  1. Some of us are friendly, though most are cautious with players they don't know. If you get to know a few players you might find it easier to develop a sense of trust but it's tricky. If you ever see me on a server, which is unlikely at the moment as my pc is broken until the end of the month, you can ask me for help. I never kill other players and play as a medic.

    Hi! New and Shit

Hi Ghengis, welcome to dayz. Shame about the title of your thread, sounds like yet another moaning thread but it's actually an interesting one. Looks like the guys are helping with advice. Any more questions just ask, you'll find most of our members are experienced players and helpful. :beans:

    Geting to a specific location.

My advice would be head back towards trees and hope to find food/water before you die. In future always keep the water on your right and you'll reach the North. Also, try to keep an eye out for water. If you see it on your left then you're heading south.

    DayZ Mod 1.8.2

Thanks for all YOUR work, Razor. With my pc broken, I've sat down and read every single line of the above posts. It almost felt like I was playing, I guess. :(

    Sniping is a cowards technique?

It might be the wrong century for you Briljin but not for me. I live life honorably and I play honorably, rarely with any problem. Goodnight!

    How to survive?

Except you can always trust me. If you ever see me in a game you can ask for help. It won't happen soon as my pc is currently broken. *sighs wearily* but I don't kill players. Been players for around two and half years now and haven't killed anyone in that time. I do kill AI and zombies but not players. I'm always happy to help other players.

I'm a hero in dayz SA! Ask me anything!

I forgot that an a and a bracket turn into a sunglass smiley. Interesting. How are you doing as a hero? Do you find many friendly players?

    I miss the public hive

I feel for you. I don't have any answers, don't really no what's happening but I do know that dayz mod is still a huge part of my world but I can't play right now because my pc is broken. I love the mod's straightforward simplicity. Get an axe and kill the infected. Bliss. I can't imagine not being able to run up the beach and kill the infected with my faithful old axey..

    Sniping is a cowards technique?

I recall one time some friends and I opened a new server and we were welcoming everyone in on the first night. I got shot in the head and so did many others because one new member had raced to the fire station and was hiding under the stairs killing anyone who entered. I couldn't understand that but I think he must have enjoyed it or wouldn't have done it. People are strange.

Even medics get no chance :|

I used to be a medic. It's exhausting and the only reward is when you've helped someone before you get shot in the head. Just have to do what you feel you must before you die. It's a tough life. I even had patients shoot me after I saved them, even though I had no weapons and no gear other than medical. It's the futility that gets to you in the end. But you can't let it get to you, you just have to get back up and start again.

    Char' restart & campers....

If we had a real apocalypse I suspect we'd break into groups, initially with whomever was close by but eventually into types who get along. We'd put up with certain things like violent people to defend the group, louder opinionated types who would fight to lead, maternal types who'd help with food and nursing and so on. Like real life, we'd still be part of groups with people we like and dislike. It would just be smaller groups and our priorities would be pretty much: eat, drink, sleep, stay alive. Interesting conversation.

    Sniping is a cowards technique?

No, it isn't just you. There's not much skill or honor in lying in hiding on a hill and picking off unarmed bambis, for example. But then again, who said life was fair? The unskilled dishonorable are as free as the rest of us to play dayz.

Shrub Rocketeer, your English is beautiful. I love it. You get your meaning across with fun and wit.

    Friendly faces

That's a shame, krownthorn. We do play differently when we understand that the rules are different to real life but we play different to each other too, with different intentions. I for example, will often point out that I have never killed another player, just zombies and AI. Though I have a vague feeling I might have killed a couple of bandits one time, long ago, but no, I don't kill players. For me the game is about survival and in my case that doesn't include killing other players, even if they're bandits. But it's a wide open field full of different perspectives and views on what is and isn't the right way to play. I guess that's part of what makes it such a passionate game, how much it involves us and how we feel/our values and beliefs.
  16. Yes, good point. Basically, whichever you play, you can't lose in my view.
  17. Each to his own. Play which ever you like and decide for yourself. Don't judge by other's opinions, find your own. That's my advice. I like both though the mod is my favourite. Others prefer the more complex nature of the standalone. I think they both have strengths and weaknesses.

As a hero, which towns do find best for a) helping people, b) surviving while avoiding bandits?

    Adding dynamism to gunfights

Any further posts made in this thread had better be civil. I am not wasting more time treating you like adults if you're going to act like kids. I will simply ban anyone I see doing more acts of childishness such as swearing. Just keep the conversation civil and if you can't do that then don't post.

Sorry, I'd help but I'm on my lappy as PC broken and I don't have access. Good luck though.
