  1. He's probably long dead. Mr Fuchs has likely shot him in the head for posting in the wrong forum, and shipped his body to the colonies! Me? Pissed off for being wrongly given a warning and 2 day ban for advertising a clan I don't have and didn't advertise? Me? Noooo. Warning still on my record? Is it? Really? Annoying as hell? No, no, it's fine. I'm not angry, bitter or resentful. <_<
  2. "Our" community? I'm probably not what you'd want either, as I've nothing to sell, not looking to buy and unlike you, I really am a part of this community.
  3. No, no, no, no, no! Of course, there are nasty little crapbags playing this game but there are lots of friendly people too. I'm friendly. Admittedly, it can be hard to find me, as I'm a bit of a loner and prefer to avoid people who, as you say, trick you and kill you. BUT we do exist and we are friendly. Don't lose faith in mankind. Just in those nasty buggers.

    Using the axe/hatchet

Don't bother with the crowbar. It takes too many hits to kill a zombie, with it, however, with the axe it's one hit. Be careful though - if you have a rifle you won't be able to take out your axe/hatchet in an emergency. You have to mess about with dropping your rifle first.

I Just Bought The Game !

I don't agree with the above opinion. I don't pvp. I've never even pointed my gun at another player. I still shoot the hell out of zombies. It's up to you how you play. It's true PvP makes you a better at PvP. But it's in no way necessary, let alone inevitable. And good luck with making friends if you keep shooting people dead. :emptycan: I agree with Leadon - get into arma and work those tutorials. Bloody hard some of them - I'm still working through them after 2 months. Worth it though.
  6. Sorry, friend but I couldn't listen to a minute of your bullet-speed speech, let alone 8 minutes! Too much for my ears, sorry. Maybe slow down and take a breath. Must admit, I wouldn't donate to a server unless they were offering me a guarantee of no pvp. Now that's something for which I would paying happily.

So, let me get this straight, there is no fish?

I Just Bought The Game !

Welcome and congrats! Just to say, you do not need dayzcommander to play the game. That is one of the launcher programs people use. You can use the game itself to find servers. However, I have dayzcommander and sixlauncher and dayzcommander is useful because it helps you to update your software quickly and easily.
  9. They're just like fire stations and airfields, sometimes good weapons spawn but mainly it's tin cans or ammo and bandages. Usually somebody got there before you and took the best. I got my m16a2 at a deerstand and my m4a1 cco, and an akm with 3 clips. Other times there's an empty tin can or a bandage. Apparently if you take the empty tin cans and drop them on the grass, there will be another spawn about five minutes later, of something else. But who has time to hang around zombie-infested deer stand to find out? I think there's a wiki page somewhere that tells you the odds of what weapons spawn and how often. Not sure where it is but someone here might know.

    Lee Enfield or Double Barrel?

It's personl preference. Any gun is better than no gun but I confess, I've often carried no gun than pick up an enfield. They're so loud that they bring every zombie on the map to your door. I'll often carry a db when gearing up after a spawn, but the two shots and reload is a pain in the neck. That said, I'm glad to have any gun. Right now I'm carrying an m16a2 and a m1911 but all I can think about is I don't have an axe. I nearly died again from starvation yesterday, after running across the map but not finding a single tin of food anywhere. I had to get to Berezino to find a can of beans! Really, I'd rather carry an axe than a gun. Best for zombie killing, until the develops cripple it, like they did handguns. <_<
  11. Thanks I'd love to but the post above says you don't allow hotmail addresses. How unfair. *sulks*

    Downloading this right now!

This game might drive you over the edge of reason but you will love it. You will dream about it, and duck when a helicopter flies over your house/office, and find yourself appreciate a good bush or wall in real life. I have bad days but oh the good days are wonderful and filled with fun and joy. Got to love dayz. :beans:

New player, always running into snipers.

Archinos, remember "unpredictable behaviour" means body movement, ducking behind walls, zigzagging left, left, right, left, right, straight, duck behind trees and keep moving (for example). It does not mean suddenly stopping to peform mime, or interpretative dance or quacking for no reason. Though maybe the more extreme your unpredictable behaviour, the more likely you are to live, so the dancing might work.
  14. I remember lasting about 40 or 50 mins and the average at the time was about 30 mins. I was so proud!
  15. What a fantastic idea! I'm not new but I can just about shoot a gun. I am a lousy shot, can't seem to keep far enough away from a zombie to shoot it before it knocks me out. I'd definitely be interested in some friendly help!

They have a teamspeak "server" to talk and join dayz servers.Go to that address and you're in (assuming you have team speak). Otherwise for those not using teamspeak but skype, just contact people on the list (see link in earlier post).

Just been in trying to find food and get my blood back from last night. Thank god for the lousy alpha version and it's ridiculous mad spawns. It dropped me right back on the coast of elektro! Where the heck am I going to get NVGs and GPS? Ballota any good for those? Anyone know? Cheers :) Also, I'm a lady, no choice of skins.

Angel, that's a fantastic idea re profile. And only the spotter could wear a ghillie or something like that maybe.

Sounds great. I'm a talker but only when messages need to be sent or are not being heard and then my talking gets louder and ruder. :o Yes, small groups are great but even a small group is only as strong as it's weakest link. As you say, takes time to settle into the right kind of group. With a large group, separating people into smaller ones that work well together could be helpful.

