DayZ standalone will use Real Virtuality 4 engine!
DinDae replied to oZiix's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Na probably not the mod, but the stand alone will hopefully get past it, they will however add more stuff to the mod at least to the real alpha of the game is released, because the work spent here can be integrated with the new game. But when people can start buying the standalone I think the mod has fulfilled its purpose and will fade away. -
Well this is pretty straight forward. If you play solo you don’t have much use for them, possibly having one in inventory just in case you meet a friendly soul to help you out. But they are more a co-op driven item and there for you got a group of peoples inventories to consider. I think giving the player 100% blood while using one is to strong. I think a fixed number e.g. ~3-6k (I’ll leave the number to the discussion) something would be better, and make it more interesting. So you have to use more, if you got a more major injury than a zombie flesh wound. Because raiding a hospital right now is a damn vampires wet dream, considering how much blood there are in every pack. And all opinions are welcomed, though I prefer an argument instead of a blank NO/nope. Regards!

Valid point, but this is more a group situation, therefore more people to feed.

You can get blood from eating( 200 ), so go to a supermarket or hunt animals.

Well, imo they do night time less interesting. Be good manner and give me your thoughts :) Regards

Thanks for all the replies :) Well, maybe it’s only me who thinks the game become too easy when you get em. I would like to see night pvp with distracting flares and using the darkness as a protection instead of playing like you do on the day, cuddle up at the forest lines. Really nobody, even willing to give it a thought? Thanks anyway

Craziest stuff you've done?
DinDae replied to Sterling (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Standing on building roofs throwing flares at sneaking players in elekto, having them aggroing infected in the dark. Most hilarious are when they scream on direct comm. -
So my question is, can you change or alter static data with the arma modding tool. e.g change or replace buildings, I expect you can't base on the LOD structure, but if anyone knows? :) Thank you.

Rocket said he was working on dog followers, which i do not approve.

Wow-style Quality comes first, so I’m willing to pay per month if the “new born company” can maintain high quality servers (and yes only them standing for the servers), with no abuse and clans camps and loots stayed intact. So players can be guaranteed their time spent weren’t in vain. Both Though keep the all code and scripting to the studio, and take advantage of the good/bad ideas the community gives about design choices etc. And maybe have the community to create a bunch of houses you can visit.

Zombies are overpowered since patch 1.7.2 (Video as proof)

Unrealistic zombies? They aren't even zombies, and for the pathing we'll have to wait until the mod has been recognized as a standalone game so they can change to more proper pathing algorithm. Remember it's just a mod, modified in a very restricted tool.

Well I know the bandit-morphing is a Work in Progress and have been removed for further notice. But I do not like how the game and the social commitment in the game have turned out after the removal. I have read that people thinks morphing to another outfit is unrealistic and it was good being removed, and now everybody shoots everybody without questions. I do found that very sad, because sneaking around or shooting zombies aren't any hard, decide if another player is friend or foe isn't any hard longer either because all are foe.(not all but why risk it when killing other players are easy and you have nothing to lose on it). That’s my point, people say you shouldn't probably react that way in real life you should work together and survive, and of course some would be pirates but all would need companions(and NOT only irl friends). But this is a game; it isn't real life so people play it like any other fps. So the game has to guide the players to a realistic situation (see what I coming at?) We need the skins as a social conversation starter. Because even in real life even if you intend to shoot the other person you would probably observe him first, and see if he draws his weapon. But here there are always drawn, because it’s a game. So I believe that bandit morphing is a great idea, because it will cause players to make a choice. And a karma system (morale whatever) isn't a great idea to balance the bandit-morphing. If you haven't murdered since say (taken from the air) 8-10 played time, you morph-back to a survival, because then you have most likely played as a survival. And that’s what I call a choice, murder for a bandage and be hard to trust for about 10hours or give the man some beans and travel together or go apart. I do like finding and changing outfits in the world. But bandits shouldn’t take part of it at least until they got their own models on that outfit. I did find it amusing the first times I lured people that I was friendly, but there has to be a punishment for shooting other player, so not every interaction with other players will be the same, shoot to kill. Then you can just add players who shoot first or something turns bandit, survivors shooting bandit don’t turn bandit etc. Bunch of stuff for the system, if you took part in a murder(bit tricky to implement but you get the idea) And just you have different skins doesn’t mean you know the other persons agenda, but you most likely have a better chance finding out with ask first shoot later, than it is now. Remember it’s still a game, and we need game-elements to help us make it real.

I do agree to fast zombies to several reasons, well first of all make the game more punishing if you get detected etc, and more nerve stunning to stealth around. And second if there were slow zombies you had to add a bunch of them around the players at all time, which isn't possible how the system is implemented, and I assume the modder doesn't have the source code at bay to change it in a more DayZ specific way on the core logics, yet at least. But I do not agree to the options to get away from a horde, or maybe just one zombie. You can try outrunning them and then throwing yourself and crawl away, you can swim to safety or you can just exploit the game and run into a building and let em get slow of the other pathing-system or whatever. Well I may not know all options so feel free to qq and tell me l2p or be open-minded about this. So my suggestion is to let the players sprint so they can outrun zombies, for a short period of time, because you get exhausted and can pass out if you sprint to long. (maybe?) and/or cause dehydration and stuff like that. I’m not a supporter to make a game super realistic but I think you can make some realistic parallels to this. It should add a viable realistic option to the problem, because I don't like some players’ suggestions like: learn to sneak and don't get detected at all etc, if that’s the case than maybe you should delete the zombies from the game, because the game isn’t about interact and react, just ignore and go around. No of course not don’t delete the zombies but get my point in mind. A little note, if you got access to the source code which I doubt. I could be an asset, based on how the system is designed. I'm an experienced C, C++ and Assembly programmer in the fields of pathfinding, multicore-programming and network-programming. I have done lots of rendering stuff too but that’s kind of boring. But I doubt an outsider can get a view of the code and my time is really limited. But it’s a shame if a game with so much potential fall. Regards dD

No my suggestion isn't to get a free ticket to escape when spotted. But you talk about immersion, well of course it's there, when you sneak when you meet other players, but in my opinion not when you are fleeing from zombies, right now it feels like "how can i exploit the game mechanics so i can save my precious gear?". I want it to be instead, "f**ing run!" And it shouldn't be a free win ticket, you could add all kind of complex mechanics to the sprinting, maybe a pulse meter, dehydration, exhausted, the higher the pulse the fast you would bleed out etc etc. Man I bet there are several drugs and medication to alter the pulse. You can play with the idea. But I want the suggestion to be simple so the developers can make their own interpretation of it. So if you like the idea, bump the post and let the developers see it and have it in mind. Thanks!
