    Try reinstalling ArmA 2. It seems you are missing some files. Also if it says you are running version 1.60.87580 then you haven't started the game with the Beta shortcut.

    Make 'Direct Communication' the default channel

    When the next DayZ version 1.7.1 is released, beta patch will be required from all joiners. This means there is no more side chat on any servers after that. But direct communication as default selected channel = good idea.
  8. YES Although I think we can find better solutions for this, we do need some mechanic for recognizing the murderers now that skins are gone. This solution is better than nothing. By the way, rocket, this is a great way to ask for feedback. More threads like this :)

    Good point Rillepille. There might always be others who have the exact same problem, and it would be very helpful for them if the last post in the thread would contain the solution/fix.

    After initially being annoyed of the aiming' date=' I actually like the fact that aiming crossbow has been made difficult. Once you learn how to do it, you can become quite accurate with it. You can kill a player with 1 hit with crossbow?

    fackstah, I did delete one of your posts. However, I did not delete it because I would disagree with your post content. The thread in which your post was deleted was a duplicate, and I locked it for that reason. When a thread is locked, the last post should contain link to the other thread, so that whoever reads it can easily be redirected to the right place. Your post happened to slip in just after I posted the link, a second before I locked it. If I had locked it a second earlier, your couldn't had posted it. All your post contained was "There are no n00b questions", so I went ahead and removed it.

    YES Adds to the scary feeling of apocalypse. While you are at it, remove backpack too. Makes finding vest pouch meaningful.

    CROSSBOWS - Your opinion?

    I like the crossbow, but I wish we would have a chance to turn the dead bodies around. Often the steel bolt is on the bottom side of the fallen down body and you have no action to pick it up as you can't see it. I'm losing too many steel bolts this way, and I have to carry a lot of them (taking up a lot of the inventory / backpack space because of it.

    Form my personal experience, 9 out of 10 players have adopted kill-on-sight. With those odds, approaching strangers is no longer an option. Even the most patient person can only take certain amount of disappointments to realize that co-operating with strangers is pointless. Since I personally refuse to adopt kill-on-sight, only option remains to stay with known friends and avoid strangers completely. I think this is a pity, because meeting up and interacting with strangers used to be a very interesting feature in this mod. If the current trend continues and consequence is not introduced for mindless killing, eventually DayZ will be nothing but a team death match. Those who previously were friendly, will be converted into kill-on-sight or avoid-on-sight after they realize how small chance there is to actually meet someone who is friendly. Many will stop playing because they are not interested in death match without interaction.

    Obviously rocket didn't want the mod to turn into mindless kill-on-sight death match as it has turned in the past few weeks. This is the reason he implemented the humanity / bandit skin system in the first place, to have some kind of consequence for killing other survivors. The bandit skin solution, while was not perfect, helped to calm down the kill-on-sight, because people would think twice before shooting someone. For several reasons bandit skins were eventually removed, but the humanity system is still in the game and I'm sure rocket will eventually re-introduce some kind of punishment for the murderers who end up with low humanity. I'm sure rocket wants the stranger survivors to have also some other kind of interaction and communication besides shooting in the face. As for banditry, realistic banditry would be to rob you on gunpoint and leave you alive. In real life, very small percentage of people are so psychopaths that they can murder people on sight without any effects or consequences.

    Here are the default server difficulty setting: http://wiki.zspecialunit.org/index.php?title=ArmA_2_Server_Difficulty_Settings But whether the server is using recruit, regular, veteran or expert is irrelevant, because server admin can turn individual difficulty settings on and off. Server admin can for example turn everything off from regular difficutly, making it to be same as expert, etc. On harder difficulties some settings are forced off, though.
