  1. To be fair, Day Z *could* use the depth of communication seen inside Urban Dead. Which I have played, coincidentally. As a disclaimer, I do realize most of these ideas are on the list, but: The UD grafitti system is totally lacking in Day Z. It'd be great to be able to spraypaint messages on walls, like "STAY THE HELL OUT THIS IS MY FIRE STATION" or "NEED A HIRED GUN? CALL UP JIMMY AT..." Generators might be a good addition, but those discussions have/are happened/happening already. And of course radios. But those are probably accepted already, right? That's it. Nothing else is applicable, really.

What if we removed the crosshair?

I personally disagree with these "character cues"...it's not like you have to hold up your hands and watch to see if they're shaking to know if you're in pain, or have to check to see if your stomach rumbles to decide whether you could do with eating or not. If you're hungry or thirsty or hurt, you freaking KNOW. I don't want to have to go out of my way to try to guess my character's most basic human needs, when obviously it's even less realistic than the current system... Do I think the current canteen-and-cutlery system is the best solution? No. But I think it should be something...well, as obvious as your own personal hunger or thirst, not less.

    Keep humanity in Day Z!

Are you serious? I can't tell if you're serious or not. I personally hate the humanity system. It's simply way too artificial. If you're the kind of bandit who shoots bambis from the treeline 450 yards away, your appearance does nothing, except of course having a ghillie suit. The "this guy's a bandit" cue from your clothes is lost on the victim, because they never actually *see* you. And the smooth-talking bandit who pretends to need a blood transfusion or asks to meet up with people obviously hates the bandit skin. I've seen them try every trick in the book to make excuses for their skins, and usually they don't work. Finally, completely innocent people who have to defend themselves from other survivors, especially the trigger-happy bambis who shoot on sight because it's what they think is proper, also hate the humanity system. The game condemns them without a trial, and they have to deal with a bandit skin for days, even though they aren't even bandits. If you want to dress a certain way to identify yourself as a stone cold killa or something, that's up to you. But this humanity-changing-your-clothes-automatically system is ridiculous. And no, I REFUSE to stay off of this topic, because I have a right to disagree with you. That statement just shows your immaturity, frankly.

    Bury your stuff

Just real quick: The space in one individual hole argument is irrelevant. So what if I can only put five cans into a hole? I'll dig another. I still have a shovel. And there's no way Rocket would make a "YOU ALREADY DUG FIVE HOLES" pop-up.

    jets

I want to see this comment have the most beans ever given to anyone on any thread ever. DO IT.
  6. FlashHawk4

    jets

Just to contradict you, how many of the average Day Z players would last more than 12 seconds flying an ArmA jet with mouse and keyboard?
  7. FlashHawk4

    Bury your stuff

This is honestly one thing that I don't think I've ever seen suggested before. And it's pretty damn obvious, now that I think of it. If I really wanted to hide someting, and I had a shovel, I'd totally do it. +1, most original idea I've seen all week.

    Randomized "Zombies"

To be honest, this is one thing I'd be more than willing to sacrifice for performance, as someone else mentioned up here.
  9. FlashHawk4

    jets

You'll notice he's got five of these. Plus, if they're perfectly fine, why the hell are they here? The first thing an overwhelmed government does is fly its planes out. Saddam did it, Assad did it, etc. etc.
  10. FlashHawk4

    Electronic Components

Unfortunately, this is a good idea that will never make it into Day Z. I'm all for the "making it just like real life" approach, but we can't afford to do it with everything. You just can't make one game into a massive flight sim, a massive sniping sim, a massive car repair sim, a massive medicine sim, a massive electrical engineering sim, a massive farming sim, a massive hunting sim, a massive fishing sim...etc. Just gotta put it out there. Maybe in another decade or so. EDIT: One more thing: WTF is with the stuffed animals tag?

    Removing another players weapon?

No no, you had a point. We COULD do that. It'd be a nice way to prevent the coast-bandits who pretty much shove their gun-barrels in someone's face without having to worry about them doing ANYTHING, since because they have no gun, hatchet, or crowbar, they're totally helpless as of now. Especially since it would neutralize that gun in your face (at least temporarily), unlike simply punching someone like an average video game. That way, they'd have to worry about getting disarmed at close range, or missing at a further range. Just like a real mugger!

