Please search before you create a new threadl. There are 10-15 threads already about the problem of tent placement. It makes no sense for everyone to create a new thread about this same problem. Can not place a tent

Flashlight not visible to others after pressing F to select other items

Date/Time: Night What happened: When you use flashlight (or a gun with flashlight), and press F to choose something else such as smoke grenades, other players won't see your light anymore. You will still see your own light. Where you were: Irrelevant. What you were doing: Irrelevant. *Current installed version: 1.5.7 *Server(s) you were on: EU9 *Your system specs: Irrelevant, happens to everyone. *Timeline of events before/after error: 1) Have flashlights and other items (such as chemlights, smoke grenades or flares) in your inventory 2) Take flashlight in hand, and turn it on: other people will see your light 3) Now press F to select smoke, chem or flares: Other people will no longer see your light, but you can see it 4) Now press F until your flashlight is again selected:: other people will see your light This bug seems to be true for all flashlights, including those attached to weapons such as G17. This will allow people to cheat in night missions by allowing them to see in the dark with their flashlight while others not being able to see the light from their flashlight. -

Murder 1: Seems a bit trigger happy. However, he should had announced or at least approached gun lowered to indicate he's not out to kill you. Understandable kill, but I would had taken cover and tried to contact him in chat. If he still kept coming without response, you could had shot him when he was coming up the ladder. Murder 2: I would had probably done more to avoid confrontation. Perhaps tried to run away to nearest cover and see if he's following me. Still, he kept coming and no response to chat. Understandable kill. Murder 3: Again you tried to contact through chat, and you were cornered without escape route. I would had let him come in and see me weapon lowered.. but it might had let me killed. Borderline, but still understandable. Some people don't seem to read the chat, or don't know how to reply to it. I'd say it's their own fault if they fail to respond and keep coming at you weapon raised. Once the Direct Communication channel is fixed and reliable, these kind of incidents might be avoided. People seem to be more responsive to voice than text. -

Captcha verification coming up when trying to post or preview

I keep getting this captcha verification page coming up sometimes when I try to post in the forum, or even when I just try to preview my post. Does anyone else have this problem? It doesn't come up every time, but seems to come randomly and is very annoying, as it's very hard to see what actually is written in the captcha text. It says that I can request whitelisting if I'm not a robot, so I'd like to request that, please. -

Can not place a tent

Spotted this in another bug report, could be useful: I made a small test map locally in the ArmA2 editor, tested possible locations to make sure they were suitable i.e. _isOk = true, then tried th same areas in-game/online but with no luck. Only the opening of the gear menu whilst moving and some spamming of the gear menu action seemed to get an offline verified area to work in-game/online for tent placement. I can make a video of the tent duplication and msimatch in area determination offline vs. online for tent placement if required. -

The main problem here seems to be that when you remove tent, it is not removed from database. Placing a tent on ground seems to always create a new entry to the database, removing it should remove that database entry. -

Please search before creating new threads. Performance Drop; 1.5.8.2 Hotfix It's patch related, and rocket stated there will be a hotfix soon. -
Maybe we are using a different logic here, but if I was to post about problems of tent placement, I would search and look if there is a general thread covering the topic. I understand that 1.5.8 appears to have made changes to the tent placement, but I can't see any reason why a post about these new problems could not go in an existing thread about tent placement problems. Anyways my point is (and not only to you but all of those who think about creating new threads): Search first and then think if one of the existing threads already covers the topic you are going to post about.

What I meant was those threads that already existed before you created this one. For example Fireplace and tent placement which is about exactly the same topic. Since you created this one there have been several other new ones, but my point is that all of these new threads (including yours) about the same subject are just making the forum messy. There's really no reason to create new thread about a subject if it already has an existing thread.

The threads in the search are ordered according to the date and time of last post. Of course your thread comes first when you search for it now as this is thread has the most recent posts. However, you should had searched for it before you created the new thread, don't you think? Search function: Tent

It'll probably be just a matter of time when a bandit disguises himself as a supply fairy and shoots you in the face when you least expect it. ;) However, I like your idea of friendliness and have also given out supplies to strangers sometimes when they need it. -

There are 10+ other threads about this same exact problem. Please use the search function before you create a new thread. The forum is becoming very messy because of people who are too lazy to use the search function, or think that their opinion of some particular issue deserves a new thread.

A little update on this. Originally I thought this was an ArmA 2 problem, and created an issue in dev-heaven: https://dev-heaven.net/issues/31642 After some testing, it turned out that ArmA 2 does not have this problem, and further testing proved that it is not related to usage of selectPlayer command. Conclusion: This bug is caused by something in the dayZ mod. -

It would be even better if the date would be taken from real date, like time is. Are you sure that the dayZ date is not taken from server's date?

It's usually set by the mission. Since all servers are running the same mission, I'm pretty sure the view distance will be same for all servers. There are scripts which allow you to change view distance locally, but dayZ doesn't use such a script.
