There is a similar action to pistol but it points up instead of down. You can put your pistol into this position by opening and closing your gear menu (g). Your pistol will point up as long as you don't move. You can still look around with head, and turn your body with mouse. Your pistol remains pointing up as long as you don't change your stance or move with WSAD. -

If the server has the latest mission file, and players are joining with beta patch, they will not be able to access the global channel. If some player who joined with beta patch is still able to use the global channel, it means you do not have the latest mission file running. -
No, it's still bugged. Wherever you try to place, it just complains that the area must be flat and clear of objects (even on a clear field without objects anywhere near). Same as before. Just tested with 1.7.1.1.

This is happening because you are joining the game without using ArmA 2 Beta patch! Beta patch is mandatory since 1.7.0, but for some reason some servers are still letting non-beta clients in. All servers should restrict joiners to beta patch users only: Important: Server admins - Restrict your server to beta users. Don't play on servers which do not restrict. You can see the required version on lower right corner of the server browser. It should say 1.60.93825 (or newer build). If it says 1.60 then do not join that server. -
You need to start the game with ArmA 2 beta patch. Since 1.7.0, ArmA 2 Beta patch has been mandatory for DayZ. http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php

Press F to toggle your weapons until you get "Throw" option. The option will come as long as you have a throwable item in your inventory (not in backpack). And don't worry, there are no stupid questions :) -

There is a thread about it already: Server Naming I would like to see 3rd person and crosshair to be mandatory elements in the server name. Unfortunately there hasn't been much attention to this issue by others. Please search next time, because new unnecessary threads will cause the useful threads to be buried under pages and pages of threads.

I can retrieve most of my bolts. You just have to look carefully, try aiming at the bolt when you see it. Sometimes bolt is on the bottom side of the zombie and you can't retreive it as you can't see it. Unfortunately there is no way to turn bodies around. Sometimes the bolt stays hovering in the air at the exact position where you hit the target. -
Sorry, I made a mistake, you meant text chat and not voice chat. What you should look for is the key: "Chat", it's right above "Push to talk".

Check your options -> controls and look for "Push to talk" key. Check what key has been set there (or set it if nothing has been set).

Let me rephrase - Once everyone is forced to use the beta patches' date=' the direct communication works 100%. Everyone can hear each other on the direct lines, which isn't the case right now (Only one side of a two way conversation has side chat - never a fun event) [/quote'] Beta patch has been a mandatory requirement for DayZ since version 1.7.1, thus everyone on the server must have a working direct comm now. -

You need to install latest beta patch from http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php and then start the game with the beta shortcut.
