I haven't played for a month now, because my notebook doesnt support the game well. New ones on the way though ^^ As far as i know there are still a lot of bugs and the hacking problem seems to get worse and worse.... I will definetely start playing again, but it might be frustrating sometimes that you die of buggs or worse of hackers, that are pretty frequent. It is by far the most exciting game/mod that I have played for a long time, so I still encourage everyone to try it out, despite all the problems :)

they should make non PVP servers!!

I personally would not want to play on a PvE server, but if some people want to, why shouldnt they be given the possibility? Gamers are so serious about, who is badass and whos not nowadays -.-" It is an opinion, no need for the ragestorms. Discuss like grown up men. -
I would personally like to see some kind of modification system for weapons and general equipment :) See Monkey Island for reference: Use huntingknife with Lee Enfield with Tape ---> Rifle with Bajonette :P And the possibility of finding Scopes/Sights/Lasermarker to put on the weapon of your choice...

I would love to see fewer omgwtf specialforces weapons :-/ We need a better differenciation between civilian, police-type, military and specialforces-weapons. With a huge increase in rarity of the later two in both weapons and ammunition.

If you have the Six Launcher still running in the background, I would try to quit that. Helped me a lot with my laggs. -
What would be the perfect all around gun for a lone survivor?

M1014 is the best gun for a friendly survivor in my opinion. Amunition ist plentiful, stoppingpower is high and it is easy to fing one in a firestation of your choice. I think it is a pretty cool gun, because it is not a omgwtf specialforces weapon with 300 attachements. It might be my personal roleplaying, but this gun just feels right in the hands of a survivor in a cruel world full of zombies :) -
Isnt the bloodloss stoping at a certain point arround 3000 blood? No need for a sniper-cure as far as i remember.

Wow :D Straight in the face. No seriously, are you actually reading the opening post or are you just reading the title and half of the first sentence, before you rage boy? As I said I didnt want to talk about graphics or some sort of performance issues, because thats all my crappy notebook (new ones on the way for godssake). But it seems I could actually start a quite interessting discussion here. Thanks folks, you really showed me some good points why to love and why to hate this engine. And furthermore we get some overall impressions of what the people expect for the standalone version of this game, regarding design and handling. -

A friend of mine once found a bicycle and went on a tour all arround the map and found like 4-5 heli-crashes in the process. Since he lost the miracle bike of epic loot he hasnt seen any crashsites. This teaches us that luck turns in this game. -

If I did something wrong mean: I did the mistake of trying to put a gun from my backpack into my hands without dropping it on the ground beforehand you are right :) I dont know how many weapons I lost because of that bug. Maybe thats been fixed while I took a break. I hope it is ^^ -

To the question if I ever played ARMA2: No I didnt, as I already stated in my opening post :) Thanks for the answers and the good manner in this topic (I am an old Dota player and this community is so mannered at Forums that I have tears of joy in my eyes^^). Yes, I really did not appreciate the huge scales of the map enough, thats absolutely right. Mechanics like a bulletdrop exist in tacticals shooters like forever. It was new to me with BF2 I think. The inventory is not exactly part of the engine, but I mentioned it because its the worst peace of crappy design that I have encountered for a long time :) It takes hours to pick up stuff and manage between backpack and inventory and I dont know how many guns I have bugged away in the process. All in all we can much appreciate the positive sides of the engine (realism, huge map...), but I really hope that ARMA3, bzw the standalone of DayZ, will concentrate more on up to date handling and user-friendly design of menus, inventory and controlls. -

You got my beans OP. I took a break from DayZ myself, starting fresh with my new machine in a couple of dayz (haha) :) The problem is that you cant really judge where your car has gone in this buggy hell of hackers. 1. It could be stolen by a proper survivor, what would be absolutely ok and intended. 2. It could be respawned by a hacker. not cool 3. It could be just dissappeared to be never seen again. also absolutely not cool. Atm the problem is, that point 2+3 have far higher chances :( -

Great, if I get killed I turn godmode on and kill everybody else on the server until I am bored. Then I start normal again and get killed by the next godmode guy that goes rampage... Then I stop playing because its pointless :) -

We actually did the same thing some weeks ago. Doing some zombie-hunting from the roofs in Berezino is pretty funny. We came to the decision that we never fired enough in this game. -

How to find stuff and suck less?

Hmm I don't know about this running arround like crazy thing, I am more of a sneaky bastard, but I am absolutely d'acore about the big cities. You can get basic stuff and some nice weapons within arround 40min. Loot some civilian-houses, some warehouses and than head for the next firestation and hospital. You are now either dead or geared up and ready to go ;-) Hmm I really have to die some time, my character is fully-equipped and alive far to long... -
And thats exactly the point: There is no backdraw for just eliminating a survivor.

On the one hand PvP makes this game what it is, but on the other hand its freaking boring if it turns into plain deathmatch. There have to be more reasons to play together. At the moment letting a fellow survivor live brings you no benefit at all, but puts you on the risk of beeing assassinated once you turn your back. I dont kill on sight, because I am a nice guy and dont like it, but I have to suck up the anger when I simply get murdered for my trust in people. More teamplay possibilities would do this game some good in my opinion.
