  1. I had the same issue while updating to the most recent one. I fixed everything by deleting dayz and re-installing the mod using six

I would try it, but I don't want to install the newest update. I'd rather stick with 1.7.1.5 until 1.7.2 is more stable.

  2. I updated to Arma 1.7.2, and then when I couldn't connect to server, I downgraded back to 1.7.1.5 by deleting the @DayZ folder contents and replacing them with the old 1.7.1.5 file. Since then, I haven't been able to get any audio out of the game. No sound whatsoever, except when I try to adjust audio settings in game where you hear that man talking and some random gunfire.

Also, I'm using Beta build 94700.

The volume is set correctly in game, and also set correctly in the system's volume mixer in Windows 7.

Any idea what I can do about this?

  3. Ok what graphic card do i need to run it on high

and would 4gb ram would work?

Um... this isn't the nicest looking game in the world. I don't see the the point in upgrading your graphics card for this game.

If you want something awesome though, the GeForce GTX 690 is nice and shiney. :3

  4. I found a few things my last life. I was primarily looking for a hatchet or some kind of weapon. A survivor came out of this barn I was heading towards. All he had was an axe and I had nothing. I was crawling prone and he looked down at me and I said "please don't axe me. lol" and he started to walk away, but then turned back and hacked at my legs then finished me off.

I was pretty disappointed, especially since I wouldn't have killed him. I've never killed anyone.

The moral of the story is, don't feel bad. He probably would have tried to kill you. lol

  5. I finally found an in-game map for the first time and I was hanging around in some bushes, scouting a city and when I opened the map, it had a blue icon that represented me, but then I saw an Orange Icon that sad "Man". I've seen them several times lately and they pop up at random places, but when I check those places out, I never see anyone.

Is this a bug, or are there really people around that I haven't spotted?

  6. I had an M1911 and I found a Makarov but it said I had to drop the pistol I was holding first. I really wanted to pick up the Makarov so I could give it to my friend when he started his new character.

Am I really not able to do this or do I just not know how?

Also, the lighting is still bugging me. It shifts way too much. It gets dark when I look up. The brightness increases DRAMATICALLY when I look down to the point where it looks like my character is going to explode into a sun, and then it gets dark again when I look up. Any way to fix this?

  7. First of all, how do I toggle back my debug menu? I can't see how much blood I have or my temperature.

Second, how can I test to see if my microphone is working? I pushed comma until it said "Direct Communication" but when I hit CAPS LOCK to talk to a guy, he didn't respond and just kind of scurried away.

Also, I seem to have lost my backpack. I assume it was removed when I picked up more items than I could carry. I wasn't paying attention. Any suggestions?

What's the best place to find some kind of firearm? I've never found one. I carry around a hatchet for self-defense and a lot of soda. I have a good amount of sidearm ammo too.

Finally, why are the sounds I make SO LOUD? When the ear marker says I'm making little noise, I don't like to hear loud scraping noises or heavy thuds. It makes me feel like someone is near when I'm absolutely alone.

  8. Except maybe for the scrap metal and engine parts' date=' what you've found will generally improve your chances of survival. Did you know you can throw empty cans, flares and bottles to distract infected? Also the hatchet is a weapon, you just need to right click it and select "Remove from toolbelt" then it will be placed into your primary weapon slot. Some people actually prefer the axe to other weapons, depending on play style.

    [/quote']

I've thrown cans and flares and the infected didn't react to the cans at all. I think a few might have looked at a flare I threw once. They kind of waddled around it but They were already near and they might have been heading that way anyway.

  9. So I've put several hours into Day Z in the last two days and I'm pretty frustrated.

First of all, I can't find food or water anywhere, or weapons for that matter. I spawn on the coast and look for building for provisions. I usually find just empty cans and occasionally empty bottles.

I've never found any FOOD or WATER or a CANTEEN to fill with WATER. I've never found any WEAPONS either.

Here are the only things I've ever found:

    Empty Cans

    Empty Bottles

    A Hatchet

    Chem Lights

    Road Flares

    Engine Parts

    Scrap Metal

    Various types of Ammo

Also, most of the buildings I come across don't have any openings. I can't enter them so I assume they're just there for decoration, which is always a bit disappointing when I come across one while I'm dehydrating and lacking food.

Any suggestions, guys? What am I doing wrong?

On a side note, the lighting really bugs the heck out of me. It gets super dark and super light out of no where. Any way to fix this?
