The joke goes, "Click right-trigger to bring you to the in-game purchase screen, to purchase your next bullet for 200 Microsoft points."

    Suggestion: Realism please!

The inability to log out; the need to sleep, poop, piss, and tie one's shoelaces in a world where zombies can charge at any moment like a pack of bloodthirsty Barcelona bulls, and bandits more ruthless than the most soulless of Western desperadoes and Somalian pirates roam the cities and plains, searching for their next hopeless victim; the tortuous feeling of exhaustion that comes with travelling cross-country while lugging around thirty to sixty pounds of dead weight; the anxiety and unimaginable stress of constantly living in a world of the aforementioned undead with the physical abilities of the average Olympic long-distance runner and the sociopathic snipers who blend in to their environment and shoot with not a second of warning; the pain and suffering induced by all manner of injuries and ailments already in the game, from infection to hypothermia; the discomfort and misery caused by remaining outside for long periods of time during a clouded, raining night, soaked to the bone and constantly on edge from the decreased visibility; the knowledge that one probably isn't immune to whatever imperceptible virus or weapon generated the monstrosities all around you; the inability to carry all but the smallest of vehicle parts back to the vehicle in question, and a very small practical understanding of what to do with them once you get them there; and finally, the suicidal tendencies you're likely to develop in a hellish world where about the only thing you're ever holding is something that can end your existence painlessly and instantly. I got your back, Groover.
  3. You're not following. It's not about damage reduction but damage randomness; While multiple rounds will multiply your chance to kill' date=' the damage you deal isn't certain, while a lucky shot from a makarov has a small chance to kill outright or maim in retaliation. Players will be less inclined to murder and loot when there is a small but significant chance of coming off worse than their victim. [/quote'] This game is close to realism. I shoot you in the chest with a 5.45 bullet, it will tumble through your internal organs, rolling and flattening as it shreds your heart, lungs, and everything else your fragile existence needs to continue. I refuse to see a world where that does not hold true. And I always hit the chest or head. I'm a good shot in this game. I refuse to have to shoot someone six times when I killed someone with one shot in the same place. If anything, the arms, legs, lower body, etc. etc. shouldn't be kill-shots, because after all, they're typically not. You'd bleed out painfully, but sometimes you can keep fighting. But if you think toying with the statistics and coding of a game will make its players act completely different, you're wrong. What you're saying is like this: I think that if pawns in chess had to roll dice to determine whether they can take a larger piece, as opposed to the standard diagonal-take system used now, then people would stop playing chess offensively and work together for peace and love.

This is a common idea, and I don't see what the developers have to do with anything. Short of implementing a way to fortify the area to keep zombies out, and coding it to where zombies don't spawn so randomly and evenly, I feel like all of that burden falls on us. We DO NOT need DLC content, what the hell is this, EA Games?
  5. I'd recommend you change the title of this. What you're pitching isn't an "endgame", per se. That word implies "let the credits roll, let the match end, let everyone spawn into a new game." What you're suggesting is more complex gameplay. If anyone has ever heard of Project Zomboid, that's kind of what I'd like to see. A game where you can construct your own fortress, where you can recruit followers, and where, perhaps eventually, you could set up a little community complete with farming, family life, and organized security. The game specifically states you will not live forever. It starts off with "This is how you died," since the gameplay is thematically a flashback. Just like here. You can run to the International Airfield, you can grab a ghillie suit, an M107, a pair of night vision goggles, a Huey, a tent city, and a legion of followers, but you still die somehow, some way. What I say is that we should have more options, turning this from a zombie apocalypse shooter into a more true sandbox. Because you're right, all we have is guns and army gear, so we're naturally going to play at war because that's the toys our parents (developers) have bought us. If we were given more options in terms of gameplay, maybe not like farming or whatever, but even just radio system. I feel like this is what we need. - A unified currency. NOT SAYING the devs need to hand us little gold coins, or bottle caps, or a universally accepted currency of 5.45x39mm bullets. I'm just saying players should work on that. After all, in my opinion, all advancement is based on personal profit, and what kind of profit can we get from teamwork at the moment other than what we find on the ground in the process of doing so? -Clearing out zombies. It seems like you can't permanently kill zombies in a specific area. They always spawn no matter what. I don't know how to implement it so it balances, ie one hand we don't have to leave our homes with M1014s and Makarovs because zombies walk the streets every day, but on the other hand, zombies need to exist in sufficient quantities to menace us and challenge us. -Skill system. Oh God, don't kill me. Just sayin'. ideas like that are what could well turn our existences as scraggly bands of survivors and volatile groupings of desperadoes into thriving settlements and neo-barbarians like modern day Mongols and Huns. And personally, that would be interesting to me.

I Lol'ed. That's just great, and I want to see that in every video game now.

    Graffiti / Markings Spray

I know for a fact that if I got a spraycan, I'd run around putting "IF YOU CAN READ THIS, YOU ARE WITHIN RANGE" everywhere. Just to screw with people. And that's what I love about this game. And you had an original idea! HIGH FIVE! Also, +1. I commend this idea.

