I got abducted by aliens. They looked like wookies and had a UFO. I don't remember what happened after that.

To whoever is calling out Undead Lab's Class 3
sixbarns replied to iongaming33@aim.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The odds of a shooter fan not playing CoD is pretty slim. Anyone that refers to DayZ as a "FPS" game is a very likely CoD player. (well, greater chance of being right at least) -
I refuse to exploit, Abort, or server hop to avoid death, obtain gear or kills. What about you?
sixbarns replied to Max Railgrave's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't because I have more fun restarting than running around with overpowered gear. -

Took a look. Class3 will be a good singleplayer game. Let me know when Class4 comes out and co-op and multiplayer becomes possible. -

A game somewhat similar to DayZ that isn't produced by a bullshit company with actual people with experience outside of pay to win games? Sounds good. -

I actually did mix you up with an asshat that was responding earlier. I can admit that I was wrong. I was wrong in that. Anyway, I didn't put words in your mouth, I asked a question relevant to the discussion. Deathspam can happen and respawns can also be long. I did mention what could quite possibly be the cause to that. Try not to make your own assumptions about others if you're smart enough to spot other users doing the same thing. I don't belong to any Rocket butt love club but I'd take his word on the impact respawn spamming would have on a server over a random guy on the forum. People are freaking out. They're acting like the game is completely ruined because they can't kill themselves again and again with the click of a button. If respawn spam is bogging down the server performance then I'm all for getting rid of the button or putting a 5-10 minute delay on it. I'd rather play without having to deal with yellow or red chains or long load times. -

Yeah, guys like you. Based on your whiny posts about the respawn button being removed. Quite a few people here have mentioned the load in times. Do yourself a favor and use the forum search feature if you can't be bothered to read this thread. Even inexperienced players can print out a map. Is that cheating? Most sandbox games come with maps so I don't really consider that the case. Learning how to read contour lines on a map doesn't take too much time and pinpointing a location and path based on a map isn't that hard with a tiny bit of experience. You haven't even see what this change will do to the game. How about you try it out before freaking out? You're the one acting childish here. Try to tone it down and people might take you seriously. -

This is truly the only valid complaint. I have morphine but that's not going to help me much if I'm turned into a goat and parachuted into the sea. -

It will indeed slow down the spawns which will take load off the server. Rather than suiciding themselves the instant they respawn because they're in bloody Kamenka again they'll have to find some zombies. Oh no!? Yeah, it doesn't STOP the problem but it slows it down and I bet a lot of people are going to say fuck it and decide to walk rather than do that again and again. Perhaps this was considered when they decided to do this? Maybe my respawns are super slow but I could probably run to any location from any beach spawn in the time it takes to respawn 4-5 times. This could of course vary on the server and may depend whether or not 10-15 other people are repeatedly killing themselves just to get where they want to be. You should maybe complete your thoughts before trying to insult me or other members of the community for not agreeing with you.. "Suicide by zombie = faster than walking from one end of the coast to the other. Suicide by zombie = additional characters created + in some circumstances loot spawns = more stress on the hive." Suicide by button at respawn = instant Can you not see how having to find some zombies or a building/bridge to jump off would take longer than pressing a button and therefore cut down tremendously on the amount of suicides in a given time? I'm the retarded one here? -
I'd use it. Safer than walking along the coast. The fishing boat is pretty terrible though. The rubber boats are much faster and much easier to hide.

I'm going to have to take Rockets word on this over yours. It seems like he would know more about this than you. Just saying. -

Yeah, says me. It's not hard to do unless you both spawn on the opposite sides of the map. Even if you didn't want to kill yourself you could easily meet up in 15-20 minutes time if both of you ran in the right direction. I don't even see why guys like you are upset. Loading into the game can take up to 10 minutes. If you guys are killing yourselves again and again for a "better spawn" then you clearly have time to run a distance in that time. If that's too hard for some of you then I see why you no skill cowards camp the major cities to pk noobs. If you bothered to read anything about this topic you would have known that Rocket has admitted that this isn't even concrete and can change if it doesn't work out. Most people who have been playing longer than a couple weeks don't need a map to figure out where they are when they spawn. Learn the map. Quit crying. -

It does more than that. Besides reducing server load it'll force players to play intelligently and maybe treat their characters as more than disposable targets. I'll be surprised if gangs of people are still deathmatching in Cherno or Elektro after this patch. Also, if a person doesn't have 10-15 minutes to "start" playing then they're trying to play the wrong game. It can take longer than that to get somewhere interesting. Sounds like some of you are more interested in camping Cherno and killing noobs than surviving. -
Anyone got some L4D alpha footage?

