Schrapple, don't let it drive you crazy. It happens all the time. I had the same thing happen to me just a week or so ago. I had an axe and was helping a fresh spawn by killing his zombie attackers. In the store I dropped some food and drink for him, he picked up a lee enfield and shot me. I tell myself he was probably a ten year old with extra special needs, who no speako da engrisho. It makes me feel better. Good point, Fraggle! Now why can't Rocket sort that one out? :huh:

Whenever I encounter another player the first thing I do is - carry on watching him from a distance and enjoy the entertainment (few people encounter me at close range without me knowing it first). Some of my happiest moments have been spent watching lone players going about their mad little lives, chasing cows and staring at bushes. Some of the most cautious have been watching groups of players, especially when they are still in town under the illusion they're still chasing me. :D

Yes, it is your fault. You shoot players, then you're part of the problem not the solution. I have never killed a single player. I can be trusted. And what the heck has any of that to do with "mechanics"?

For me it's the axe every time. Have to say, I cannot work with that cz550 thing. It zooms in too far for anything but sniping and I rarely need to snipe even when hunting animals. I quite like the revolver, and it's some how reassuring to have a fancy primary but I'd rather carry my axe any day. I don't bother picking up primaries of any kind unless I think they're essential where I am at the time. I just stick with my axe. I used to just not bother with Lee Enfields but now I don't bother with primaries unless I think I'm on a server where PvP is likely. :thumbsup:

Benito, sounds like a great strategy! :thumbsup: Me I head for Cherno, which I don't like, and then on to Elektro, which is my favourite place on the map. Then I hit the deer stands, then fill up on more water, hunt more food, head to Stary then cross country to either airfields after a maybe a day trip to Zelano or Berezino . :)

Why can't you just run up the coast? Just keep going. There's buildings at Kamrovo and hangars at Balota and the airfield! I think it just feels like a nuisance but really, it's just about seeing the benefits to that spawn. First, you get a chance to find an axe - nothing better than an axe. Then you get to try for weapons at balota, and there's the chance of food, drink and ammo in the little villages on the way. :thumbsup:

Am I right we're talking about ways to map keys to use xbox controller or mini-controller? Maybe someone has a file they can share? Or some specific advice on where to start? That's a good point, Boneboys. I have never once managed to get steam to update dayz/arma, so I am little concerned. I don't even use steam to play anymore because I find it almost impossible due to all the glitches and error messages. Is there a good place to read how to do this and guarantee I'm doing it right? Cannibal, I think what you heard was a bit confusing due to the use of the word transfering. Basically, when you move from one server to another, if they are in the same hive, you will keep the same character and therefore, keep all the items you have too. However, if it is not the same hive but a server on a different hive (and it's not always easy to know by the descriptions) then you will start a new character. Of course, you still keep your character on the other hive. And each time you start on a server from yet a different hive, you will start another new character. So keep a written note of all those server addresses and which ones are in the same hive if you want to know exactly which ones are the on the same hives. :thumbsup: :beans:

Try http://balotabuddies.net/ for whitelisted servers (mainly in AUS but they're spreading across the globe). I'm one of the mods who whitelists applicants over there. So just to ensure balance and fairness let me also tell you there is a whole long list of servers to join in the Private Hive Discussion Forum. Here http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/forum/64-private-hive-discussion/ I suggest you have a look in there and join a number of them. You'll find lots of good servers to play on in there. I've been playing DayZ for just over 400 years now (I lie) and have never found NVGs until today. Crawling around a crashed heli I see "NVGs" and think, "Nah, I've gone mad. I'm dreaming." But there they were, and they are beautiful. I've worked hard to find those things and I deserve them. I'm so pleased, I feel slightly high! :thumbsup: Now would not be the time to say "oh yeah, I find them all the time, I've got 196 spare pairs" :huh:

Yes you are missing something. You appear to have misunderstood. You refer to something called "pre-alpha" but we are already at alpha stage and that remains free. The reference to Minecraft was to its pricing structure and as an indictation of price. In other words, an initial price that is small and then going up in price with time and development. The rough estimate of price Matt gave is for the first release of the stand alone game, not for an alpha or beta test version. So I don't see how you can try to blame Rocket for a "fuck up" when you're the only one making one. If you don't understand just ask questions and we can provide answers. You'll get more positive replies that way.
