Just learn the map! Where cities are, where good items are, just explore the map at the start man. Learn that thing like its your back yard. Also dont be scared to check some youtube videos, tips,etc.. What I find to work well is when I spawn down south I will stay there ONLY until I find a gun and enough food/drink to get up north a little. Balota and Cherno are not bad places to check out when you are starting off because if you die you dont lose anything and there is enough in those two places to get you started with a gun and some supplies. As soon as you have a gun and a few more things head up north! Explore! Also practice going very slow in cities, playing it very stealth until you get a few things. And last but not least... SHOOT FIRST AGAINST HUMANS!! If they dont ask you "FRIEND OR ENEMY?" they most likely will shoot you, so dont be scared to play a little defensive to survive! Good luck!

We just fixed up our Blue Hippy van last night. He ahd been using it for a few days, alot of driving across teh dayz map with it, butlast night we had 3 messed up tires, engine,etc... my buddy actually fixed all the parts on his own before we could make it up north to him, was amazing! I had never seen someoen find all those parts within an hour or so. The van had broken down in the middle of a city, few hours later we all met up there and finished fixing it. SOOO glad no one went through the town last night (:

Hellow fellow Ultima Online fan :D I was just telling my friend that DAYZ is the first online game since Ultima Online to get me this hooked. Also you get the same feeling in both games when you die and all your stuff is gone!

You are wrong... the 4 towers almost always have stuff. Its good to go there and then get out fast after you check all 4 of hte towers. Usually nothing anywhere else there, but always check the towers! This is actually one of my fav places to go right after I die! Because I ALWAYS get atleast an AK or a shotgun there to start off!

I use to be super chill and helping all human players. But sure enough after me and a friend saved 8/9 players, one of them turned on us. Many more times like that, now I am alot more protective, I will shoot anyone I see now unless they answer my "FRIENDLY" chat that I say when I see people. Sometimes I will see people and just hide though and let them on there way. But if you are right behind me creeping behind me with a gun out and I dont know you (and you didnt type or say anything) then I will shoot. A few times I have felt bad with some of the kills, but its just the way it is to survive atm. It had gotta a bit mroe common to get shot now and after all the crazy stuff ive experienced I am nto as nice as I once was to random humans (: Anyways, I think this is how this would be in real life if something like this happens. Some people would want to help others, and some would want to hurt others. Love the game (:

I got crushed by a bridge, killed by a door, killed from a 2 foot fall in a barn, RAN over by my friend who just walked into the side of me,etc.. But I still always end up coming back and having a blast. If you are gone for good then thats to bad, but I have a feeling you will be back (; Ive beeen pissed because of that kind of thing before but then I end up having a blast startign again from scratch.

Why not make it a 10 second wait from when you press exit? Then if someone is shooting at you they have a chance to finish you. Just have to make sure the backpack would stay they once they logged off. I have to admit that I feel the worst about one situation where I was about to log off and I saw someone ahead of me 200 feet ahead, I asked him if he was survivor, he did not answer and he looked around and pulled his gun out. He started to walk the opposite direction as me. So I asked him one last time before I logged off "Are you surivor? I can see you, please answer". He started to walk away again so I pressed ESC and went to press exit, right when I hit it, I heard a gunshot. I was curious what happened? The guy was walking in the opposite direction when i pressed exit. So I started up the game again to see what happened, but I was dead. I think someone had been higher up the mountain side or a friedn of this guy I was chatting with and shot me from behind as i was leaving. I joined back into the server and I was dead. I did not intentionally just leave the game in the middle of a fireifght, I had not heard a gunshot until i pressed exit but I still felt bad beacuse I was not sure if my body was there for him to take the spot or not. I have never just left while in a big fight with another person as it has happened against me a few times when I have been shooting at someone and they leave and it sucks. Still part of me felt really bad if that guy didn't get my stuff like he deserved, who ever he was (i did not see him as it wasn't the person 200 feet in front of me).