Why are people getting satisfied over killing people with nothing on them ?
sixbarns replied to MrTamarian's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
They think its funny because they know a high percentage of the players they kill will rage or cry. They also have no imagination and grew up playing cookie cutter FPS games. -
Poll: DayZ or The War Z?
sixbarns replied to omgwtfbbq (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I know nothing about WarZ than what they've claimed the game would be. There are no screenshots. There are no videos of it playing. There's no proof it even exists other than a guy from a pay-to-win company claiming it exists. I'm starting to think half of these WarZ threads are started by WarZ marketing gimps. -
Not really. A guy with a winchester cannot teleport you into the middle of nowhere and then drop a bus on your head. And they're not spending that kind of money to get these programs.
-
That's how funny tastes.

This game will fail long term if the PK problem isnt addressed
sixbarns replied to Gadget (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That would be the easiest grief ever. I don't think the're holding back on the number of zombies just because they feel like it. And going through all the trouble of setting up PVE system would be a waste as the PVE guys would only come back a few weeks later and whine that there is nothing for them to do. -

sixbarns replied to Gadget (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I can't imagine what we would do if it was PVE. Shooting zombies that never really vary in difficulty isn't challenging. I could see it being somewhat entertaining if everything was much more rare and items never respawned so you'd be forced to travel constantly or search further and further from you base just to find food. Even that would end the second you find a hunting knife, matches, and canteen. -
That's a poor generalization. Everything you enjoy on the internet is thanks to hackers. At one point the term "hackers" wasn't a bad word. Besides, these are script kiddies, not hackers. Even that isn't accurate as all they've done is download a program.
-
Not all hackers are morons. Some actually improve the game but this is probably a very small percentage. They'll continue to do mass kills as long as people get upset. They're doing it for the lulz and to troll. These morons will move on to the next game soon enough but for now we're going to have to deal with a lot of idiots.

It's possible to shoot through walls. "are you friendly?" "sure, lower your weapon"
-
All of the items below have worked for me and the people I now play with. Caps lock: This is an easy one. Make sure you've changed your communications channel to Direct. You do this by pressing "," or "." keys a few times until you see "direct communication" on the bottom left of the screen. This allows you to talk directly to people around you. It is your best way to communicate to other players. Typing messages is slow and clumsy and the delay could cost you your life. left ALT: By holding this key you enable free-look. This allows you to look around and at other players without pointing your gun directly at them. Your characters head also moves. This is useful in dangerous areas as you only need to let go of ALT to snap back into aiming your weapon. Double tapping left ALT locks your character in free-look which can be handy if you're in a safe area talking to other survivors and you don't want to get your head blown off. To exit locked freelook, double tap left ALT again. The number pad also allows you to look around and my be easier to use. RANDOM KEY, you decide: As much as some of us may think this is degrading, binding your surrender animation can save your life and might just help you make friends in game. Some bandits and players may ask you to do this from time to time. These guys are usually playing just for fun and earning their trust could go a long way to earning their friendship. It not only shows them that you know your controls but also that you're willing to roleplay a little and that you're looking to have fun too. That creates a common ground that you can build on. To bind your surrender animation to a key watch this video by Acebane: http://dayzmod.com/f...ey/#entry339138 Double Tap left CTRL: This lowers your primary weapon. It is extremely useful as it allows you to look and move around without pointing your weapon at other players. This should only be used when in the company of trusted people or if you and another survivor agree to lower your weapons. Double tapping this key again or pressing your trigger button once will raise your weapon. It takes a second for the character to raise his weapon and this could give you enough time to react to a "friendly" survivor turning hostile. (This will not work with secondary weapons) Number pad ENTER: This enables and disables the Third Person view. It is best to use this when exploring and travelling as it gives you a better view of your surroundings. It allows you to see around and over objects which can help prevent unexpected run ins with players and zombies alike. This also helps you avoid shooting your friends as you can see them coming before they turn the corner. Less surprises = less accidental deaths. Actions speak louder than words. Communicating through character stances can go a long way to building trust.

hahahahahahaaha Good joke man. That was super awesome. One day I hope I can take reality and flip it on it's head just to amuse stranger on the internet.
