    At least it would be cool if you could find an improvised melee-weapon (that is working in a legit way) easily at the very start of your life, to just beat the living shit out of the one Infected following you all the time. Not that it would do as much dmg as an axe, but the possibility to just club down one infected with 5 hits. Should possibly push him back with every hit, so he cant attack you. Wouldnt work properly vs. 3 or more, but at least to bash one Zed. Considering the fact that we will get more Zeds in the SA that sounds balanced to me.

    No Loot & Z's?

    As far as my experience go this has to do with server lag. I had this bug serveral times on a specific server, where whole villages were empty, because the server just doesnt register me beeing there. I would switch to another server.

    campaign scenario

    Problem with such a campaign is that there needs to be some kind of goal more than just surviving. Players that are really interessted in "winning" will just sit in the woods drinking coffee. The first hours will be thrilling, because everyone wants to have his piece of the big loot-cake and there will be some intense fighting over it, but later on there will be the fittest/luckiest left with full equipment...what are they going to do?
  5. I personally think that not the base-building as a single feature is important, but to add content to the game itself. I personally played this game for over a year with serveral breaks, because I always came to the point, where I was asking myself: "What the hell should I do?". I had serveral vehicles, I repaired a Helicopter...What now? I am a friendly person and not interessted in player-hunting, but what is there left to do? I know that you need to be creative and "Write your own story", but to be honest, I am to buisy with my real life to start some big medic thing or tie myself to other ingame social activities that involve beeing there at specific dates. And the more experienced you are with the game the shorter the time is until you reach this point again. So all in all the base building is a pretty logical way of allowing players to do something useful with their clan and adding some kind of roleplaying environment. We need much more content in the game that can be worked on by geared-up players. Including: bases repairing infrastructure repairing powerplants, Radio towers A super-duper dangerous military facility only scavengable by multiple players. etc.

    I'm new and need tips

    1. Whom to trust: There is no easy answer on that question. Basically nobody, but in general you cant trust Bandits and Heroes are rather trustable. You can differenciate the two groups by their appearence. You will often get shot just because you revealed yourself. Never the less I encourage anybody to not start that "Kill on Sight" thing, but try to interact with players. It adds a whole new dimension to the game. 2. There are lootmaps, which show you the position of different kinds of stuff, but I dont know if you want to use them, because its kind of like spoiling. For basic weapons I would try the bigger barns that can be found anywhere :) 3. Cook your meat and boil your water before you consume it, otherwise you get infected faster than you could ever think of. If you find antibiotics always keep them. You will need them. 4. Dont run arround in the bigger cities for too long. It gets you killed.

    Suicide in DayZ and why it's important

    I really dont think that death-timers are doing the game any good. On the other hand I like the idea of beeing able to suicide yourself with a handgun, only for the sake of roleplay.

  12. Hey Guys, I am currently following the growing discussion about DayZ and WarZ.....this is just the introduction, NOT the actual topic. And arguments I am hearing frequently is: "We got a simulator-engine", "We got the great ARMA2-Engine" I have played DayZ for quite a while now on my crappy notebook that dropps to 15fps very commonly, so I dont want to talk about pretty graphics, cos I dont have any :D In my time as a gamer I played serveral FPS and tactic-shooters and I really dont see the bright part in this engine. It basicly works like any other FPS for me, except for pretty unusual hotkeys and an inventory-system that is so buggy and absolutely designflawed, that you could actually fire the designer only for that reason. We got multiple terrain-bugs and doors that kill us or break our legs. Who wasnt killed by the horrifying door-of-death? On the pro side we got some food, water and temperature mechanics in it, but apart from that I dont see the groundbreaking differences to an engine like any battlefield-part since BF2. I am not an old ARMA2 player and just got here for DayZ some months ago, so please enlighten me :)

    Hmm call me naive but I still think that it is more difficult to kill another human than most of the rambos here think. I would like to stick with a quote of "Dale" from The Walking Dead: "This world, what it is now, this is where you belong. And I may not have what it takes to last for long, but that's okay. 'Cause at least I can say when the world goes to shit, I didn't let it take me down with it."

