20? My Arse! Looks like a troll to me, but if you really do need help, take MissSweeney's advice and post a thread in the New Player Discussion forum and specific questions about what it is you want to know. Or go to Dayzwiki and read the information there for a more general summary of what's in the game.

Maybe the readme file that comes with the downloads can summerise it for you. Some of the handguns have been derped, so you need a couple of clips to kill zombies with body shots. The military glitch has been sorted but replaced by the wire glitch, so much of a sameness there. We're all still falling through walls and floors. The debug monitor is not longer on screen as standard and if you add it to your screen it stops your food and water from warning you when you need to eat or drink. Zombies seem to be running from one end of the map to the other following you if you can't find a bush or pine tree to hide under, which happens. Lots of servers are not part of the official hive, so these private hive servers give you another character to play for each hive. Tents are virtually missing from the game. A lot more hackers are being kicked and banned by battleye. Oh and sadly, innocent players like me *is furious* get kicked by private server admins just because they're sometimes kids or then want your vehicles/stuff. A lot more of that happening with the big push by the admin/mods to encourage people to play on private servers. Still on the plus side, there is the fact it keeps out most of the hackers, as I mentioned.

How not to survive in DayZ -- Going Even Farther North
Sula replied to thedeadzone's topic in New Player Discussion
So sorry, Godrex but it's that echo. Too hard to listen to but I wish you all the best with your recording. :beans: -
I still had no idea what was going on after I'd been playing for about 6 weeks and I was desperate for help. So there's always room for a friendly face and a kind word! By the way, I don't think of newbies or bambis as negative words. I think of them as charming and people to help, if they ask. That's the thing, you need only help those who ask for it, not those who don't want it. ;)

You only meet your first game player once - What did he do?
Sula replied to selmack's topic in New Player Discussion
I don't remember the details of my first death but I'm sure it was by zombies, not players. I remember the sense of shock and disgust I felt the first time I realised I'd been sniped by another player. I had to leave the game. I couldn't play, thinking about how someone could be so cold and feckless. I was convinced it must have been someone who had a mental health issue, maybe a sociopath. In fact, I still suspect that every time I get killed by another player! So by my estimates about 90% of the people playing dayz are sociopaths! :o -
Or you could offer to run bambis up to the north west airfield without everyone dying. That would be a very hard challenge. Or how about playing on a public and very busy server? You'll soon die and lose everything. :) By the way, the zombies being gathered around the deer stands is very much intentional. It's to make it harder for you to get to the weapons.

My stuff's disappearing, need help.
Sula replied to liquidsnake's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The End, that's a good idea. Do let us know what happens. This isn't the first time I've heard of this happening. I'd like to get to the bottom of this mystery. :beans: -
Sounds like a very generous idea. Perhaps New Player Discussion would be a good place to raise this idea. :beans:

Dragging myself alone from the Ballota hangars, bleeding from multiple zombie attacks, no weapons, not even an axe, I was trying to sneak out of the air field and found a tent. It was filled to the brim with guns and ammo. I confess, I stole one gun and 2 ammo and a bandage. I felt bad because it's theft but I also knew that I had no more bandages and one more zombie hit would kill me. It's not like I was taking someone's only weapon. Of course, I'm justifying what I did, as do we all in life. Is that right or wrong? Who's to say.

So everyone is just shoot in sight now?
Sula replied to flyjum's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I disagree with Delta Smoke. Initially, the alpha was not about Pvping at all, as I understand what Rocket said. It was only once the Europeans and, particularly Russians, joined the game that the massacre began. Then there were a couple of articles about the game in games magazines and websites and then all hell broke loose. Every kid on the planet wanted to come kill for the sake of killing. But it's been like this since I joined. Just got to grit your teeth and play on private servers or low pop servers. In my ideal dayz there'd be "licences" or places on a server for x number of bandits, x medics, x survivors and so on - to keep the balance. It's perfectly possible using the arma 2 software, like joining Blufor or another team. -
Seriously, yesterday, a chicken blocked my way into the barracks and would not move. I had to vault over it. It was like a brick wall! Them thar chickens is tough guys. :o

It means that you can counteract bullet drop up to 300 metres. When you shoot your gun your bullets tend to drop the further away they fly. So you can take account of the bullet drop. This video explains how.

Sorry, don't know how but ended up pasting reply in wrong thread.

