Betelgeuse

This is starting to get really annoying and I am just looking for a way to make it a little easier to deal with. I was playing on a server and got the "no message received in xx amount of seconds. Then it counts to about 90 and says I lost connection. I check sixuploader and it shows that the server is at zero players so it means it happens to everyone. I assume it is the server crashing because if it was simply doing a "reset" I assume it would save your player first. That is my problem. When I rejoin I am back across the city without any weapons or supplies that I have gathered. I made quite a bit of progress and survived some tight situations only to get sent back across the city again, with zombies all around me. (here is where I ramble a bit) Zombies spotted me shortly after I spawned so I got irritated and backed out, which apparently made me go into shock upon rejoining. Okay fine, my fault. I wait five minutes staring at the wall then I start moving again to regain my progress that I had lost in the disconnection (I am on a different server now) then a few minutes later I get hit with the stupid message and count again. If this always happens, I get it but is there a way to save my progress before I get completely screwed? Maybe if I abort mission and reload the game after finding important supplies and such it will save my character? Is there a good way to deal with this or just suck it up and get used to it? Today is only my second day playing and this happened to me once yesterday and I just ignored it but now it completely ruined my gaming today so I am hoping this is not going to happen every day multiple times with no way to make it easier. How does everyone deal with this situation?

I am new but I think it would not be nearly as much fun if you started with a weapon.
