I hope they find a solution for all this vehicle hoarding :-/ Bothers me since I started this game. Clans having a stockpile of vehicles parked in the debug and not a single vehicle on the map. There were servers where I could never find a vehicle-wreck and never saw a driving vehicle either. Its pretty difficult to prevent that, but it shouldnt be possible to park vehicles outside the normal map forever. If the vehicles would be parked inside the map at least there could be more fluctuation. I personally dont have time to store my vehicle somewhere at the end of the rainbow, but there are enough people that seam to have.

Y it is an unfortunate angle, but still there could be some work done with this wave .

I get why one would want another map, but weapons is definetely not a reason for me. I couldnt care less about the weapons in the Standalone. There is so much room for cool features, who cares about the weapons?

Game Mechanics, Traits, and a Fix for "Humanity"
EndEffeKt replied to pwntrooper's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Sorry for the late post but I didnt have much time and wanted to really read it all through. Great suggestions you got here and I personally like the subtile character-development and the new penalties on food/water. Seems pretty authentic to me and I would be fully into such kind of things. Thanks for all the work. -

Why not a new map for the SA instead of Arma Map....
EndEffeKt replied to supermarco's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
We are talking about the Standalone here. I guess with the MMO-server-architecture most of the performance problems of ARMA2 should get fixed. -
Why not a new map for the SA instead of Arma Map....
EndEffeKt replied to supermarco's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
When increasing the size of Cherno/Elektro was mentioned, my first thought was: Can't they get combined (on the long run)? How about one city filling the whole space of Cherno, Elektro, everything in the middle and some space more north? This is just an idea, nothing in-dept and nothing that can be done in a couple of hours. I personally would rather like to have one big city in the south, then 2 small ones that pretty much are the same anyways. Could this be a long-term idea for map-development? -
All about DayZ Standalone in one Thread! Pics,Vids and posts.

We are talking about a game that is played world-wide, so "familiar place" seems like a term that can only ever be true for some players. The new buildings and all the environment stuff they did looks very good to me and is absolutely detailed. The map offers a big variety of sceneries to put the player in and I think after some time of playing the most people get the hang of it and feel like they were in well-known territory. -

So zombies are just a nuisance again in 1.7.7.1
EndEffeKt replied to kumando's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yes, pretty much what I think. The zombies need to be hard and feel authentic/working at the same time. In 1.7.7. the zombies were a threat which was good and they sometimes felt ridiculously bugged/glitched/random, which was bad. The LOS was one of the problems...when you as a freshspawn managed to get 150m between you and the zeds through buildings, fences and robbing under walls, you wanted them to just leave you alone, because you earn that will all your crazy juking. But they just screamed and started to run although you were way out of their viewrange, reach and LOS. Just feels fucking stupid to me to run arround like a maniac with 1 damn viral zombie at your back 15min all through the landscape. The infection was frustrating, but put the danger back into the game and made it feel much more like a survival adventure....until you got infected. The first times I was running arround with my friends trying to find Antibiotics. Eating, blood bags, whatever, but after serveral deaths the infected in our groups just played the zombie bait for the others and then gave away his equipment to die. Maybe we were just unlucky with the antibiotics, but that wasnt feeling right either. Especially when you got 1-hit infected serveral times right at the start of the game, because a zed was living in the blockhouse you wanted to loot. All in all the process was goin, and hopefully still does, in the right direction. Just needs some more tweaking with the infection and bugfixes to make the zombies feel more authentic. Doing more damage is one thing that might as well cater to that, but only if they are functioning in an understandable manner. -
Sorry mate, but you are overestimating my competence on that field. I think you need an ARMA veteran to tell you that. That ASUS book in the OP is pretty similar to my notebook and it works fine.

I think such a feature would be a welcome and good addition in the standalone. BUT we as medical personal should be happily overlooking any ilogical uses. Just add an AED that brings a player back to live that was in "near death" state for not longer than x minutes. Keep it simple guys ;-)
-
What do carebears or nice players have to do with the Zeds? You can be a friendly survivor and still be in for a hard game environment. Just nothing as frustrating as the "Kiss of Death", while I never found any antibiotics at all. I look forward to other ways of treating infections. Game has to be hard, but 1.7.7. infection felt pretty random from time to time.

Problem with ARMA2 is that the heavy performance it requests behaves rather odd compared to other pc-games. The engine doesnt intuitively distribute the load between gpu and cpu in an efficent manner, thus increasing your grafic setting leads to better performance in many cases. I dont know how to compare it to another game, but all in all I suggest getting a strong CPU.

