Need Medical Assistance? We can help.

My point stands. Most players who've played for a while learned early on to set the acquisition of matches high on their priorities, and to check farm buildings and industrial for hatchet and hunting knife. Trying to take shortcuts there is actually "cheating" - that is to say: you are cheating yourself of valuable experiences and enjoyable gametime. Of course the game offers you the option to try to quickly acquire a highpowered weapon and turn bandit, and get your survival essentials that way; in case that was the choice you made, and I don't condone or condemn either way. (Ok, morally, I condemn, but roleplaying a medic, that won't stop me from helping you if you need serious help. ;-) ) But this goes to you and everybody out there, me and people I know have been dealing with increasingly large proportions of people who not only could have helped themselves relatively easily, or would benefit from failing, and learning from their mistakes how to get better at the game, and enjoy themselves more! As an example, earlier today, I helped a patient, then travelled a long distance to supply a fellow medic who had fallen prey to bandits with a little help, and trading for some antibiotics from his friends in return. Had to go to work, after coming back, I found myself without a backpack, and only minimal survival supplies, my food and drink having been in the pack, as well as valuable antibiotics in my main inventory that needed to get to camp. Due to simple misfortune, my old bicycle took a single hit from a zombie, which broke it's frame and front wheel, leaving me stuck in the middle of a fairly sizable northern town. I barely made it to cover, dispatched a large number of zombies, then snuck out and hid in cover, making certain it was safe. When done quickly checking my map, I found myself surrounded by 3 zombies, stuck in the wall behind me, hitting me, having already broken my legs. I crawled out while being savaged until they came out of the bugged wall, dispatched them, and gave myself my last bandage and morphine. Having used up my last painkillers, and being dangerously low on blood, I snuck out of town as best I could, then proceeded to hunt for meat to heal myself up, with really blurry, shaky monochrome impaired vision. I ended up having to headshot a cow from 200m with shaky hands, in the middle of the north-eastern airstrip, then crawl in there, avoiding the marauding hordes, to recover the meat, then sneak a long way back to forest to create a fireplace, heal myself to where I wasn't in quite as much danger of being incapacitated at a single hit, then hunted zombies until I found a dose of painkillers and a new bandage. I have since been travelling about 9km, and still haven't acquired the necessary parts to go back into the dangerous area to fix up my trusty old bike, so I'm in a bit of a hurry right now to do so, and maybe I'll manage, maybe I'll fail. The point is: I am having an absolutely great time in DayZ right now, triumphing over adversity, and I am really, really glad I didn't simply convince others to extract me at the first sign of trouble. A lot of people here, myself included, derive pleasure from helping others, in part as a reaction against the large numbers of players who feed on grief. And we're happy to help in most cases! But go read what Dr Wasteland originally posted. (As it stands, the topic still reads "Need Medical Assistance?") Which I'm paraphrasing and adding to, by saying: Check and think whether you couldn't help yourself, and how awesome it could be if you managed! And only if you can't, and have good enough reasons to want to be helped, reasons good enough that you would want to help a complete stranger in a similar position, always at a cost to yourself in time and supplies, weighed up in satisfaction if it's worth it and works out, but potentially outweighed again but everything you can lose if things go wrong. There's a lot going on here that may be worth considering. But even if we only stick to selfishness: A lot of you guys out there might be missing out on some serious fun and satisfaction by too easily making others solve your problems. There's fun to be had! Go get some! :beans: This is DayZ. This is your story! And sometimes, in your story, it is time for "And then the nice man came and made it all better. He is a hero!" And then there's times when what you really want to see, is for you to become the hero of your story!

This may sound callous, Derek, but a medic may not be what you need in that instance. What you need is to acquire food and drink, which is an essential part of the basic gameplay cycle. ;) Cooked meat regenerates 800 blood per consumed steak, find yourself a boar, goat, sheep or cow and you'll be back at full health. From a pedagogical standpoint, telling you to learn to fend for yourself should be the kinder thing here, rather than encouraging you to be dependent on the goodwill of others. Now if, however, you were to go break a leg, and thus become less easily able to fend for yourself, I'd volunteer help, even though the consideration may persist that it might be in your own best interest to take a couple of the harsh lessons this game throws at you, learn from them, and become more adept at the game thereby, and thus enjoying it more too.