    Safe Zone

I say players do it. There really isn't anything that stops a law enforcement approach to this game, except communication, which may or may not be addressed in the near future. As for now, there's stuff like Skype, Ventrilo, Teamspeak, Mumble, etc. etc... I say yes to fortifications, but remember what those look like now...ass hats who put wire in front of every door they want to just because they can. Now imagine that with what you described.

Classes in DayZ (let the shitstorm commence)

Anyone play the game Project Zomboid? I kinda liked their system. It didn't affect what you spawned with, only certain details of your abilities. Policeman was better with guns, construction worker was better at building barricades, night watchman could see better at night and didn't get as groggy in the early morning, etc. etc. There was a skill system that you improved, etc. etc. but still. I personally agree. It's strange that you can do all of these things. And I don't think it would ruin my game if I suddenly found myself unable to repair a helicopter because I'm a carpenter or a paramedic. Honestly, I think items is a bit too straightforward and simplistic. After all, what's the difference between a doctor and a hobo if the doctor's only "skill" is having a bottle of Tylenol in his pocket? I think minor skill preferences would be better, like doubled gutting and chopping speeds for a woodsman, or a small chance of reviving a car with no parts as a mechanic. Maybe some more creative stuff, like "tour guide", who has a better idea of where he is at most times, where he can look at a building and say "I know this place, this is down the street from the plaza and the hospital", represented in-game by a hazy, ethereal "mental map" in the M slot if one doesn't actually have one, and also a marker that appears sometimes on the map if your character sees something he recognizes, like the Chernogorsk fire station or whatever.

Weapon Russianization (WARNING: Big, detailed post)

Hey now, who's fighting? I was just staying the facts, although I'll admit in a rather defensive manner. I hadn't though I'd need to cite sources since it's easy as pie to google 'Winchester 1866' and find out about it, which frodevil clearly didn't bother to do. That's the problem with the Internet nowadays. 80% of all fact-based arguments can be ended in twelve seconds with www.google.com, left-click, [type search phrase], enter, left-click. But amazingly, no one does.

Yet another "How to stop banditry" thread.

You just proposed the perfect way to turn off banditry. Too bad that banditry is an integral part of this game that you have yet to adapt to apparently. It's what stops some people from getting the best gear, and it's also what gets some people their best gear.

Weapon Russianization (WARNING: Big, detailed post)

Boys, boys, stop fighting. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winchester_1866#Winchester_Model_1866 Winchester Model 1866 The original Winchester rifle - the Winchester Model 1866 - was famous for its rugged construction and lever-action mechanism that allowed the rifleman to fire a number of shots before having to reload: hence the term "repeating rifle." Nelson King's new improved patent remedied flaws in the Henry rifle by incorporating a loading gate on the side of the frame and integrating a round sealed magazine which was covered by a fore stock. Originally chambered in the rimfire .44 Henry, the Model 1866 was nicknamed the "Yellow Boy" because of its receiver of a bronze alloy called gunmetal. Cite evidence next time somebody throws a fit, it's WAY more effective.
  15. I say crowbars would be better. That way even a hatchet would be a step up, but you could still kill that ONE zombie that chases you, that you can't do anything about. Even a "trip zombie and GTFO before he stands up" button would be appreciated.
  16. FlashHawk4

    My Tweak/Idea's thread.

I believe there is a "Study Body" button that provides a cause of death. I do agree with you on some of the other things, fairly small, but true. Especially that one about zombie animations. But I think they're working on it already, the game's still working on polishing.

Weapon Russianization (WARNING: Big, detailed post)

You have all forgotten the glorious SKS carbine...why the hell would you put in the collectors' gun, the SVT-40, when the "poor man's deer rifle", the SKS, is one of the most common Warsaw Pact weapons in the world? They're practically identical output-wise, semi-automatic rifles that both fire similarly sized rounds. I own one. My friend owns one. They're everywhere. And that's in America. Think about in Eastern Europe. Also, I agree. Why would you replace common weapons with super-rare, even prototype weapons, just because they're Russian. I know for a fact that a number of Russian SWAT and special operations teams use MP5s, for example. It's because it's a damn fine gun. And it serves a different purpose than the PP-2000, which is designed as an armor piercing PDW similar to the MP7 or P90. That's why it uses a +P+ cartridge that nothing else uses. Same thing with the Korobov weapon. They DO use M4s and whatnot. Just because a gun was designed in a certain nation means its used exclusively in that nation. Hell, quite a few of our military's guns were designed in Europe. The MP5, the Beretta 92F, the FN MAG and FN Minimi (thought the M240 and M249 where as American as mom and apple pie? Think again), etc. etc. For example, Russia's elite counter-terrorist unit Alfa Group (compare to: Delta Force) uses British AWMs instead of SV-98s. Why? Because they prefer them. A lot of the spawns and weapons are a bit weird to me...why does a top of the line M4A3 CCO spawn in a deer stand, while the ultra-common, worldwide, and occasionally called outdated (BLASPHEMY) FN FAL spawn only in a crashed special forces helicopter? As I've said before, a number of these weapons are a bit out of place. But Rocket doesn't have to go out of his way to code some Russian ones in, PKMS, RPKs, SVDs, RPGs, etc. etc already exist in the base code of ArmA 2. Why would he prefer CoDdy guns to ones like that?
  18. My attitude is this: Sniping is unfair. Extremely unfair. But that's what war is. It's not a duel in the modern world. People don't go around designing weak points in tank armor "for the love of the game". They try to figure out the best way possible to increase their asskicking abilities without getting their own asses kicked. Snipers are soldiers' worst fears. They can be shot at any time, from anywhere, even where they think they're safe. You don't know where he is, you don't know where to shoot, you don't know what to do. But they don't get to complain, they have to deal with the sniper then and there. Soldiers have procedures to deal with snipers when they fire, and how to make themselves less appealing targets. When in urban areas, they cling to walls and stay low. They don't move in straight lines when they cross open areas. They have patrols, searches, air support, and countersnipers. Why can't you do those things? There's nothing stopping you from organizing them. Maybe that should be your longstanding goal. Instead of mindlessly pulling beans and bullet from the ruins of society, plan ahead, and pick a goal. Mine is to acquire a helicopter and set up a base camp. Yours can be to set up a group to hunt them down. Go watch some documentaries or something. Learn, don't complain.

