Be careful when arranging swaps/exchanges. I posted here offering to give away my ghillie suit for free, and got ripped off by a couple of hoods. But to be fare on them, they played their roles right to the end. I had no idea I was being ripped off. Even after I died, I felt so guilty that I couldn't give this guy my backpack - because I thought someone else had shot us both and didn't know it was his friend who killed us as part of the scam - I offered to go get him another ghillie suit and he agreed. Then I did a bit of research and saw he was trading it on another thread, so I told him where to stick it, and kept the ghillie for myself. Do not just assume everyone is as honest as you. They're not.

I agree with Dallas, too. And don't run like a crocodile! (Apparently they can only run in straight lines). Zig zag, duck and dive, up and under etc.

This is the point where people like me say, yep, I agree with you, and PvPers starting saying it's impossible to play the game without killing. Ah well, that's life.

I'm putting this here as a cautionary tale. I see so many players who have been tempted to register at hack sites and then find they can't get whitelisted because they can't get through the security checks. No one will let them in so they can't play with their mates who did get through the checks. Imagine the fun they're having and you stuck outside because you're not allowed in and no amount of pleading or whining will help you because we're not your mum or dad. Remember, everything you do has a consequence. It might not be today or tomorrow but the things you do follow you through life. Each day I see so many players applying to be whitelisted to join our servers but they fail at the first hurdle, they fail the security checks. They say but it was a year ago, two years ago. So? Doesn't matter if it was ten years ago. If you've been scripting or hacking then that will follow you and count against you when you want to get whitelisted for a server community. So think twice before you register with a hack site, or download some cheat script and tell yourself no one will ever know - yes, we will. It makes me feel sad telling someone that there is no way they are being whitelisted for our servers because of mistakes they've already made in other games. It doesn't matter if you insist you didn't hack or script, you just registered to learn about stuff. Rules are rules, and we have to protect those members who want to be safe from hackers. Sometimes, I honestly believe what the guy is telling me but frankly, no matter how much I feel for him, forget it - he's never getting whitelisted. My personal feelings are one thing, the rules are another and they are not to be broken. It's that guarantee of safety from hackers that we cannot risk by letting someone in who has a bad reputation or the slightest hint of scripting, hacking or cheating. So spend some time thinking about how it might affect you in the years to come, if you ever think of buying scripts or hacking, or even just registering at hack sites for interest. If you do, then don't apply to be whitelisted because you're not getting in.

Hello, Zera. Welcome to the forums. The dayz mod is an alpha testing project. The final standalone game is due out very soon. It will be available via steam, and you might want to wait for its realease.

Exactly. I've no intention of going into details of what we do do. Jesus, there are days when I feel like walking away from this place when I see a well-intended and useful thread trampled by some of the crud that gets posted. Edit: Right, I'm off to sort out lunch. I could do with the break. Now please, for god's sake don't break the internet while I'm gone! :P

We don't take one single thing in isolation, Rossums. We do a lot of research as part of the security checks. It doesn't matter about sharing email addresses or countries. That's not what we go on. (So register under whatever names you like, you don't have to worry about that. My point was, people who register at hack sites, or buy scripts do so at their own risk. If they apply to be whitelisted they risk been banned)

Hi Waity, welcome to the forums! Are you sure you're game isn't saving? Is it possible that you are joining different servers? If they're a different hive then you will start a new life on each server. :beans:

Skrewy, your posts only show that you're not very intelligent and lack the ability to concentrate. Oh, and that you're a bit of an arse and like to sabotage serious threads. Well done on bringing yourself to the attention of the moderators. Like I said, not very intelligent. Like I also said, actions have consequences. So think before you post again.