Available for a short stint, given low incidence of us right now. :-) Single antibiotic stocked, please only request if you're worth it, acquisition and preservation of this item is worth a character history of its own, needs worthy recipient, ^^ Happy to bring you and apply bloodbag, morphine, bandage, epi-pen, food and water, ideally combination thereof if you're not near my current location at the time. Hit me up on Steam, "syacelion", if your epic adventure needs an interlude / some comic relief! Update: 1 quick morphine delivery, now off to real work. Heh. Laters!

Need Medical Assistance? We can help.

Signing off. Taking that last call just as I was logging out almost cost me the ambulance, patient I was getting antibiotics to fell off a ladder just as I pulled up, picked up her identical twin from Kamenka, outfitted her and assisted her in the burial, then took her for speed shopping, which again almost cost me the ambulance, which now sports 5 new bullet holes clustered around where my head was at the time; luckily the snipers then went for the tires, then thankfully switched to my patient running back up and jumping in (and thankfully missing again!). Tire barely held for the rest of the mad escape, burst by the time we'd cleared Electro and I'd dropped off my patient, then brushed against a tiny piece of debris just out of sight, a long hike later, and thank overpreparedness for keeping spare parts on hand, I finally got my precious back on the road and homeward bound. And that was just the last one. Expect more tales on this channel - I know I do, so post, people involved! The AmBlueLance was on a roll again! Distance covered: 11 jerry cans' worth. Bloodbags administered 9, epi-pens 4, painkillers only 3, bandages 10, morphine 6, antibiotics 1 delivered but not applied, patient having succumbed to fatal fall and not minding the coughing so much anymore.

I find myself currently unable to add people on Steam, please check if the reverse is also true, as I would be available and taking patients once more, soon as I can get +Ben+, Smack and Terror and herd them into the AmBlueLance! Got 1 unit of antibiotics handy, Strazyplus try adding me on Steam, in case you didn't get PM.

Regarding standardised emergency reporting: Recent experience has taught us to please make sure we know what you look like -special clothing? -backpack type? -primary/secondary in hand? and whether you're on your own or have just found other players nearby, friendly, unconfirmed or otherwise. As +Ben reported earlier, yesterday, we rushed into Elektro and pulled up near our rendez-vous location, our patient writes to greet us in direct comms and we tell him to come out, and immediately a player with an Enfield and patrol pack then comes out of the front door of his building. As we deploy to provide cover while giving him a transfusion, we suddenly spot a ghillie suited player up on the roof, 3 corpses near him, coming to lean over the balustrade, then running back into the building and coming down the stairs and coming towards us brandishing a shotgun. Frantically shouting for identification, we had to assume hostile, as by then there was already shooting going on. So I called we'd fire if he came out. And so we ended up firing on who turned out to be our patient, while some random guy, having gotten a transfusion he may or may not have needed, quickly jumped into the ambulance, grabbed valuables and made off. We grabbed our patient's stuff and drove to pick him up and re-equip him with his own stuff and our spares. No replacing his ghillie suit, unfortunately, but we offered free transportation in return, though as related earlier, he decided to climb onto the hospital roof when we pulled up for a quick ... ahem... liberation of emergency supplies, and took a sniper's bullet. All in all, a lot of lives were saved that day, and a lot of fun was had, but for this one unlucky fellow, our encounter proved a mixed blessing. So please make sure you properly establish recognition and communication protocols. I usually enforce them when on my own, but as a spontaneously put together ambulance crew, we hadn't coordinated quite well enough yet for quick extractions from a hot zone. Still, the AmBlueLance will roll again! Stay tuned! B)