Penny Sue, I've never met a hacker in game and I've been playing for about five months! I have come across a couple of people who told me they were scripter-kids, and I've been transported once but if you play on lower population servers, they tend to stay away because they can't have a big impact. Plus Battleye (the game's anti-hacker software) has really pulled up its socks and is kicking players the second they break a rule. You still "lose" to other players, as you die when they kill you but that's part of the game. I was here yesterday saying how sad I was having been shot in the back. That's what you do, you come here and say oh boy this happened... you let off steam and then you get back in there are have some more fun. It's the best game I've ever played, and I've played hundreds. But it's a challenge as some players find it too hard. Do a search on BLISS servers, they're good fun.

Arma 2 is so much fun. I hope you get dayz to work. I know there's a reason why so many people keep spawning in unconscious but I don't know what it is. I've no idea if the developers are even aware of the problem. If anyone can help here, please do.

Also, they come with the warning that they will seriously destroy your humanity because each pellet you hit/kill with counts towards lowering your humanity.

I've been trying to change my approach to my backpack and see it as a place to carry a second weapon, instead of a bean sack. This can be useful if you find a gun you love but it has hard-to-find ammo. You can then use your regular gun and only use the other when you have ammo. It's a useful approach too for quieter guns, using when you don't want to bring zombie herds running. My approach to weapons changes, and I find that my "favourite" is often the gun I happen to have. I think liking the gun you have makes things easier. The only guns I struggle to appreciate are the Lee Enfield and the crowbar.

I haven't seen a tent in over 30 or 40 days, So it isn't really a question of "easy" or "hard", but one of having the good fortune to come across one!

HFB, Vilayer, and DayZCommander need to knock this crap off..
Sula replied to ersan's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I still don't understand what everyone is on about. So I can't hold a view right now. Someone has edited someone else's map? -
I'm sure your intentions are well meaning but your use of the word dominance immediately causes me concern. What does it mean? Am I not going to be free to come and go as I please? What gives you the right to tell (unarmed) others to leave an area and if they don't to then shoot them? It almost makes me, a passionate pacificst, want to point a gun at you right now! :o

I have a hero skin, which seems odd to me because I don't recall doing that many blood transfusions or helping lots of people. I guess I didn't notice, didn't think of it.

Thanks, Rott but generally, I like working hard for my stuff and achieving it. I had a really sweet offer from a player to give me some NVGs and I'll think about it but I want to get my own, so I will keep on trying. Fraggle, of course, like I said, I died today by zombies before the other guy killed me. But zombies were doing what they have to, and that guy had choices. As do I. I can choose to play this game as it is or move to another game. And I choose to play this game as it is because I love it. It's hard being shot by someone when you work so hard to survive but I know it's part of the game. I still love dayz. But that doesn't mean I have to like being shot in the back. This is where I come to talk about my achievements and failures in dayz. I'm just expressing myself. :) Voodoo, no. I had been watching him. He didn't know I was there until I told him I was friendly, as I left and moved on. He chose to follow me and kill me. That was his choice, and he's entitled to do so. And he's just as free to come make a thread about how he shot some fool in the back until they died. All I'm saying is, today I died because I was shot repeatedly in the back and refused to shoot back. That's my choice. Being shot by another player saddens me. I'm no threat to anyone. So that's part of what my thread's about. I'm not moaning and whining because x shot me. Just sharing my experience today of my dayz trip. Some days the news is great and other days it'll be sad. I'll keep coming back, I love the game. :) :beans: It's all just a matter of perspective, depending on where you're standing. From here it looks like murder, from over there, it's just some fun. That's the thing, there's no real right or wrong.
-
Heh, maybe you're right but I'm not going to lower my code of ethics just to be like them. :)
-
I just posted a thread about being on the end of the bullet coming from trigger happy players. I haven't let the game make me a killer, though god knows it's hard to resist when you keep getting shot in the back. I realise that sometimes it's hard not to just react and shoot but there is never an excuse for hunting down innocent players and killing them for their stuff, which is what happened me today. I'm not suggesting that's what anyone here does, just expressing my frustration and disappointment. Rott, I liked your post. :)

I'm feeling like an update. Right now, if I could have only one weapon, it would have to be the G17 handgun. I can't seem to miss with this thing. Zombies keep dropping and I keep smiling.
