Hi Joeho. Are you totally new? I found this sort of advice helpful, I hope you do too - check out the threads where people are looking to meet up and teamspeak/steamchat/skype about meeting on a server. If you're already passed that part, my apologies. :)

I have nothing and can't use a flashlight but I love crawling and creepy and running fast through forests and fields, and trying to find gun I can't load let alone fire! Do you have skype? Rybo, just read these threads from the last four days. I've seen people offering them for swap because they're female and female's can't wear them. :)

I confess, I did skim but all my threads are long. So I paid attention. :) Welcome fellow noob. Been studying youtube for a month and playing for a week. Dead, dead and dead again, no weapons, bleeding, dying of thirst, find some matches, want to cry with joy and get eaten, dead again. I LOVE IT and I'm glad you do too. :D

I've only been studying dayz for a month and playing for a week. There's no way I'd go north. I hate going into Cherno and go round it when I can. The problems with the big groups taking the north is the smaller groups and solos hang around elektro and cherno. Spawning's scarey but you got to grit your teeth and do it. I feel for you. If I had a gun (and had somehow learned to shoot it) I would use it to defend myself but I meant what I said, when I joined this game, I'm not here to kill anyone who isn't dead already. :)

What's very apparent from this thread is that dayz provides an incredibly broad spectrum of experiences. I've only ever had weapons because found a - yes, it's awful - Lee Enfield, or because someone like Stiffy gave me his weapon when he got deaded by the dead. I'd never been near an automatic rifle before. It felt like the Holy Grail, to treated with respect and awe. So some people have been lucky enough to get weapons easily and others not. This is your lot. I feel for those of you who are struggling, I am too. It's a bitch not being able to look at a compass when you find one because k just isn't doing anything and when you ask for help in the forums, idiots with jam for brains say "read the manual, it's K" like you haven't been reading every manual you can find, watching every dayz youtube vid and pressing every key on your keyboard. *sighs* This is the noobies forum. Where noobies come for help. Unhelpful, insulting remarks don't make the noobies look bad. They make the fool who typed them look bad. Also, noobies, you just have to get back up and start again, over and over. Anyone, please feel free to message me and add me on skype at sulalee01. Deviant, I don't have a manual. I have read dayz wiki and it isn't in there. Perhaps English isn't your first language as you seem to answering questions I haven't asked. I know all about K and L and all those lovely letters already. However, and here's the strange thing. NOTHING HAPPENS! I think that means something is wrong, do you see, dear? Also, Deviant, you do seem to have got yourself lost, dear. This is the nooby forum. If you find you're just not up to being helpful to noobies in the noobies forum, where noobies are looking for help on noobie issues, perhaps - and I mean this in a caring and kind way - you should piss off to the regular forums? I was just saying another thread I think noobies should throw them away because they don't. It's just that I don't like not being able to use an item, not understanding. You see it's not lots of buttons that I'm having problems with, as Deviant assumed. It's the activate button. You know, how you have to activate some items for them to work. Well I don't know what I'm supposed to do. I posted a thread recently about this. The wiki manual says about how to use a watch - watches can be helfpul for telling the time. <_< I know but how do you look at it? How do you make it bigger so you can see it? I can do it in arma but not in dayz. Odd :) Hyd, good one! :lol:

YNZstalker, yes definitely. No one has ever replied to me when I typed or spoke on a server. Maybe some are embarrassed and others just lying low. Also, I've never heard anyone speak on a server unless I went into the server with them. No one trusts anyone and when I speak to people, and there is no response, I assume they will all kill me given the chance. It means you have to make your friends in the forums and go in together. It's hard to make friends with people in the game. Also, I play a mix of quite and busy servers for different things. If I'm going to loot in the city, low player numbers is best, otherwise higher is fine.

Haha! I had a box of matches today. For half an hour, they were all mine. I felt such happiness for that brief time. Yes, could you get me some beans, sardines, water bottle, 2 pepsi or coke, a compass, a hunting knife and hatchet, matches, wood, morphine, and 3 cows. :D

Have some beans, you poor thing. I can't make my avatar salute or do the dance. Hell, I can't even make my flashlight work. But I don't want to shoot or murder anyone. I'm quite happy as I am. It would be nice if baddies wore a different colour outfit or something so we could keep away. I'm just saying, not suggesting it actually be done. :)

You poor thing! Slooshie is right, dayz doesn't care. It's a lesson learned quickly though. You just have to grit yourself and get right back up again. Best of luck. It sounds like you're doing really well. I spend most of my time being chased by zombies or lying dead wondering what happened. :thumbsup:

What Gogster said. No, Hysterics it isn't a shooter game. It's a survival game. Some people never get a weapon. They don't want one.

This guy has the patience of a saint. He managed to find me though I had no map, and then take me on a tour of some of the major tourist spots of Chernarus, while all the time shooting zombies! He didn't lose it when I kept stepping in the way, blocking doorways, panicking and shouting "Sorry? What did you say? Ooh look there's another one. Am I bleeding?" and passing out. He didn't lose it when I shot him or when it took fifteen minutes for me to take morphine from my pack. I want to say a big thanks to you, Stiffy. Also, thanks for being so understanding when I shot you. I need to work on my aim, don't I? Also, we had such a shock. Stiffy had just shot maybe twenty zombies and I was busy being useless and asking, "should I stay still?" when I saw another body lunge into the room. As I looked up, Stiffy turned and shot. And suddenly we were both staring not at another zombie but another survivor. He had a back pack, I assumed he would have killed us but Stiffy said no, the survivor was new and didn't have much. I felt very sad. I felt sad for the player who had come in at such a bad time and died because we bad luck, and I felt sad for Stiffy. It was his first murder/kill. He was pragmatic but I felt guilty because he was keeping me safe. I'm very grateful for all his help and protection and for what I have learned. I hadn't expected to feel so strongly about a virtual death. I recommend any newbie who gets a chance to spend time with Stiffy in Dayz, take it. Thanks Stiffy.

Whose? I'm a woman! *slap* And I did it! I went in on my own, ran into town, zombie train following me like a flesh eating conga dance, raced around the supermarket and the fire station. Lost all my ammo, almost bled to death but god it was brillliant! :D

Oh dear god that sounds complicated! I tried joining a group last night but I couldn't get on the server. But we only just had an update from arma 2 and from dayz, and I was playing yesterday no problem. So why couldn't I get into some servers that said I needed a different version? I had to give up in the end and someone else on the same skype conversation had the same problem. I don't get why we have to go in and delete files, though? Can anyone help explain it in simple, plain English for me please? :)

What happened? How did it go? I can't believe no one posted any comments on whether it was ok! Boys! *tuts* :P Come on, tell us was it any help? Or did it feel a bit better in a group, sharing the danger? :thumbsup:

I've no idea about these things. I hope you can still play. It's a great game. :)

The truth is, I would probably die from natural causes. I'd be to afraid to hunt for food or water and even if I had a gun I'd be too afraid to use it. And when I finally did try to find food or medicine I'd get scratched and infected. I know this because I'm lying under a bush, with a gun so noisy that I'm afraid to use it, no water, no food and low on blood. So I'm reading the forums, instead of going in there are facing my death. Now others would be legging up the main street to nearest grocery store, and others would heading for the hills. What about you? What did you do during your first week of DayZ?

Hayz, yeah those mutant archer-goats can be a real bitch! :D Drake, that is so annoying, isn't it? I had that happen too. Join one of the other people looking for someone to play with. That will help. :)