It was worse with the bandit skin. I am not a bandit, but I prefer the "IM NOT SURE IF HES A BANDIT OR NOT" aspect with how it is now when I see someone.

Game is amazing already, its crazy how many different experiences you can have in this. Over the months since its been out I have seen so many crazy things that now its alot more scary, even though I am better and more skilled at the game then i was before. I have had a crap load of bugs that have been annoying but I keep coming back time and time again. In most game I would be pissed with some of tehse bugs, but this game has so many positives and I am just hooked on it atm. The Dayz devs have really done something amazing here (;

Great idea! I think they should take a look at how Project Zomboid does its crafting. Add somethings like that, its done really well.

Yes, I went to join a game today and I was dead. Last night I logged off and was 100% ok.

I have been able to connect to two servers out of about 40 ive tried. I also died some how, when last night I logged off I was safe in the bush.

Bad luck. I have been playing since dayz came out and the first 8 or 9 people I met actually where very helpful and nice. But the next 4 I met killed me. Its honestly been back and forth since the game has been out for me but... the last month I noticed there is def more bandits. This actually makes me feel more scared and nervous as I play so thats somewhat a good thing. I am definatly more aggressive now these days then I was before as I have seen alot of crazy things now. I suggest to either shoot first or try to get more friends to play with, playing with 2-3 people that you trust is honestly the best combination with going stealthy on your own. Anyways, good luck and stick with it! Sometimes I go weeks without doing well or seeing anyone and then some nights I end up seeing TONS haha. One thing I like about this game is there is so many experiences. This one time me and a friend helped two groups of survivors when the game first came out. There was 10 of us after saving them all and sure enough ONE of them shoots me in the back after I had helped save him and all the others. That kind of changed the way I react in the game. Now I will ask once or twice if they are a survivor, if they dont answer or pull out there gun adn start looking around then I will shoot them, been on the wrong end to many times so now I am a bit more agressive. Anyways, we have a good little group together I game with sometimes, all are very friendly and mature, msg me if you want to play sometime. I am about even to be honest though overall for my Deaths between Zombies, Humans and glitches/my fault. Just sometimes it goes in cycles... one month Ill get killed alot by players, the next month ill have a great experience with other players.

I love this game so much, even with some of the silly bugs ive experienced. Worst would be these 4: - I logged off the other night and then came back hour or so later and I had fallen through the floor and was on top of a Barbed Wire. - I was way up north and found a farm... I was going down the stairs and I fell from about 1-2 feet and I broke my bone. Was all out of morphene, had tons of the things I wanted. - A door closed on me and killed me in this house once haha - I logged back into Dayz to hop on this server a friend was on, needless to say when the game loaded I was in that neverending desert area and not only that but ALL my stuff was gone! Anyways, this game rules, I have not been this addicted to a game in years. I am almost embarresed with how much I have played this game the last 3 days.

Just wanted to make an account finally and say thanks for such an awesome experience. Its kind of funny to me that DayZ and another zombie game in Alpha state called Project Zomboid are soooo much more enjoyable to me then the other zombie games on the market. I could sit here and type all the things I love about it but I will keep it short and just say this: Keep doing what you are doing! Sure there is some issues, but that is always expected with Alpha builds. What is here right now is fantastic and can ONLY get better in the future. Keep up the great work! I don't think I will ever forget some of the experiences ive had in Dayz since its been it, some truely unique things can happen that really stick with you.

Beeen working great for me since the other week when I installed the beta patch, but now a few minutes ago I went to join a new server and I spawned in this desert with no trees crap! All my items gone to ):

This happened to me few weeks ago and downloading the latest beta patch for arma2 worked. It had been runngin awesome since then and today I have played 4-5 hours but now when I went to join a new server I started in the desert again with no trees,etc.. and all my gear is GONE! Love this game so much, but argh this sucks haha

This just happened to me right now. I have been playing all day ok, I went to join another server and then it spawned me in the never ending desert. I have the beta patch,etc... and its been runnign great the last while, until right now ): All my stuff is now dissapeared to ):