The doctor will see you now. Happy to respond to emergencies in the central and east areas of the map. PMs may take some processing, hitting me up on Steam ("syacelion") should yield fastest results. Currently carrying morphine, bandages and bloodbags, and happy to provide further assistance, within reason, depending on the situation. Stay safe out there!
  12. Spent a few hours on this now. Shift numpad- "flush" usually makes it worse, alt-tabbing works for a friend, not for me, moving 200m away and coming back has caused this to happen after a while of it being fine so reverse might also happen. Best bet so far: get the heck in cover, wait 2 minutes to be sure nobody is trying to snipe your blind self, then restart the game. The problem is that, either you may get reported for disconnecting during supposed combat, or more likely, due to logging in and out a lot until it's fixed, you may get kicked or even banned for suspected server hopping / lack of combat etiquette. Vsync settings do not affect it for me, except also flushing/resetting the renderer, and more often than not changing that and changing it back(or not) also made it worse. This is annoying, but definitely centred on 1 type of dead soldier.

    0.28% Chance..

"Dupe" = duplicate. Exploiting glitches to copy items. Will be fixed eventually, either by removing the glitches or sending stealth assassins to the homes of people who exploit them. Edit: Way too slow tonight...

    Stuck on loading everywhere...

Please be more specific. Do you use SixLauncher, do you use Steam, do you update manually, what DayZ version and what beta patch do you have installed, what DayZ and beta version are the servers you've been trying to connect to? Compare those, see if anything strikes you. Or write down server versions you're trying and be systematic in trying them out. Or browse this forum for people with similar issues. Merely complaining won't fix it, if you want people to help you, help them help you please.

    Graphical Issue near balota

Same issue, multiple locations inside military tents in Stary sobor if I so much as glance anywhere near that direction from up to 400m away create this multidimensional tesselation scrunchies. Risked it and ran in and around trying to isolate, would put my money on earlier conclusion that some of the world prop dead soldiers to blame. Also confirming that this only started occuring after today's update via SixLauncher, 12 hours ago military tents and dead soldiers were well behaved. Tried switching servers, both daylight and darkness, still occurring, that area is not only blinding but psychedelic. Relaunched the game twice, now it's suddenly no longer happening.

Now taking patients in the central east division. (Antibiotics currently out of stock.)
  21. So to sum up what the people above me are saying: Don't worry, don't feel bad, just stick with the wanton murder in videogames, in time you will harden yourself enough to be able to become the serial killer we all want you to become! Did you at least look straight at your victim's back for a while and hear a fast heartbeat, to indicate he had a couple kills on his conscience? :bandit: Because otherwise, what you did was commit deliberate murder, :murder: with intent, when you could have easily backed out and avoided the encounter unseen. It's a game. You have the option to be a bandit. You are invited to try out different playstyles, and do things that you would or could, or even should perhaps not do in real life. It's play. It's also a form of expression, and a medium, and how you react to your experiences in it can be worth a good long look at. So well done you for feeling guilty, in that situation, you definitely should, else your surroundings should be worried.
  22. Was using a tractor to right my atv which had flipped after a triple salto done by driving over an invisible curb at 11kmh, got kicked by battleeye when hitting the atv again, the tractor I was in with all the gear inside despawned with me according to my team mates, and I can't rejoin now.
  23. Happens quite a bit, though a fair share of wiped tents get restored after the second server restart. The best way is to pitch a tent, put a bandage or something in, save it a few times, then come back 2 server restarts ( if unsure: 2 days) later and only if your bandage is still there to start stashing valuables.

Sometimes people are also not responding because the person posting 2 posts above you has an issue of his own and the perfect solution to both your woes. :) I can only speak for myself, of course, but I'm sure, much as we derive pleasure from providing our services, we're certainly not sorry if sometimes you find the perfect match right here in the waiting room. You're very welcome! Good luck out there, stay safe! Currently a bit low on complimentary compasses and merchandising matches, but still happy to provide transfusions, food, water, morphine and spare morphine for the road, as well as directions and advice as needed. :)
