Six laucher... Useless
Wüstenfuchs (DayZ) replied to Genki Dama's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No. This is about program called Six Launcher / Six Updater. What the original poster says here is untrue: -
ArmA2 OA is not installed ....
Wüstenfuchs (DayZ) replied to lesmith's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Try re-installing ArmA 2. It sounds like it hasn't been installed properly, if the beta patch can't find the registry entry for it. -

Wüstenfuchs (DayZ) replied to lesmith's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
How did you install your ArmA? Did you buy it on Steam, install from DVD, or got it from somewhere else? -

Wüstenfuchs (DayZ) replied to Genki Dama's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No it's not a requirement. -
I'm not sure I fully understand the updates for ArmA2 and ArmA2:OA
Wüstenfuchs (DayZ) replied to Cyan-Eyed's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Yeah you'd probably have to add it as a Non-Steam game. Alternatively, you could replace your original armaoa.exe with the one in the beta folder: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:http://www.dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=10520 -

Where's the How to Arma II OA + BETA + Steam?
Wüstenfuchs (DayZ) replied to kcuestag's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's probably gone due to forum reverting to a 2-week-old backup. You can find all guides (also guides about installation) in the New Player Discussion area. Look for them in sticky threads. -

how many girls play dayz?
Wüstenfuchs (DayZ) replied to tommylogon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Why would you do that? What if someone is shouting "friendly" to you over direct communication? Or asking if you are friendly? Now you can't hear him and you get shot because you failed to respond. -
On lower left corner of the server browser, make sure it doesn't say Address: LAN. If it does, click it so that it says Address: Internet. Also check your filter settings (under Filter button). Maybe you have added accidentally something there, or changed the max ping requirement to something extremely small (0 is default, no limit).

You have to start ArmA 2 with the beta-shortcut. More info: [video GUIDE] Installation & Tutorial (+BETA) [GUIDE] Simple Install Method (includes Beta) Six Launcher - Easy Install/Update, Find/Join DayZ servers, worldwide network -
All the different server options/settings?
Wüstenfuchs (DayZ) replied to .:14A41:.Pvt.p4lztZ's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
All the mission file changes are changes for DayZ so technically I guess they should be in the DayZ change logs. The way DayZ is designed anyways is that the mission file is extremely small, and it only calls functions from the mod files so most of the mission scripts are actually in the mod's pbo files. For this reason, there won't really be much changes to the actual mission file. -
Try pressing tab-button to remove the autocompletion.

Rocket, please re-enable Side Chat and do this instead
Wüstenfuchs (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'd say keep the global/side/command channels disabled. And those new who need help, they can always look for guides in the forum :) -
With a little search you could had found the answers without having to create a new thread. 1. Voice & Text Communication 2. Day for others, night for me.

Dynamic lighting has gone screwy
Wüstenfuchs (DayZ) replied to witherfield's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This could be postprocessing settings changed in the mission file. In ArmA 2, the mission creator can use scripting commands to create postprocessing effects and change things such as contrast etc. I believe rocket has modified some of these effects in the latest mission file. -
All the different server options/settings?
Wüstenfuchs (DayZ) replied to .:14A41:.Pvt.p4lztZ's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Yes, they refer to global, side, command, group, etc. But this option to remove channels is in the mission file (not server option). All DayZ servers receive their mission file from DayZ developers, and in the latest mission file, these channels are removed. However, only those who use the beta patch will get this effect of removed channels. I don't think server has options for such changes. As far as I know, only view distance is taken from server's profile, and even that only if mission doesn't overwrite it with the setViewDistance command. Edit: Just read through the other thread, and realized it must be the postprocessing effects. Replied in other thread. -
To all the survivors out there
Wüstenfuchs (DayZ) replied to unster's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Since ArmA 2 beta build 93040' date=' direct chat has been fixed and works 100% of the time. I hope so. The current KoS mayhem is really ruining the survivor co-operation. -
Good idea!

All the different server options/settings?
Wüstenfuchs (DayZ) replied to .:14A41:.Pvt.p4lztZ's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Servers can't disable chat channels. Latest version of DayZ mission (with latest ArmA 2 beta patch) disables them. Info and discussion about voice and text chat channels here: Voice & Text Communication As for server naming and filtering, the difficulty settings are not mandatory elements of the name at the moment. There's discussion about making some of them (3dp and ch) mandatory here: Server Naming. All that server admin can change are the config options such as voice chat quality and the these difficulty settings. Whether it is recruit, regular, veteran or expert is quite irrelevant because server owner can turn individual difficulty settings on and off. -
Account deleted? Posts missing? Read this!
Wüstenfuchs (DayZ) replied to Wüstenfuchs (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This thread is pointless? Not for me. I created it just for one reason: To help people see info about deleted accounts and posts, and thus prevent the creation of a lot of threads asking about it. I believe this thread has saved a lot of work for me and other moderators, who would had otherwise had to deal with all those new threads popping up asking about deleted accounts or posts. I didn't really mean this thread for discussion, and I probably should had just locked it when I created it. -
Voice & Text Communication
Wüstenfuchs (DayZ) replied to Wüstenfuchs (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
I kind of liked to chat with people through side channel sometimes too, especially helping the new joiners. On the other hand, being able to communicate globally makes the game feel less "scary" and the constant global/side spam decreases the immersion. Because of the improved immersion, I think removing the global channels is right decision. Now you have to actually meet people before you can talk with them. If we can somehow stop this kill-on-sight madness, there could actually be strangers meeting up, talking through direct communication, forming groups in-game, etc.
