Yes you are missing something. You appear to have misunderstood. You refer to something called "pre-alpha" but we are already at alpha stage and that remains free. The reference to Minecraft was to its pricing structure and as an indictation of price. In other words, an initial price that is small and then going up in price with time and development. The rough estimate of price Matt gave is for the first release of the stand alone game, not for an alpha or beta test version. So I don't see how you can try to blame Rocket for a "fuck up" when you're the only one making one. If you don't understand just ask questions and we can provide answers. You'll get more positive replies that way.

Thanks! *sings* Dooby dooby doooooo.... That's very kind of you, thank you. You should come see what they make me say at Balota Buddies on teamspeak! I have to say things like "Coming up on our right we can see Elektro..." and "Press 4 for Cherno...." All day long! That's only because I can't get near to you for all the guys ask you to tell them stories! Sing me song, Mr Orlok, please! :D And I just wanted to say, I thought all the mods had great voices. I know that sounds like I cop out but I really did.

Phooey I was amazed at your question. Dayz has always been a survival game and never a PvP with zombies! :o That's why I raised my question during our interview with Matt.

Ah any game is better for more Scottish players! :beans:

British armed forces improved textures?
Sula replied to latiasracer's topic in New Player Discussion
I bought full versions of Arma II and Combined Ops and mine seem to look just as good as those. Or maybe those are the quality if you buy the full versions. I'm happy with what I have. -
*hands you the award* :D :beans:  Speech! Speech! *claps loudly*

Damn that price is so good I want to buy it again! I had no idea there were so many parts available to Arma II. I wonder if people will recall in say ten years time just how great Arma II is and that it was the origins of the world's greatest game, DayZ

Pockets7vens, really? That is amazingly bad luck. When you spawned did you run along the beach or up into the hills? Good luck with youtube, Davidian. Though you're late to the game. There are many thousands already out there!

Which server did this happen on, exactly? Not sure how you can ask how buggy a game is when it hasn't been released yet.

Yep, HerrJon put it well.

Join as many private hive servers as you like! You don't have to just stick with one. Go to the Private Hive Discussion Forum to see them, as that's where the "adverts" go. I'm helping out at balota buddies hive as a moderator temporarily, and as you'd expect I do recommend it but seriously, I recommend all the ones I've tried. Well almost. There was one that had a 16 year old crapbag for an admin, thanks to mummy and daddy's credit card, who killed me for a magazine of ammo but apart from that many of them are great. Check out the comments.

Who are you calling asses? :o *wonders if Ninetyniner meant "assess"*

We're all in the same boat, we all want to play the standalone as soon as possible. Thanks to most of you for being patient and understanding. Like most of you, I've never come across Rocket but I read his posts and understand he and the team are working their backsides off. The truth is I'm happy to wait because I'd rather have a game that works than one that's been rushed out for an impossible deadline. I don't expect any game to be glitch free but honestly, I'd rather not fall through any more roofs. :beans:

Just give it a poke and see what happens.

Tetris. Try Tetris. Frankly, I can't see any way in dayz to avoid zombies for long. *sighs*

Kids.

Yet another one that should be in Private Hive Discussion Forum? Or perhaps I'm wrong. I'll check.

Shouldn't this be in Private Hive Discussion Forum?

What authority does the poll have? Will it actually impact on the game or is this just someone posting a thread?

Looking for a good UK server + friends to play with
Sula replied to Holograph's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Go look in Private Hive Discussion Forum, that's where all the adverts for servers/hives are located. I'm temporarily helping out at Balota Buddies and recommend them. Go here to be whitelisted http://balotabuddies.net/ BUT there are many private hives, all worth joining. I play on probably a 100+. I recommend you visit the forum and join lots of them - better to have a choice than none at all! -
If you play on lots of servers you will find some are useless for tents because other players help themselves and on others they're fine. I often lay down a dummy tent to cause a distraction from my real tent. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I prefer to play lots of servers so as to keep things fresh not get used to kit and players. It all goes in the end.

The empty backpacks are not the supermarket's contents and haven't been dropped by players, usually. If you arrive, especially on an empty server, or a recently restarted one, there will be one of a lot of things in many spawn points until players enter the buildings. Such as tents or tin cans or backpacks. There is also a delay where you have to go a certain distance from the loot spots and then return a few minutes later to get the loot. Of course, other times you will never find a backpack no matter where you look. Frankly, if you find alice packs grab one and never let it go. Also, I think Beastlyoverlord meant the opposite of what he wrote. Play on private servers if you want to avoid hackers. Look in the Private Hive Discussion forum for lists of all the private servers.

What will happen to DayZ MOD servers?
Sula replied to Ratsmon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I thought the official hive was offline. I can't find any servers. -
It is up to you, indeed. However, dayz commander is much more user friendly. I've used both and there's a big difference. Commander will make game updating and access quick and easy in my view.

What is the point of this game now?
Sula replied to LordHussyPants's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No you don't. All you have to do is simply enjoy the game and not worry about who killed whom or who has killed most players. No one needs to "claim" a kill. Not part of the game.