    I was only answering on your opening post. No reason to get cocky mate ;-) Its my opinion, that people which are unwilling to react on players in a different way than shooting them over are missing out on a lot of intense experiences in this game. Its my statement. Nothing more and nothing less. My point is not wether pvp is good or bad, its about the fact that I am always happy to meet players able to overcome their personal greed and risk something just for the sake of creativity. At the moment there is sadly no content that can entertain geared-up players. You either start rampant murdering or at least try to do something else. The SA clearly needs to add more content after the initial scavenging, because it doesnt cost an experienced survivor much time to gear up, even if he doesnt strip some poor bastard.

    You people just dont understand that one is able to play outside the given parameters in DayZ. Yes, it doesnt bring the robber any ingame advantage to rob someone instead of shooting his victim straight in the back. Why do I do it then? Maybe because I want to do something cool and challenging? Maybe because I want to be a "real" bandit? Nowadays the term bandit is the same as "rampant murderer". Why should the victim not kill the robber? A good question. Maybe because he also is a player who wants to achieve more in this game than just the build-in PvP aspects. I am a person who loves acting and roleplay, not mainly in DayZ but as one of my hobbies. And lets face it, if you are the robber you have to cater a bit to the ingame aspect and dont be greedy. I would never command you to drop your mainweapon and everything on your body. That would be insanely stupid. I would ask you what you would be willing to pay for your live. And if you would look like a bambi without any proper gear, I would even take your can of soda and let you go. To conclude my personal motivation to encourage players of this playstyle: It brings an intense playerinteraction and you will surely tell your friends about that story the next day. And isnt that the maximum of reward we can archieve?

    You are missing the fun roleplay can bring. If someone would really ambush me and try to rob me, I would play my role and beg for my life. There is no ingame reward for that, but a cool player-interaction. I would drop my gun on the ground and pay for my life with my nvgs.
  19. Hey folks, I am kinda frustrated right now. Me and my friends found a Jeep 2 days ago and decided that we want to fix it with the help of our ATV. We were goin on our endless journey to find car parts. Now, after 4 times both factories, 2 times berezino industrials and serveral lootspawns in the North West, we got: 3 Fueltanks, 7 Scrap metal, 2 Engines, serveral Windscreens and 1! car wheel. Are we just unlucky or is the spawnrate of car wheels decreased to zero? I remember times when you could gather 10 wheels in 2 hours, that was way too much, but we are really trying now and its very frustrating to find nothing at all. all the best EndEffeKt

    Sandbag Stash

    Hey Guys, I couldnt find any information on the new Sandbag-Stashes added in 1.7.7. You can create a small one (12 slots) out of one sandbag and a big one (24 slots,1 weapon) out of 2 sandbags. Did anyone try that out? Can you place them anywhere or do they obey the same rules as tents? Is there anything special about this things?

    Ehm...applause for your anatomical knowledge, but I get quite some rumbling in my tummy when thinking about all the cpu-resources you would need for such a system to work in a proper gunfight. I personally am absolutely into evolving the damage-system, but after all we have to focus on simple things that make the game more intense. Correct registration of arm/leg/hands hits with the result of that limb beeing impaired. falling on the ground, loosing your weapon, lose speed and other effects as easy as this. I dont think that adding features for every major bloodvessel would add much to admosphere/tactic/authenticity. But if would be a great and much more simple addition, if I could decide to cripple a player instead of killing him. I would say add hitbox-effects for the limbs based on the amonth of damage/bullet they took (low dmg getting slower; high dmg fall to the ground for example). Then add a lethal hitbox for the head and maybe one for the heart and thats about it. If that works we could possibly discuss about evolving from there.

    Tips on aiming?

    I just downloaded the shooting range mission, but it seams my ARMAIIOA cant start it. I put it into the MissionMP folder, but cant find a way to open it ingame :D Do I do something wrong? EDIT: Ah ok I have to host a multiplayer game.
