I always put them out. I'm all for helping others out but I'm pretty wary about attracting attention.

I'm not averse to new players coming, not even ones who come to DayZ 'raw'. The game has a lot of unique experiences to offer and although it might scare some new players off, it'll give others a whole new perspective on what games can offer. But the video... I like the Yogscast Minecraft videos, but this DayZ one was rubbish IMO. There are loads of other ones that give a much better impression of what it's all about and what it's actually like. But whatev, if it brings more people in then that's good enough for me.

I found an ATV parked up by a road somewhere west of Berezino while I was yomping south-west on an epic trek to Kamenka. I couldn't believe my luck. It was just sitting there like it was waiting for me. I scanned the area and saw no sign of its owner so I jumped on it and gunned the engine. I drove it across the road and between a couple of bushes when I suddenly took damage, my screen greyed out and I was suddenly horizontal. I got off, bandaged myself, then saw the low, broken wall I'd crashed into. I'd driven approximately 10 yards before tipping the damn thing onto its side and causing myself a fairly serious injury. I walked the rest of the way to Kamenka. It took fucking ages.

The "best" guns aren't necessarily the best guns for your playstyle. Don't rush out and grab a sniper rifle because they're the "best" guns, and then tell us there's nothing to do but PvP.

Indeed. The idea is that even if you close your client your character stays on the server until the timer expires. Been done in MMOs since god knows when.

I won't kill another player but I'll take whatever I can from his tent. In fact I found a bunch of tents a couple of kilometres east of Novy Sobor a weeks or two ago, most were empty but a couple had food, cooked meat and a few bits of medical supplies. I took what I could and left the rest. The other tent had loads of military ammo inside, so I took it all out piece by piece and dumped it in the woods. Why? It might have bought a few people a few more days of living.

My career doesn't affect my gameplay at all, but my love of the wilderness and wildcamping does.