So zombies are just a nuisance again in 1.7.7.1
EndEffeKt replied to kumando's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I havent testet the new version yet, but the thing about the former one wasnt that the Zeds were too hard, but that the infection just simply killed you in most cases. I personally wouldve rather wanted to see a non lethal infection until the WIP towards other ways to cure it is done. -
Hello people, I am a bit mad, because my DayZ randomly stopped working. Monday arround lunch it was working and got me killed, so I decided to take a break and wanted to start fresh again yesterday evening. Sadly I couldnt join one of my usual servers, because the loadscreen hangs at "Waiting for server to start authentication". I did play some Arma2 OA singleplayer in the meantime and did change some graphics values in the arma2oa config to increase my fps. Is that the reason? I already repaired all data through steam and reinstalled updates via dayzcommander. any help appreciated EndEffeKt

Waiting for server to start authentication
EndEffeKt replied to EndEffeKt's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
After some topics with the same problem popped up in other forums some hours ago, I can answer the question myself: I had already updated to the new hotfix-version while my friends and the servers I was goin to play did not. Can not confirm this now, because I am in the University, but it sounds plausible. http://bmrf.me/vbforums/showthread.php?6375-Waiting-for-server-to-start-authentication -
Make weapons take up different amounts of slots in a backpack.
EndEffeKt replied to TacticalN29's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Maybe, there should be an extra weaponslot attached to every bigger bagpack, making it possible to hang a rifle on the side of it. Thats an easy solution if there really is the need of carrying more weapons. I always found it nice to be able to switch between AK and crossbow or just to carry a weapon for a friend. Eventually the bagpacks should be smaller then. -
I am also a fan of the idea to give people some kind of character progression apart from gear, to make them more attatched to their character itself. Game-mechanic wise the character is just a puppet carrying arround gear at the moment. So if you are not a roleplaying-nature like me, you wont miss your character at all, if you can retrieve your gear. This leads to people starting a suicide-gunfight when I would start to rob someone I just approached from behind or set an ambush on. I know that PvP is a core aspect of the game, but again I have to clarify that this is not the same as KoS. I am in for every feature of the game that gives people a reason to let other players live/ to play more creative than just shooting others over cod-style. A little incident to clarify this: I was a freshspawn and looted the firestation in Elektro. Found a M1014. Nice :) I was just leaving the building and head towards the office, when I heard heavy-weapon fire and dropped to the ground dead. Bandit shot me in the back with a DMR from the hills. When I was asking "Did you find anything useful? -.-" He replied: "Didnt bother to check lol. Come and get your gear back." This is not only KoS, but just plain stupid and I hate it.

I have a gaming laptop with pretty similar stats and bought it for 1400€ 9 months ago. I got no OS with it and bought it from a small internet shop, but I still think that you can have a laptop with that specs for a smaller price. Anthough I would think about the 17" screen. That machines are really big and clumsy, I am very happy with my 15" screen, because I use it for work too.

You know that Terry Pratchet once said that more than three exclamation marks are a clear sign of insanity?

Hey people, yesterday I was happily wandering my way through the countryside of Chernarus with my crossbow in hand and my pockets full of beans. I looted small villages, Zub-castle and some medium villages arround. Everything was fine, the Zombie-count was ok and I just eliminated everything in my way with arrows. I did draw close to no attention or aggro and just felt like a true survivor. Then in the evening me and 2 friends decided to team up with our basic equipment to spent some hours of looting together. It appeared that, while we were now dividing the loot by 3 the difficulty rose to almost the double. Why? You might ask. Because suddenly the villages I wandered across hours before were swarmed by Zeds and it was almost impossible for us 3 to not draw enormous amonths of Zeds onto us. Ended in a pretty massive Zed-Shooting in the first village. I got infected, my friend too. My life ended with him hitting me in the head with his hatchet, because he had a massive lag and did not know where I was :( Finally I came to the conclusion, that simple scavenging is best done by each and every survivor on his own, because its far less dangerous or difficult. Thats a pretty sad conclusion, because who likes to play this game alone? Is the game in its current state really spwaning zombies for every survivor entering an area? Should this be changed?

I think a common miscommunication of the term "Kill on Sight" is a reason why people tend to talk about it as if it would be the same as pvp. For me KoS means that I shoot everybody that I dont know without making any assumtions, weighting risks or having a thought about it. PvP is an important aspect of this game. Nobody would play it for longer if it would be just PvE. The difference to KoS is, that I shoot people for a reason. You shoot me because you are starving? ok You shoot me because you feel very uncomfortable because I dont lower my AK? ok Problem is that people just shoot you cos they can. You get no ingame reward for letting someone live, but the player interaction, that many players dont seem to value at all. I got shot so many times with my crossbow/hatchet/nothing in hand that i cant count it. Some days ago someone got chased by zeds and screamed "friendly friendly dont shoot" at me and my mate and we let him go his way. 5min later he sneakes up on us and kills us both with his M14 just for the lols. He had far better equipment than we poor fellas -.-" I can understand people are mad about absolute non-sense killing and I hope we find a way to encourage player-interaction in the SA. And i can only repeat my brother in mind: Guys if you want to be bandits be more creative than just shoot people over!

Viral Zeds need to be easy to indentify.
EndEffeKt replied to Muncywolverine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't quite see the reason behind that. If you want a higher chance of infection, we dont need an extra zed-type to generate fear. We could just set the infection-rate of all zombies to like 40% and thats it. If there is an extra zed-type it should be identificable or we dont need it.
