Anyone else having problems searching for things? I'm getting nil results no matter what I search on. Been like that for at least 3 days.

I know there is a barracks but I can't find it. Every time I go to the Northeast airfield I search and search but can't find the barracks. Can someone tell me where it is please? It's not with the hangars, and the other couple of buildings on the map in that area are small shed but there was a barracks, wasn't there? I'm sure I've seen it a long time back. :thumbsup:

Thanks for the update. That's what happens when you spend too much time at the northwest airfield. Honestly, I thought there was a separate barracks off on its own someplace. Must be thinking of the one at the far end of the nw airfield. Thanks for your help. :thumbsup:

Still not working for me. I get "nothing found" even if I search on "dayz" ! Hasn't worked for days and days, just gives nil found results. :(

I've got screenshots where every single item is a tent in the store, the church and even the archways. But I have been looking for a tent now for over a month and had no luck at all. I blame the latest release of dayz, as that's when my problems started. I remain convinced that some intern was given control of the dayz development and has made a right arse-up of it. :huh:

Woah, little fella! No need to kill yourself! :) All good advice above. Are you running or walking? 4 hours is a long time to be walking and not come across any towns or buildings or zombies. It is possible that you're running North and have entered The Wilderness, which is off map. There's nothing to be found up there. Do you have a watch? Obviously a compass but would be great because you could head south east and get to the coast where there are lots of towns/buildings/food/water but if you don't a watch can help you roughly work out what direction you're heading. Here's a link to the dayz wiki site with how to use your ingame watch to find North, which means you can then find South, East and West! http://www.dayzwiki.com/wiki/How_to_find_North But look up at the clouds. They ALWAYS travel east, so you can just as easily find the other directions too! I think you should run South East, so you know you're at least heading in the direction of the map. If you end up dying of thirst or food, at least you tried, and you were thinking of suiciding. But this way you have chance. Come back and tell us how you get on. It'd be interesting to know. :thumbsup:

Hi, don't forget you need to keep in mind people can only help you if they know what server you play on - unless you're willing to play on another server where they have a spare car for you to use. In which case, why not join one of the servers that runs with extra vehicles - I know one where I'm always running into them but I'm not really interested in vehicles so I don't bother with them. Edit, I see you did add the server details, well done. I think sticking with one server seems to be quite popular but I've never done it. I'm just glad to find any server that has a low enough ping for me to access it! But as I say, there are servers in the list that have in their title "extra vehicles" and I saw one with "100 vehicles". There isn't a trick. But if you play only one server then remember the admin knows exactly where all vehicles are and when the restarts will be. That means sadly, some of them take the vehicles. Ybm, I'm convinced the last dayz update was messed with by some intern because spawning has become unreliable and unpredictable. From day one, I can sometimes arrive in a town and find nothing but but empty cans and backpacks. However, I'd be interested in knowing how much, if any control server admins have over loot spawning - apart from freqency. You often see "server restarts every 6 hours" or similar messages but I know of servers where the loot simply doesn't respawn and the vehicles either. And in one instance I was told it was because the admin was busy is real life and had no time to restart the server, so no new stuff. I don't know if that's true but it's certainly a concern. I've gone back the following day and the same stuff is still on the ground in the fire station, for example, so no new weapons, for day after day. Does anyone know for a fact if that could be the problem? Second time today I have to say, I agree with Filas. There's a lot of hanging around waiting for respawns rather than actually playing. I find myself wondering if Rocket ever checks these things by spending an hour running the game anymore. It's the only way he'll ever understand what impact these issues have on how we play and what it makes us feel about the game.

I agree with filas, this poor guy had no idea we would react the way we have, or he wouldn't have posted his video. Why don't we ease up on him a little? He's new to the forums and I'm sure we'd appreciate it if someone gave us a break, if we ever made a mistake. And I know I make mistakes, lots of 'em. :thumbsup: Beans to you all! :beans: :)

Dr Wasteland, hahaha, lovely story. Suicidal impulse? :thumbsup: When I was first playing dayz, I had an hysterical fit of panic in front of medic, MikaelM who had just given me a transfusion. So I humiliated myself by yelling and panicking while surrounded by attacking zombies. "Remain calm, and don't run", he told me. Naturally, I immediately ignored his wise advice and tried to run but was surrounded by about ten flesh eaters. At which point I yelled something about not being able to cope and aborted. I still blush, thinking about it. He was so nice and understanding afterward but god, I was embarrased. Been practicing sneaking every day, ever since! :blush: Of course, I've lost my coyote backpack just by clicking on it, same with my gun. Only today I dropped my rifle and recently I offered Angel a weapon and he said, "Do you mean the one on the floor?" I'd dropped my rifle and hadn't noticed. What a clutz! Oh and a couple of nights ago, I spent half an hour running across map to save a friend, and five minutes later we died in a blaze of glory just after I warned him that we had to be careful because I always died in the spot we were coming to. :huh:

