    Firing from vehicles

In some ex Soviet states, police organizations occasionally DO have some vehicles mounted with machine guns in the rear. And I love how the military left their guns and ammo scattered all over the place, but systematically managed to airlift or sabotage every single one of their armed vehicles. I have a feeling it would be difficult to do this scripting-wise, but I'm not a coder so I wouldn't know. I don't see why they can't simply work on making a way to be contained inside the cab of the vehicle, and move with it, while still being considered on foot for certain things like shooting, bandaging, etc. etc. But I'm not a coder, so don't take anything I say as anything anywhere near accurate.

Pistol spawn for '0 Murder' players

You get shot on sight... it's hard to not be seen when you need to go into hotspots that everyone is watching... No' date=' you don't get shot on sight. If you can't survive in the major cities as everyone apparently shoots on sight, go in-land, it really is not hard. [/quote'] I guarantee you that a lot of your so called "bandits" on the coast are really just jumpy noobs who just found a gun, and don't even own a microphone so they can't or won't call "Friendly". Everyone assumes they were always shot by "bandits", but a majority of professional bandits have MUCH better things to do with their time than shoot everyone with a can of pasta and a crowbar.

    House Fortification

They made wire fences and hedgehogs work, didn't they? It's sort of similar. And it could just be an action for zombies to tear at the boards, with a set timer for completion like when we put on a bandage or whatever.

    House Fortification

If you watch closely, you can see a few traces of ArmA NPC AI in the zombies, like what you just mentioned, and how they also react to nonlethal hits. They might yell and hoot all zombie-like, but if you shoot them with a Makarov or something, they sometimes make the human "oompf" or "aaagh" sounds. But yes, I think they'll work on that in the future. It is an alpha, after all.
  5. It seems like they have a rudimentary melee implemented though, otherwise how do the hatchets and crowbars work? It seems like they might be firing bullets in the engine, but I feel that if Rocket and crew decides this is one of the things to be worked on in the future, I'm sure they can come up with something.

    helicopter in dayz?

What do you mean dangerous to fly, exactly? Is the mod having problems with them? Because I can fly them pretty well in ArmA.

    spawned in novy sobor. bug?

I have too. Red building, under the floor. I filed a bug report but I don't know if it's been approved or not.

    Scarier Zombies/Other Mods

I agree. I've always taught my friends that "93% of all zombies spawn within 100 yards of a road", and of course even though I made that number up, it's still true. And I would like to see more of those nice touches you talked about. I've seen about one of those, where the military clearly made a last stand around a certain building in Chernogorsk. Of course it had no gameplay connotations, because it had no military loot, but it was still kind of cool to see.

+1 for that too. On the condition that after a while, the obligatory "zombie hand crashes through door right next to your character's head" thing happens. You can't hold out forever.

    Ambience/Sounds/Footsteps

Soldiers on patrol in woodland/jungle environments learn to dentist suspicious sounds, and also the lack of, in their environment. In survival schools during the Vietnam War, soldiers were often taught to listen for a lack of birdsongs and general noises and movement. Animals only do this when they feel safe, and they tend to run and hide when twenty or thirty VC were sitting on the sides of the path with guns and mines. I know it would be a monumental task for the devs to pull off, but that would be damn cool. And no, I know exactly what gate sound you mean. I have my music off, and it still happens.

    Underground Military Complex

Remember you need SOME source of light for NVGs to work properly. They only amplify existing light, not see in total darkness. So if the lights are out, and you were underground, you'd really have to risk the light sources in these cramped labyrinths, and exploring these abandoned labs and missile bases by the light of sparking red road flares is about the creepiest-coolest thing I can imagine.
  12. I don't think there should be a way to "win" Day Z. I like the radio idea, but I feel like it should be used for something other than "Congratulations, You Win!" Perhaps to actually communicate with other players, to request supplies air dropped to you (it seems to me that everyone else wants to STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM CHERNARUS, but maybe an air drop would be okay), or discuss with the government-in-exile the locations of their military stockpiles, etc etc. I'm highly opposed to a "ding ding ding, you're safe!" ending. This is, after all, a sandbox game. There's no ending, and I think it should stay like that. Instead of working to escape, our high-levelled (for lack of a better word) players should work on expanding their influence and creating institutions, be they military, social and civilized, or ganglike. To quote Cleveland Brown, "You never win, but you do a little better each time."

    Spawn Killing

Nah' date=' bad idea. Just find safer places to log-out, don't log-out in groups, spread out and go prone in the bushes then regroup. [/quote'] What exactly would being invincible for the first sixty seconds of your character's life accomplish? I don't know if this is a common problem, but I've never been killed while I was ACTUALLY on the beach. And when you're one minute old, you don't have anything you'll actually miss, I highly doubt you're going to find a Lee Enfield, a morphine injector, and an ALICE pack, and then get shot, within one minute of spawning.

    Ghillie Suits Protect Against Thermal

Perhaps. You know, that' one of the things that some people don't know about the modern combat uniforms militaries wear today, is that it also seeks to break up thermal and infrared visibility in addition to visual identification. Perhaps extend that to camo clothing. Of course, they woulsn't be completely invisible. This isn't call of duty, after all. It would just make it less pronounced.

