Why all the suggestions about adding rules and directions?
The Killing Joke replied to Lady Kyrah's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Are you "Felix the Bandit", who's making the vids on YouTube? If so, love your work! (What song did you use in your first teaser?) TKJ -
True. It is a game. It could, of course, be better, given the proper fair balance. Kudos to Rocket for making a game I haven't been this passionate about since EvE. TKJ

Here is the issue: those who are evil, I mean, really, really evil, are being descriminated against. They have to wear a different skin, and that isn't fair. Pure and simple. You who are good have EXACTLY THE SAME SKILLS, but without the disadvantage. Like it or not, that is the issue. TKJ

I lol'd. Seriously. Have a +1 rep! TKJ

Why is this a problem? You shouldn't be force to sit at the back of the bus just because of the way you look. TKJ

What if corpses of player characters reanimated after a certain amount of time? Given that you have the ability to defend your friends' dead body until they can return to grab their stuff (a definite perk, but unrealistic) what if we had a 30 minute timer, and then the bodies 'got back up' and added to the zombie count? I can tell you this - I would be FREAKED OUT if I was defending a friends' corpse, only to have it sit up and start ATTACKING ME after a while! TKJ

The Horde ( in-game story)
The Killing Joke replied to Majora (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
AMAZING STORY. I read through the first few paragraphs, and thought, "I'm going make this funny, and type in '...and then he shot me in the back!'..." It's awesome that there was such a level of immersion as to let this happen. I can only imagine you would have limited ammo left, and the one answer to your entire existence was for him to shoot you for very, very little. Thank you for your story. It was, of course, awesome. For my own personal credo, read my sig, below. It just might save your life. TKJ -
My only complaint about zombies is their confusing nature. I see them run, this way and that way, giving everybody a challenging target, yes, but zombies don't really DO THAT. They certainly don't start running, stop, look around, look back and start running in a zig zag pattern. They are hungry, and want to feed. They should, for whatever reason, beeline to you once you've been spotted. I also agree that when they're inside a building, they should have similar mechanics. Slow them down by throwing obstacles in their path, or make them confused by stairs. Don't force them to walk, if they're hungry! Stop the senseless and unfair zombie predjudice now! :) TKJ

Knights of the Apocalypse Australian Clan

What if you're a Canadian and work shift work, hmm? I know quite a few people who play during the upside-down timezone, and sleep through the day here. ;) TKJ -

Ahh, gotcha! Sorry, I misunderstood. (All the more reason to do away with the bandit skins altogether!) ;) TKJ -
Regardless of the gameplay mechanics, this man has it right. PvP survival of the fittest, my friend. TKJ

I'm sorry that you feel the need to hate on those who play differently, as we are all equals. Your ideas to further degrade a section of yhe player base is not appreciated. TKJ -
The perfect bandit skin is no skin at all. HIDE IN PLAIN SIGHT! Stop bandit predjudice now! TKJ

Good luck, Stallownage! This looks like an awesome opportunity! TKJ

Suggestions to solve the biggest issues
The Killing Joke replied to super pretendo's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
A) The main idea of the game is not 'gathering stuff', it is 'surviving'. B) If the spawning idea is fair to all, make it random for all players. (And, I would also ask that you refrain from attacking people's opinions with comments about being 'delusional'.) What you could call 'karma', one could say that your personal attacker could be rewarded for playing the game more successfully than you. TKJ -
Suggestions to solve the biggest issues

Here's the problem. You cannot (CAN NOT) unfairly assign poor attributes to a single player group. It can't be done. Why? You will lose a section of your player base. From a developer's standpoint, that's money. (Sure, this mod is free, but that is beside the point.) For example, the idea of giving 'karma' is an unfairly placed disadvantage. Let's say you're playing the game, and you're attacked by three bandits. They attack, and they SUCK. You kill every single one of them in self defense. You say, "whew!" when out of the blue comes a zombie horde, who heard the commotion. You die, and you respawn, in a bandit rich spawn, lighter on food and lighter on supplies. Fair? I'd say no. Great care must be taken to keep the game fair. You are right in some regard. The game could be overrun by COD deathmatch-minded players. But, chances are, they're going to enjoy their COD more. Beyond that, consider that part of the gameplay is WORKING AROUND them. Believe you me, it makes them just as angry as you, when you sneak up on them and take them out, or avert their 'trap' completely. You'll grow. I'll grow. We will all grow to get beyond this challenge. It just takes a bit of time and patience. During that time, however, you should not look at giving any unfair advantage to ANY side. Bandits do NOT have any advantage that YOU do not already have. If their morals or reasons for gameplay are different, that is outside of the game, not in it. TKJ -
I say scrap them. It is not fair to have a model which distinguishes someone as a player killer, especially given that you could be switched to this model when defending yourself against one. TKJ