Cheer up, mate. Don't let it get you down. We all have good and bady days in dayz. You can't let the bad ones win. Get yourself a couple of cokes, cans of beans, a heat pack (use it when it rains), a rifle and hand gun, a map or compass if you can, and hit all the deer stands - just as good if not better than the nw airfield. Never had much luck finding stuff there but deer stands are great. :thumbsup:

Hi Robbola, you do seem to have stirred up some feelings here today, haven't you! I think the reason is dayz isn't a PvP game, but we do have a lot of young people who are PvPing after hearing of the game's existence. So if you kill other players then you tend to end up, or at least get treated like, a bandit. And once you get that bandit skin everyone will be gunning for you. That is not as much fun as it sounds. Maybe if you posted your vid in the bandit forum you would find a more appreciative audience? Personally, I can't say I liked anything I saw in your video. People were helping you and killed them. That's how to lose friends.

I'm a Londoner too, living on the outskirts of the city. I love the BLISS servers and the vilayer ones are good too. Just try any low ping, low pop servers at first. :thumbsup:

Hi Mudpuppy, just to clarify. On the main gamespy server list you will see some server missions are Dayz and others are Dayz Chernarus. As far as I am aware, all the Dayz ones are part of the official hive. The ones called Dayz Chernarus are different groups of private hives. Private doesn't mean passworded though many of them are. It just means they are part of another hive, not the official main one. Some example of private hives, where you'll have a different character: there's the vilayer hive (you will have the character across all of the vilayer server, the BLISS hive, again the same character across the BLISS servers but it will be different to the character you have on the main hive servers, and different to the character on the vilayer hive servers, and so on for each of the private hives and their shared servers. I hope that makes sense and is helpful. Have fun! :thumbsup:

Grandpa Jimmy, after that last "gerroff my land!" type comment, I think I love you! :beans: Just to clarify, for those who are new to dayz. A private hive is a server that is not part of the main server hive. So when you join a private server you get another character. You can play on both the official servers, and on one or more servers from other hives. (Some private servers are passworded and you have to register and sometimes pay to join them) So, for example, I have my main character and she can play across all the official servers because they are all part of the main hive. But I also have a character who plays on all the vilayer.com servers, as they have a separate hive. I have another on the BLISS hive, who can play on some of their servers, though most seem to be private and passworded, sadly. And so on. I must have half a dozen characters across all the different hives. So that's why, when often find you have a new character. It's not because your main one is dead but because you're on a different hive. Remember you are a different character on different hives, so you can't keep your weapons or other stuff when you go to a server from another hive - but it's still there when you go back. Just remember to keep a note of which server you were playing on. It can get confusing. :) Oh and it also means you get another character if you play Lingor Island, another for Takistan and so on. And of course another for the upcoming new Panthera! :thumbsup:

Welcome to dayz! :) Congratulations on your rapid learning curve, it sounds like you've learned a lot in a short time. :thumbsup: To answer some of your questions: There are plenty of bugs, dayz is an alpha test game. The developers will be releasing a standalone game later this year. I believe they're aiming for it to go on sale in December. If you use a rifle like the Lee Enfield, it is so loud that each time you shoot it every zombie from miles/kilometres away will come running to eat you! Hacking has been a bad problem for dayz but it looks like Battleye (the anti-hacking company) are fighting back to protect us on servers. The hacking is still there but you will often see Battleye messages saying someone has been kicked. That can be because they don't have the right software or because they are hackers, or other reasons. Field bottles (or water bottles) can be filled in the country (and just outside cities like cherno and elektro) at ponds and lakes but they can also be filled in cities and towns at water pumps, which you will find in people's back gardens. Blood - tins of food will give you 200 units of blood back, animal steaks at lot more. I think it's about 800. To hunt you need a weapon (some kind of gun), a hunting knife, a hatchet to get fire wood, a matchbox to light the fire, and space in your inventory or backpack to carry that meat! You can also get a full blood transfusion with a blood bag but only if you can find someone to give you the transfusion. You can't transfuse yourself. :thumbsup: Have fun and feel free to ask as many questions as you like. Sounds great but just to confirm, your main aim is competition, so we're talking PvP? As this is not specifically a PvP game, and many of us survivors don't kill other players, I thought I'd better ask. I don't want to get my head blown off no matter how friendly the bullets are! :D :thumbsup:

Great tale, warp! Sounds like you met a scripterkiddy, sadly. Why don't you join the 30s+ players list? There's no clan or anything, it's just a list of individuals who are mainly in their 40s but there are some in their 50s and 60s too, as well a some in their 30s. They're mainly looking to find people who are similar in age and who want to get a broader experience from dayz than just PvPing. This list is incomplete because I have yet to update it. You can contact any of these people via their preferred contact method and ask them to join you in a game of dayz.
