The Killing Joke

There are two trains of thought on this. 1) Yes, talking with people on TS adds a level of deception, because joining a clan/group does make the people you game with automatically trust you more, because there is a more personal connection. 2) Where does the line get drawn? If it happened in in-game chat, it might be handled differently. Outside, maybe. Personally, if this happened to me, I might laugh it off, or else I might get angry and vow to be more vigilant in regards to those I game with. Either way, if it's part of the game, then it's 'lessons learned', move on. I don't agree with CoolNitro's post regarding what else could happen, nor MasterCaution's repost - not in the thought, but in the content. I would strongly urge you guys to edit your posts, as you're giving others a roadmap - or at least an idea. As we all know, it has happened before. TKJ

Let's say you see one, and kill it. Let's say you see another, and kill it too. Let's say you kill a whole whopping heap of them, and now, you get turned into one. Is that ok with you? That is the current way it's possible. What you see isn't necessarily what you get. TKJ

Check with the mods to make sure this isn't in the realm of hacking or bannable offenses. If they get a report of this, it may be misunderstood. TKJ

Make sure you make your intentions known! Imagine what happens when you come across a rival group of bandit sniper-hunters! OMG, everybody has a bandit skin! They're all evil, get them! TKJ p.s. I'm trying to be less conspicuous about my intentions to lose the morality system. (Working? Y/N)

There's actually an idea I had last night. I was able to see what was going on around my body (albeit, upside-frickin-down!) and I noticed three or four survivors being chased by zeds. I immediately thought, "OH! Maybe they'll loot my body, and that will do something!" And then I thought, "No, they'd have to shoot me to 'really' kill me. Damn." If you have friends who you can communicate your position, see if one of them might be able to put a few bullets into your non-corpse. If that works, this may be a solution for you! Good luck. TKJ

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED! I can't WAIT to hear the story of the guy who gets in on someone's TS server by invite' date=' and then turns on the entire party. That's ridiculous, and sadly, something that's nigh impossible to fight at the moment. This has been noted ad nauseum, but we do need a way to police this. If there was some way of identifying the attacker, then at the very least, we could come online and request a ban. I'm sure it's only temporary, so don't get too discouraged! TKJ

Can I ask a favour? Is there a way to put "Seattle" somewhere in your Server Name? I ask, because you're three hours behind my location, and probably the only viable option for me to see a shred of daylight during my play time. TKJ

I haven't. I have never needed to. I would, however, caution against trying it before finding out from a Dev or Rocket himself on any possible repercussions. I'd hate to see anyone get the banhammer for this. That being said, if your brother doesn't already have the game, I'd get him to buy it, or buy it for him. It's so worth the money. TKJ

The way you've worded it, it cannot be done. In layman's terms, two people cannot be logged into Steam at the same time, but some games downloaded from Steam do allow you to play them without being logged in to Steam. That being said, I have Steam installed on my gaming rig, and on my laptop, and DayZ works fine, provided I'm only logged into one or the other. Clear? TKJ

These are words to live by, my friends. :D I have already succumbed to someone shooting me while I stared at amazement the first (and only) rifle drop, fully illuminated by my flare not five feet away, and to another while catching my breath after killing four zeds. TKJ

AH! You made me think of something. If you DIE in-game, DO NOT CLICK RESPAWN. I'm sure this is what happened to me, causing me to see the whole "Hourglass Bug" thing. (Basically, I respawned as 'unconscious', and then had to wait 10-15 minutes to die again, unable to talk, or even exit the game.) Hope this helps somebody! TKJ

Ok, here's what happened to me. I don't know if the mods had anything to do with the fix, but I sat (and sat and sat and sat and sat and sat and sat and sat and sat) for about 10-15 minutes, watching the hourglass not move. Then, all of a sudden, the "You are Dead!" screen hit me, and I was able to exit all of the way out of the game. I restarted, rejoined a server and bam, back to unconcious mode. I tried exactly the same thing again (sitting, deadscreen, restarting) and lo and behold, I rejoined and seemed to respawn. I can't explain it, but it worked that time. Hope it helps someone out of their predicament, as I see a lot of the "this happened to me" threads, with nobody coming back to say how they fixed it. TKJ