    Idea for vehicles

Okay, I might have some good news. I wanna say that Rocket has explicitly stated that repairing vehicles is far too easy in the current alpha of the game. Obviously, at least a little bit of this can be traced back to the ArmA vehicle damage modelling (it's hard to simulate repairing a vehicle when the only parts that can take damage in the first place consist of "engine", "wheel", "fuel tank", etc...) Anyway, most of us would like it to be harder, but we don't want something artificial like a class system where you have to check the box marked "Mechanic" if you ever want to fix a car in your life or a book system where you HAVE to read the magic manual to instantly master the skill. Therefore, the best way to include this is (in my opinion) making the actual act of fixing a car more like what you as a mechanic would actually do. Maybe not "here's a list of 46 parts that are broken on this Jeep, good luck", but more like "it's not turning over and it's making this really specific funny noise, I'd better ask my buddy who's good at this to see what's wrong with it". Obviously that puts more of an incentive towards teamwork, since not everyone knows how to diagnose a car's problems and then set them right. Just my two cents.

    Removing another players weapon?

Yeah, disarming would be nice. In my opinion, one of the reasons shooting-on-sight is such a common occurence is because the force continuum consists entirely of: Say hello | | | V Shoot for the freaking head. If you can't talk them into lowering their gun or dropping it outright, you've gotta shoot 'em to make them put it down. There are situations in which taking a gun out of people's hands would be a feasible middle ground between these two actions.

    pulling off drive-bys

Someone's gonna do it, might as well be me. Look over the forums before you post. Seen it already.

    Suggestion (Blood Trails when bleeding)

Gotta love the current wounds. Y'know, the ones that spray a pressurized geyser of blood like three feet into the air and come down in a shower on your baseball cap.
  16. FlashHawk4

    End Game: Gardening, not "Events"

Anyone wanna cook up some Jet or some Psycho? But about that farming idea...
  17. FlashHawk4

Suggestion - Coming back as zombie (please read)

Sorry, buddy, but I hope you realize there are *other* bacterial/virological illnesses than just zombie-virus. Otherwise we'd be screwed.
  18. FlashHawk4

    Suggestion: weapon Repair and degradation

^^ Seriously, though. It's already in. Try using the search button. "Weapon" plus "repair".
  19. All you're doing is learning an alphabet. I learned it in a week.

    Zed spawn range

This has been discussed SO many times already. Not even kidding. Read the notes, bro.
  21. The LAST thng Rocket wants in this game is the type of artificial gameplay you suggest. His idea of making tanks and helos "harder" is to actually make them take real skill to fly/drive. As in, "practice". Even with the ArmA 2 base controls, helos are marginally more difficult to use than in most non-flight-simulator games, like Battlefield 3. And I applaud that. But reports indicate that yes, Take On Helicopters will most likely be the basis for helicopter physics and controls in DayZ SA.
  22. FlashHawk4

    heavy weaponry

Good rule to live by. ArmA 2 vets do, in fact, know their shit. You're assuming these hackers know how to operate heavy machinery like this...how many of them have even played ArmA 2, let alone gotten proficient with the Grads?
  23. FlashHawk4

    Different Lighting abilities at Night

No, those are not trip flares. Trip flares are a Soviet concoction designed to, as the book "The Bear Went Over the Mountain: Soviet Combat Tactics in the Soviet-Afghan War" put it, "wake the sleepiest sentry and get everyone's attention." They are, in essence, fireworks on a tripwire. And I mean fireworks. Three colors of rocket flying up into the air with sound effects.
  24. FlashHawk4

    Suggestion: Bird Noises

I suggested this too. Before y'all, but after that Mesolithic human. It's a good concept, but I feel like it would take a lot of coding for a small reward. Just saying.

    Crafting Idea for Standalone

See, this is what the crafting should be focused on. It's something possible in the real world, like the lenses being used as firestarters and all that. Not smelting bullet casings into other types bullet casings. Clearly you have never handloaded, nor seen anyone handload, nor interacted with handloading in any way. I'm sorry, but yeah, this isn't Fallout 3.
