    Try moving the exe to ur ArmA dir and run it there

    It doesnt matter if you bought it from steam or not, that's how it works there and it might be the same for non-steam. I was aware that you bought it from BISs site

    On the steam version you need too run both games before you install anything else, try that or run as admin.

    Download the one in the top left corner, save it, then run the .exe. If you're getting bad serial number then are you sure you have started both games once? You can also try starting steam as admin and then run the games. Yes you can use dayz commander and i also recommnend you doing so.

    Deleting steam games files manually isn't a good option. He should delete them trough steam or control panel. I would recommend, if he feels the need to delete them, doing it trough steam. Running the games the first time after installing them (trough steam, sometimes you need to start steam as admin), will auto install BE, directx and something else (can't remember atm).

    Still, you should be able to find the right folder trough the SteamApps folder.

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead\@DayZ\Addons. That's 1 correct path and probably the path you want since you bought it from steam. actually, since you're new, i recommend you getting DayZ Commander or Play WithSix.

    "limited keys" missled me. That they will probably send the keys in batches is something i also have read or heard. Thought you meant only a certain amount players allowed totally in the alpha release.

    Do so. Also, as you might be aware of, ArmA is using a lot of CPU power. DayZ uses even more. Try going into the editor in arma and move around where you have experienced fps drops. Then add some NPCs of opposite teams next to each other and feel the difference. That way you can also determine if there's a problem with your settings somewhere or the usual lag that pretty much everyone have felt
