It can take 3 to 10 minutes to load you into the game. This is either due to the massive amounts of players or Rocket playing a joke on the loggers.
-
The mic doesn't work in Arma2 either? First, are you pressing caps lock to talk? Are you in the proper channel? What operating system are you using?
-
Sixlauncher also takes a while to give you ping results. Just wait a few minute and they'll start to roll in.
-
The night time in this game without a full moon is pretty damn realistic. I nearly poked my eye out once on a pitch black night in a national park in Utah.
-
Make sure you're clicking on the ping tab when looking at the server list. You should have to do it twice to filter the lowest pings to the top. Keep searching. The 'not received a message for X seconds' message has to do with the server going down. There isn't much you can do about that.

Not all clans are like that. There are plenty of casual clans and you can learn all sorts of useful tips and tricks from them. Some clans are even dedicated to helping new players. I see why you did what you did now but we as a community need to establish some self imposed rules about these situations. Using direct chat isn't working as anyone can say they're friendly. We could also start lowering our weapons. There is a key for that and if people would stop pointing guns at strangers I think some of the killing will stop. When two people meet their instinct is to look in the other players direction which points a gun as well. Both are extremely alert and any unexpected movement is going to result in a trigger pull. I just wouldn't approach a group like that even if they lowered their guns, said they were friendly, did the friendly dance, and offered me supplies. Large groups are much less likely to be friendly than a loner.

The only people I help are obvious noobs on the coast. Not respawn noobs. Actual noobs that think crawling down the middle of a street is a good idea. Lately I've been dropping a hatchet, a can of food, and drink for them and then telling them to keep their distance or else. If they follow me or get too close with that hatchet, they're getting shot in the leg. We can be helpful and friendly if we're smart about it.
-
It's really you guys that ruin the game for yourselves. What makes you think anyone is friendly in the first place? How many bullets in the back does it take to figure this one out? The best way to find friendlies is by joining a clan.
-
You should have shot them before shooting at the zombies. Teams like that are not going to be friendly towards a loner with a gun. I'm amazed so many people expect other players to be friendly.
-
Maybe they were getting gunned down on another server and tried to quit before dying. They logged back into a new server hoping no one was around but both were knocked out when they logged back in. You came around and cleaned up. These server hopping loggers can gear up pretty well so don't assume they were hacking. They could have been server hopping that airfield all day.

Expect anywhere between a 3 to 10 minute load in. Just wait. It sucks but it passes and soon enough you forget you were frustrated with the load and become frustrated with the next issue. Then you kill stuff. It works out quite well.

I play Dayz on nearly all normal settings with a dual core 2.4. You don't need to shell out a grand to play ARMA or DayZ on normal settings. Listen to Butter_Milch and Enforcer. They're honestly trying to get you the most for your money. Take the specs from that blue light special and call around to local PC shops. Give them the specs, ask about better graphics cards, and see what they quote you. You're going to save a lot of money.
-
The case. You're paying a high price for the packaging bro.
-
I'd rather see less ammo and magazines with very few rounds. Reduce the ammo in game, reduce the retarded behavior. Finding an AK wouldn't mean much if it only had 3 bullets. You'd really have to decide whether or not to carry it around while hoping to find more rounds.

Is there any way to play this game on high without lagging?
sixbarns replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I play on: dual core 2.4 2 gigs of measly ram 1 gig nvidia 9500gt My weak sauce system does the trick. I only have frame rate problems in large towns with tons of players and zombies are running around. It doesn't look awesome but the game runs like butter on the servers I play on. I do have to restart the client after dying as my computer starts to choke on all the awesome. Update your graphics card drivers manually. Don't let windows find the drivers, windows is stupid. I've also seen quite a few optimization threads on this forum. Worth looking up if you're having fps issues on systems more powerful than mine. Mouse lag can be fixed by editing a config file. http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2782938 -

Nah. It keeps the loggers and server hoppers at bay. -
Seems to have stopped some unwanted behavior though.
-
That's sort of what I enjoy. It feels more doomy to me that way. I don't really want the north to be as chaotic as the south.
-
What if the magazines had random amounts of ammo in them? People would definitely think twice if they only had 3 rounds.
-
A map about 25-30% bigger would feel about right.
-
After five days of playing this, I have determined that DayZ is a marathon simulator.

OP has it all wrong. Guns don't make you run faster, knives do. -
Kind of funny but I'm a cunt too.

[UPDATED] Weekly Stats, PvP Trends
sixbarns replied to ZedsDeadBaby's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
1. People who logout the second they get hit. They may or may not bleed out when they log into what safety blanket they use. That death doesn't appear to count. 2. Patches, people not being able to get in, and slow servers are keeping people from logging in. In the past three days it's also kept a lot of people away from the coasts or high activity areas because the logins were so slow. 3. Shooting a guy in the leg and letting the zombies eat him. Players don't always get a murder for this and it's pretty funny so people are doing it more. Just three reasons why the numbers could be falling.
