a flawed game to begin with. I dunno, I'd rather hear him say, "We need to work in server security and infrastructure before we release Alpha and we don't know how long it will take". Rather than, "In the next 2 weeks" Makes you wonder how truthful he really is. I'm not bashing him, I'm the kind of guy who's sceptical about people who are un-criticised and almost worshipped. -

I understand how DayZ Alpha needs all the time it can get, it shouldn't be rushed and we should respect the dev's decisions to increase the work load on the game and postpone it's release in-order to secure its reliability as a working game. But keeping so quiet after failing to reach, yet another half-hearted dead-line is just rude, man. -
Will anyone else play KOS in SA when it comes out?

It's like 1.7.7. update.. ALL OVER AGAIN!! DAMMIT! Who Knows what a zombie is these days? EDIT: in all considerable honesty, if we give them ZERO zombie servers... they'll fuck off and PVP each other like merry men. -
Didn't your English teacher tell you about NOT starting a story with this? :) Liked the 1st, sounds like something from a creepy movie. I started fresh spawn South coast, So fresh in fact.. that I didn't know how to use the hatchet yet! Or the torch! But I had a solid grasp on the game. It was Night.. back when the night was as black as a blind mans day. All I could see were figures, shades... So I creeped around, wondering if these residential buildings near SWAF had loot. Nothing. Wasted Journe... ZOMBIE! ERFH! I Ran through the darkness. Bumping into fences and other zombies... ran through the town south of the Airfield, reached the other side of the road and made some distance. I went prone and crawled 10 metres and listened as I could hear a Zombie screaming from 40 metres away.... Slowly the screams got closer and closer...waiting... The Zombie Stopped DEAD where I went prone and slowly crouch-crawled towards me until we were face to face..I didn't think he'd stop. It was almost pitch black, but I could see his face like it was daylight. seconds pass which felt like hours and I wondered in this time, "What the hell? I shouldn't be out here at night, I can't see shit, maybe i should play during the day or...". And it turns around, heads back to the AF and I start breathing once again. From then on I played night as much as I could, without a torch or hatchet. It turned a silly noob into a tough silly noob.

Posture based on survival success.

~ I think It'd be great to be able to clean yourself with either a water bottle or a rare pack of cleaning towels/scrubs which cleans EVERYTHING. Or take a dip in clean water.. (You're right, killing and gutting a rabbit then being killed by a player who hates bandit or something... or used to have pet rabbits, would suck.) ~ If you shoot somebody, blood gets everywhere, especially inside pockets where items are held now, so at least your hands would be caked in blood. Then putting those items in your pockets would get blood on your clothes. EDIT: Perhaps taking items from the backpack would leave you free from stains. A player might see great loot in the clothes... but taking it would make for interesting choices. ~ I think to combat the KOS reflex anyhow... running with your weapon lowered, should conserve stamina + food + water reserves. Running with it raised all the time should bear obvious stamina drainage. (tbh, I've never been killed simply cause I was off-guard and my weapon is lowered, I keep it lowered more often cause it looks cool) ~ I agree that bullets should be a more realistic factor considering weight values. -

Doesn't have to be perfection. Anything as simple as keeping the gun close to your body at all times shows that your becoming used to exploring with a gun. Sounds crazy but think of it as a dog on a leash in the same way that your gun takes point and leads the way. Walk a dog for the 1st time, its awkward, unpredictable, the dog goes one way and you're knocked off balance because your muscles aren't accustomed to being pulled in that direction. 1 week later and you're un-phased by the dogs unpredictable movements. 3 weeks later and you're sick of being tugged around still so you decide to take the dog for a walk, instead of the other way round. That's how I imagine it can feel for somebody who's never held a gun before. Every movement is awkward, you're muscles have not had to deal with this object on a daily basis. Eventually you hate it then fight back and say.. "ok, this is how it's going to happen". Perhaps it could be gradual. Seems like something anybody would learn over time. The more shots you fire... The more you lean forward. The longer that you're running with a gun... The closer you hold it to your body and tuck your arms in > hold it like you mean it. Gotta think creatively too :P This isn't just a casual firing range experience. Where your only objective is to have fun, hit a target and pay money to be taught by a tutor. When pushed to the brink of death and faced with a harsh survival challenge, the brain learns faster, more creatively and everything becomes critical. You could go from a floppy civilian with a boom-stick to a hardened marksman in a matter of weeks and no amount of paid for training in a casual life could do that. Essentially, what's keeping you alive is that gun, after realising that you're going to hold onto it like a life-line, a lady, a magic wand and a ravenous dog. -

Posture based on survival success.
green_machine replied to green_machine's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
It's something rocket talked about. If you loot a dead body, you could get blood on you, your hands clothes, whatever. Whether or not you killed that player is irrelevant. If a player has blood on them.. there's any chance that they killed a person and if you want to survive by avoiding bandits or want to hunt murderous players then you can't afford to take that chance and confront that player with friendly chat or afford to loot bodies incase people think you're a murderous player. If you don't want blood on you.. stay away from dead bodies. There's no pre-determined set of rules or standards, which is the impression I get from DayZ SA. The only rules or standards that exist are exactly what rules you create and what signals you interpret from the game. Like players covered in blood for example, could mean anything but there's a sinister atmosphere surrounding this image, isn't there? Consider it additional content. I might have touched on a subject he missed. edit: Link please? I'd might as-well post any additional idea's there. -

Derailing what thread? like i said, it's hardly a thread worthy of anything. It's flawed, it's just some guy looking for points. You sicken me, I reported the thread, that is more than a PM and i stated my thoughts perfectly. If a PM won't do shit then what will a legit report do? Or PM? lets face it... even if i PM'd you, we'd be in the same position. -

Wrong Wrong Wrong. Derp. You change the fact that other player cannot hear what you are saying in direct chat. You can shout out and talk all you want while other players cannot hear you. If you heard another player.. he's talking to his friend... You talk to your friend on TS as much as you want and you can get as close as you want to the other players... LAZY. Pure Lazy Gamer. You want it all, You Want it now. You want it the easiest way possible. -
