Also make sure you are not picking a server from six launcher. Just open six launcher up and click launch to get in the game. Then go to multiplayer and go to the filter and put DayZ in the mission and pick a server from there

THIS ^!! Six Launcher is a great tool and I highly suggest using that for this mod! Makes the whole process much easier! For communication I use skype alot with my group cause I find it easiest but if you are playing with larger numbers then Team Speak or Mumble are better.

I could see that working only after they fixed all the serious bugs. I wouldn't like it cause I don't want dayz to become another pay to play game but I can see that idea working much better then the previous idiotic idea of perma ban on 1 death.

I wont lie, I have had my dark moments. I have a group I play with alot and I have had times while traveling to meet up with them I have bumped into other friendly survivors. These survivors were well armed and I would say friendly back. Knowing I was going to meet up with my group already as soon as that random survivor let his guard down I put a bullet in his head. I wish there was some kind of incentive to try to let people live cause I did feel bad but upgrading from a makarov and hatchet to a M1911 and AKM made it feel so right! I do try to help out fellow survivors when possible and for the most part I have not been killed by people I have armed. If I have a hand gun and a rifle I often drop the rifle for them if they have nothing and so far I have not been gunned down for that.

I don't know if I have been getting super lucky lately or if the spawn rate changed but it seems like equipment has been extra easy to find since the updates yesterday? Single elektro runs have been turning up multiple binoculors, maps, cantines, tents, M1911s AKMs ect. I found 4 tents last night just between elektros general store, pub and office then went in the fire house and found a coyote backpack O.o

I am new. I joined shortly after the no weapon at spawn patch. While at first I hated not having a gun cause of how hard it was to find a gun, after about a week or 2 I prefer it this was. I now know where to look for weapons and have even made a few friends by helping out newly spawned characters by giving them 1 of my guns and ammo when I have 1 to spare. So far no one I have helped out has turned around and shot me. Would be nice if there was a way to make it so your first 10 lives you spawned with a makarov and after that you didnt anymore. Just to help out newbies that don't know anything about the game.

Also hit up the hospital in Elektro or the medical tents in Cherno. You need morphine and blood packs.

I always like to head into the general store of elektro early off. You can often find cantines and better hand guns like a revolver or a M1911 which will both 1 shot kill a zombie. Keep in mind that Elektro is fairly likely to have other players running around so be careful.

Not that I refute that teamspeak is helpful but if you have a mic instead of typing to people your with why not use the ingame voice chat? I don't know much about team speak myself as I usually play with my group and we all use skype.

Yeah... the biggest downside to direct download games. The waiting is painful! lol

You can buy it on disk or as a download. Keep in mind DayZ may not be for you. It is a brutal game and part of its purpose is to piss you off. You will die alot and you will lose your stuff over and over. I love it but it is a complex game at times.

DayZ is a free mod but you need to pay for Arma 2 and Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead to make it work

Thats some good information goodfellarocco. Wish I knew that before I bought Combined Operations. Although I am having a good time with the unmodded game as well so I guess it was still worth it. Too answer the question of the post, I would say its very worth it but keep in mind what goodfellarocco said. It is buggy and it will piss you off at times but its all part of the fun.

If you don't like DayZ then don't play. If you do like DayZ then do play. It's all opinions. Why do people feel the need to come to a forum of a game they don't like just to say "I don't like it"? If you don't like it, good for you, those other mods sound awesome so enjoy your time on those mods and let us enjoy our time with whatever we like.