I agree with your reasoning and like I said, I only feel sad about having to say no, sometimes. ;)

New player about to step into the game
Sula replied to babydoc (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
Hi, babydoc, welcome to dayz. Yes you can kill zombies with your axe if you like. It's my personal favourite choice. Remember there are lots of public and private servers (dayzcommander is one of the popular ways of accessing servers, I use it and like it a lot). On public servers you have the same character and gear but when you join private servers you start a new character for each group of linked servers (which we call a hive). Not much hacking on the whitelisted servers but yes on the public ones there can be a little. Though Battleye has tackled a lot of that. -
I never kill them. Just crawl in on your belly and take what you want. That usually works for me. Got lots of stuff that way, like a Mk 48 mod 0, bison sd, fn fal and a saw 249, and lots more.

Zaxc it could still have been a bullet. The silenced weapons can be deadly. Though just sometimes a bush or ladder can attack and knock you down. They're quiet but merciless killers.

Starving to death needs to be COMPLETELY overhauled.
Sula replied to JimJam (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
Brave of you to admit your mistake there, Jimjam. Luck's like that, unpredictable. I've give you my beans but apparently, I've reached my limit for the day! :beans: Good point about raw food and unclean water. I tend to agree with you. -
Good to hear! Have fun and let us know how you get on in your adventures.

What i've experianced in Day Z so far
Sula replied to Mr. Charles (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
Hi Mr.Charles. I know how you feel, it can be so frustrating and exasperating to keep being killed. It's true there are lots of people who kill on sight but where do you play? When you join the server are there five or six people on it or 10 or 20 or 30? If you join high population servers then you're an easy target if you don't yet know how to avoid heavy traffic areas like Cherno, Elektro, and the airfields. Try low pop servers and making a friend or a few via these forums first and join a server together. Also, watch people over a few days and see what they say/do. You can often predict who is friendly and who isn't by what they do and don't say. Good luck! :) -
bad version, server rejected connection!?!?!

A very helpful reply there from Mitunzz, thanks. I hope that helps you alec. -
After a Friendly Aussie or World wide server with spawning gear and Friends
Sula replied to nankura's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Oh Steak beat me to it. Balota Buddies has servers based in Australia and just opened a UK server too. I'm one of the admin team for the UK server. Also, if you are looking for private hives then look in the Private Hive Discussion Forum below this forum. It's choca-a-bloc full of private servers who are all looking for new members, as that's where they have to advertise their servers! -
Hi Shazmo, I'm moving your thread to the Private Hive forum. Thanks.

That's one of the things that makes me mad, admins abusing their powers. Now I'm on an admin team for a server, I still feel admins must be objective and fair. There is nothing worse than an admin hogging the best vehicles, taking the best loot and killing people because they killed him. Petty and unacceptable from people who have power and should know better. I remember one admin killing me because he'd run out of ammo and wanted mine. I refused and he killed the whole lot of us for my one magazine. Nasty bully. I agree, find yourself a nice private hive.
-
What I don't understand is what the epi pen is for? And surely you could ditch such useful things as morphine and ammo for a couple more watches! PS, Got anything in a ladies, silver metal strap with a round face?
-
That happens when you play on servers that are linked to the same hive. That could be public official servers, which are part of the public hive. Or it could be a group of private servers that are linked together - called a private hive. There's one official hive but lots of private hives. On dayzcommander private servers have the words Private Hive in their title but they are not all joined together. They have a cloud next to their server name too. You have to try them to see. If you arrive in the same place with the same gear then they're the same hive. I write them down as it's easier to keep track of them that way.

I agree with Drabik. I know nothing about computing or computer games and even I play on the editor with the little I've been taught by people here. Admittedly, I don't do anything with Arrowhead anymore as I have dayz running but I still use the editor on arma2 almost daily.

For me the scope's too powerful. I have to ask zombies and snipers to move back and stand on the next hill, across the field and it isn't often they agree to it. Actually, now I think of it, I think I've ended up dead every single time.

Hi IFoozy. With the standalone coming, I guess they want us to get used to the debug monitor going, as it won't be in the game.