    Consumable fluids etc

I was practically sure you meant Bear Gryllsing it when I saw the title. Anyway, I have wondered why we don't get to fill whiskey bottles and whatnot. It's a bit strange, but I personally feel this is a bit too nitpicking to be a major issue. I feel like the time spent developing this could be more useful elsewhere, no offense.

    Start out

I would like a crowbar when I start. No need for guns, I find those quickly.
  21. This is pretty funny. Why not add in a "surprise" factor...when your poopometer is getting full, you void your bowels when startled, the smell of which attracts more zombies until you change pants. And then, in airbases, you can find cosmonaut diapers to eliminate this problem! Brilliant!
  22. I'm sure most of you have experienced the misery of the broken bone condition, and how hard it is to escape from. If you're in the rough middle of a play through, you're armed fairly well, with enough bandages, food, etc. to take care of yourself. But then, alas, your leg snaps like a twig as you slip off the ladder of a deer stand. Now you're alone in the world, unable to so much as walk upright. You need morphine, but where is it? It's probably in the next city over, kilometers away. You're attached to your gear, you might have an automatic weapon or even helicopter parts. I'm not saying we take it out of the game, I thin it's a nice touch of realism. I just have a few suggestions so you don't seriously feel tempted to give up as soon as you see the white silhouette of doom. 1. Make crawling through doorways more functional. Players have a hard time getting through them prone, and even more so when handicapped. 2. Temporary splints. While it wouldn't cure you, it would give you that little boost to help you to a hospital or a friend. Sprinting would be out of the question, and perhaps the player could be in a constant state of pain as he or she walked/crouched, which painkillers wouldn't quite defeat. Perhaps the bone could slip and puncture the skin, known in the medical world as a compound fracture. This would cause the player to bleed every now and then, meaning they need to use bandages perhaps once every fifteen minutes or so. If you feel generous, you could even allow a splinted bone to set on its own after a while, just like how bleeding occasionally stops on its own. 3. Different kinds of breaks. So far, it appears you can only break your femur. Of course, we all know there are many different types of bone related injuries. Perhaps sometimes you could break your arm, making tasks like aiming, driving, harvesting wood, gutting animals, more difficult and more painful. Perhaps you could injure your ankle instead of your whole leg, which would only inhibit sprinting, climbing fences, etc. 4. Supporting oneself with the environment or another player. I'm not a coder, but I think the first solution might be a pretty big task...leaning against a table or a fence to drag oneself along, or letting a buddy help you like a crutch. Maybe actual crutches or wheelchairs, that would be kinda funny. 5. More medical drops in game. We have military helicopter crashes, why not MEDIVAC crashes as well? For that matter, why not create crashed ambulances on the roads and clinics in smaller towns? I guarantee you, people in towns like Mogilevka or Staryoe didn't go all the way to a city for treatment of regular illnesses, after all...I think the scarcity of medical supplies is kinda cool, but perhaps three or four small clinics that only spawn two or three piles of loot wouldn't hurt too badly. And since only a handful of players actually locate military chopper crashes, adding in an additional medical helicopter or two wouldn't hurt. While we're at it, why not throw in police cars and whatnot as loot on the roads? Perhaps old battle sites from when the authorities were resisting the epidemic? Just saying'. But I digress. In my opinion, the worst thing that can happen to a player is a broken leg. Perhaps infection may be worse, but I couldn't say, I've never had one not have any of my friends. I think we could be a little more merciful...after all, in my opinion, the majority of the gameplay comes from fighting and finding, not crawling and complaining...
  23. FlashHawk4

    Making broken legs less...ruinous?

Ok, I skimmed that list earlier and saw the thing about the legs, and barely even noted it. I'd rather see more ways to hadle a broken leg than simply reducing its frequency. Because now it'll be even more dangerous when it does happen, since people won't assign as much value to morphine anymore.