    House Fortification

I think that this could be the reason that makes crowbars actually useful in-game. A semi-silent way to remove boards and stuff from doors, without permanently destroying the actual materials used to build the barricade. And yes, I think the next logical step after removing the clip-through-walls bug (yes people, it IS a bug, I don't understand why some people actually think zombies walking through walls is a game feature, but a few actually do), would be this. +1. It would add the ability to make a more permanent home base, make safe houses and waystations, add another item to search for in game, add value to th crowbar, and generally encourage settling down, which is a prerequisite for socialesque (I maed a word lol) behavior. As one can see from the ancient Sumerians and whatnot.

    Remove the radar from helicopters

I believe the devs are considering this ready, and I don't see how hard it would be to removed. Even if the actual game mechanic is hard to remove from the mod, it would probably be as simple as removing the actual UI representation from the screen.

    Some simple suggestions

Are we saying no ghillies? Because there are ghillie suits in te game, just to make sure you guys know. I might just be misunderstanding. I would LOVE to see magazines separate from bullets. Think about it. It would add some value bak to the clip-optional weapons like the Lee-Enfield, the revolver, the 1866, etc etc. While these guys with the fancy M16s with ACOGs and grenade launchers have to scurry around reloading mags after every firefight, others could snicker and slip one bullet at a time into their Enfield's magazine, or slide a few rounds onto a stripper clip and call it a day. And it would really encourage a damn fine economy. That was my problem with a Day Z bullet based economy, just like using gold ingots in Minecraft: it's so deflated that you sometimes can't even split your lowest level of currency to suit the transaction. Perhaps 2 round slug and pellet for a can of beans or whatever, but still. There aren't a lot of things here that would be worth a whole magazine of 5.45 rounds, in my opinion.

    add vss to the game

Not adding / removing them doesn't have a purpose either. I like there being more than just "pistol", "shotgun", "rifle", and "car" in this game. It adds depth, adds challenge because of the difficulty in finding ammo (that's why I own all NATO ammunition type weapons, because when the fan gets hit 7.62 will be more common than .300 Winchester Magnum Or .276 Whateversby any day). VSS ammo, 9x39mm (right?) IS extremely rare. I'm not aware of any other weapon in the world that fires it. Thus, it would make a nice Heli site weapon. They assume it would unbalance the game? Wha about the FAL with starlight scope? It lets you SEE AND SHOOT ACCURATELY IN PITCH DARKNESS.That seems like it would unbalance the game hundreds of times more than a little suppressed marksman's rifle, that would spawn with an equivalent rarity, and yet it doesn't.

    Adding SUVs?

It IS shiny and pretty. And if the put in spry paint, we should be able to put a logo or a name on the front doors.

    Reusing dirty bandages?

In the medical world, having fresh bandages is one of the most fundamental and most important rules of all. But what if you don't? You're in a survival situation. You're bleeding profusely, and you'll die in about three minutes if you don't find a bandage to stop it. You had one on a few hours ago, but you chose to throw it away. It was your last one. Now, this might strike you as a bit of an uneccesary feature- I mean, you must have at least three in your inventory right now, right? The individual I'm looking at for this would be the newer player- the one who just happened to find a piece of rare loot early on, say a Czech backpack or a good gun. He's been playing long enough to stock up on some things, but not others, like bandages. Why would he have to bleed out or fight zombies while frantically searching every corner for a little strip of prepackaged gauze when he could just reuse the nasty, bloody one from yesterday? Now, obviously this is bad for your health. To make it so in-game, I propose we make it not as effective- either only partially stopping the bleeding, or a chance of coming off or bleeding through in a few minutes. But the main reason you want a clean bandage is the risk of infection...this game already has infection, does it not? That could be the primary reason why it would be a last resort. Perhaps a 20% chance of infection every time you use a dirty bandage, as opposed to the short-term risk of bleeding out. These could spawn somewhat in the world, making bandages slightly more rare (not even moderately more rare, put down the pointy sticks y'all), and they could have a 50% or so chance of being produced when the player uses a bandage. After all, some bandages become so bloodsoaked that they're practically saturated and thus practically useless. If the veterans don't like them, they can toss them out, just like empty cans or whiskey bottles. I know that if I were gushing blood as badly as the guys do in-game, I'd try to stop it with SOMETHING. Damn the infection if I'm going to bleed to death in the next twelve and a half minutes otherwise.

    Suggestion: Slenderman!

There's already a Slender Man video game. Go play it. You'll die of fear.
  22. FlashHawk4

    Reusing dirty bandages?

Bump? Come on, at the very least it's an original idea.

    Soda can textures and camoflauge

The easy answer: Because the camo and ghillie were only meant as PvP bonuses. The technical answer: It's probably too hard (or impossible) to program the zombie AI to see you better or worse based on your clothing. So even if it's possible' date=' probably not worth the effort when there are actual issues to fix. [/quote'] Would be easier than you think. The system would simply calculate if you have a camo on, if you do then it would adjust your ear and eye symbol accordingly. I think he meant based on the surface you're on, like highway vs/ forest floor. Also, I'd love to see Russian labeled products. My friends always pester me about why Coke and Pepsi are in English.

    Writing Recognisation

+1. I think that would be a nice idea, or maybe even hotkey. But then I'd be worried about people running around and spamming it like the horns in Halo and Battlefield games. That would be enough to drive ME to shoot them, anyway, and I'm usually the kind of guy who'll hand a noob my hatchet if I have a gun.
