I'm interested in seeing what kind of map(s) the standalone comes with and how they'll impact non-stop pvp guys. I know some of them will fuck off if the large towns are not near noob spawns but the full impact will be interesting to watch.

If this is even legit, you're only option is to run around without a gun healing people or something.

Graphic/artifact glitch. Hackers Work/Life The artifacting is likely running a lot of people off until it's fixed. You can clearly see this by the posts. Hackers are being massive dicks and people are waiting for this to be lessened as one of the major draws to this game is the survival aspect which can't even be attempted with script kiddies showing how "uber" their skeelz are.

No one knows. Everyone is making the best guess they can to answer you questions. Just know that we could all be wrong. (My guess, 20-30 bucks, alpha for standalone out within a month or two with same features currently in game, with additional features and improvements added during development. It'll likely be available for download here or on popular distribution networks.) Honestly, buy the game now if you and a couple of your friends can afford to host your own server and then whitelist it. I know this is frowned on by the DayZ staff but the hackers are out of control. The only way to keep the community sane is to allow whitelisted private hive servers. The survival aspect of this game is somewhat in shambles at the moment on core hive servers. If you want to take a shot at the game as it currently is I suggest you remember this is only an alpha of a mod and it's plagued with issues. It can still be extremely fun and satisfying if you accept your characters inevitable death at the hands of bugs or hackers.

I've played on a private hive PVE server for a couple days. Get's really boring really fast. Zombies are simply not a threat right now and knowing you're not going to get gunned down by some random player seems to ruin the experience. Strangely, that feeling is completely different from knowing you're going to get murdered by some hacker douche.

I like it. Can't see why anyone hates it. The zombies seem to be a little tougher, perhaps because of their numbers, and it's nice to have a new place to explore.

The hackers have impacted the way people are playing. Not much point in putting in days of survival if you're going to get mass killed by some dork with a script. Hopefully things will settle as the bannings progress and when we get to standalone.
