1) Global chat is disabled in 1.7.1. More info in Voice & Text Communication 2) Numpad enter key. 3rd person can be disabled on server though, and it is not a mandatory thing to mention in the server name. More info: Server Naming 3) Yes 4) Yes it's safe. 5) Character is tied to your game GUID (CD-key). To make a new one you need to buy another copy of the game.

To have a second character, you have to buy another copy of ArmA 2. Your character is tied to your game GUID (CD-key). Changing profile makes no difference (except name/face change).

Find clothes in-game (apartment buildings, houses, office buildings, stores, etc), and right click on them in the inventory to put the new clothes on. Core character model can't be changed, the default survivor clothes are random (there are 2 or 3 variations of those).

Why would you want to downgrade? All servers will be 1.7.1 soon. Only way to downgrade is to find someone who has the 1.7.0 files downloaded and get them from him.

Keep spawning with almost no gear at all.