Azrael, you have great listening skills and practical skills. You were listening to what everyone was saying, trying to help and proposing effective solutions. I think my approach shows I'm a bit of a loner too. Ordinarily I just make my way but last night I found it very difficult to hang around the coast waiting for another player who may or may not being coming and wasn't sure where I was. It's the uncertainty that leaves me uncomfortable and concerned. Of course, it's not easy for the other person either, who's trying to find me. I'm used to being responsible for my own mistakes, and I confess, I do seem to be struggling with group dynamics in dayz. I guess if you're someone who can re-gear in an hour, death's not such a problem but if it can take two weeks then death's bit more of a pain. I don't really mind it. When it happens I'm furious but then I think, ok so another chance to run around on the beach and head to a city. One of the issues I think was very obvious last night is it's a new group of people. Communication was chaotic and there seemed to be little sign of people protecting themselves or the group. Looking back it was really very funny that I was telling people off for standing next to the truck and not questioning strangers standing with them and I got shot in the head by the strangers at that very moment! Another lesson learned. :) I think the group needs a leader, either each person on a rotation or key roles should be agreed. (Not me, I'm no leader!) With a big team there needs to be one voice, one agreed message, one focal point. A project, a reason to be in dayz for the main group who are working together - even if it's "head north" or "find a camp" - is helpful too. But our biggest strength and protection is forethought through discussion and agreement in skype or teamspeak or wherever, before going into dayz. It will help people understand their roles - so when you get there you know who is responsible for protecting the truck, who carries the tents and the kind of location to set up. For example, who was watching the truck when it was stolen? Whose job was that? How did someone walk up and take it? How did a guy in a ghillie suit walk up and join us and then kill us near the truck? And why didn't I shoot him when my every instinct told me to? Because I thought he was one of us, hence my question, "who's that standing next to you?". Unfortunately, response was "don't know" and the entire teamspeak server shouted "shoot him in the head" and the gun was then pointed at me! So I blame myself because I should have some how made everyone listen to me but I didn't have the experience or skills to get them to - and that's why I shouted back about not shooting me. So what I'm suggesting is, to play successfully in a larger group, tactics and manoevres should be agreed in advance, and we're new at this. That's why I suggested watching some of devildoggamer's youtube videos. His team move in and take a place with speed and precision. Well worth checking out. Of course, it's still fun, or what's the point! Again, I thought you were extremely kind and helpful. Thank you. :)

This evening was a farce of such magnititude I am buzzing with bewilderment. Not only have I lost everything from NVGs to my lovely coyote backpack, but hackers tried to confuse me to death! I'm used to dying and losing it all but it still hurts briefly before you pick yourself up and start over. But tonight was like no other I have lived through. I have learned some valuable lessons about life and about myself. For example, I have learned that when attacked by zombies, if you find you have a tendancy to turn into the filthiest mouthed, raging, ranting, screaming lunatic, it's best to keep in mind that those you're sharing a teamspeak conversation with will be suffering your potty-mouthed abuse along with the zombies it's aimed at. I have learned too that when standing next to a truck and ask your colleague "who's that standing with you by the truck?", and every other person in teamspeak shouts "shoot him!", it is perhaps a little aggressive to scream back, "Don't you effing dare shoot me! That's ME, man! I meant the guy in the ghillie suit, not me!" Oh and I learned too that Azrael is one of the loveliest, most kind and helpful of players, as is her hubby. Thanks to all the tolerant and helpful people I played with tonight. My apologies for turning into Marvin the Depressed Robot from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy!

REMEMBER, IF YOU'VE ASKED TO BE ADDED TO THE LIST THEN YOU ARE ON IT! SO YOU CAN CONTACT EVERYONE ON THE LIST, HERE OR VIA OTHER MEANS. Here's the list - not added anyone to it as I can't access that website. It won't let me sign in. But if you want on the list, you're on it. http://scribbless.com/lists/list/119425

Thanks but I don't see the need for another forum, I have this one. Again, thanks for the invite but I have no idea how to speak to you and therefore, how to join you on a teamspeak server, or play on a dayz server with you. Perhaps someone could explain for me and for everyone else please?
  25. I came across a server with one player. I said "hi" to him and he left me. Sort of how my love life goes too! But it left me to play on an empty server - which was blissful! :) So I headed for elektro, where me and my zombie crew took a jog round the city. I wanted to stop for some groceries, pick up a compass, a map, maybe a gun or two, you know how it is. But the boys just wanted to grab me. So I had to grab a few basics and keep on moving. I must say, the lads do keep me fit. I managed to visit Stary and the NW airfield today. Got a few nice weapons and lots of clips, so it's been a great day. But why is it so darn hard to find coyote packs? Surely, Rocket could open a chain of backpack stores across Chernarus? Mind you, I must admit, it wasn't entirely problem free. Is anyone else finding that wherever they go, they have to go to each property and leave it then wait five minutes and go back for things to spawn? Every single place I went today there was nothing but empty tins. I had to wait about five minutes for any loot - and it was the same everywhere. So if you want stuff at a heli crash you have to risk your life twice, once to activate the timer and then a second time after you've left the area to wait for the timer to spawn in loot. I know they want to deter server hopping for the sake of loot grabbing but there must be a more practicable way, surely? But all in all a great day. It just meant I left a lot of my blood around the map. How was your last Chernarus trip? :beans:
